Just the sort of player we need bicks !!!

Glad Hamish was there . Quick , skilful and left / right sided ?

Saw ya mate Steele play today , he's too good for neafl

Can't believe Wilson was playing too , absolute gun

Probably favours his right foot but looks equally adept on the left to my eye, on what I saw yesterday I'll go early and say he's an elite kick. Whilst he played mostly outside the contest yesterday he certainly didn't shirk the hard stuff when it was his turn to go. Highly impressive...I'll get another look at him as we're home again next week against the Eastern Ranges. BTW my boy Jarrod Berry played midfield all day and was clearly B.O.G., also slotted 3 long running goals.

If your on facebook there is a video interview with Cedric up on Hutchy's "Off the Bench" site. Seems a really nice young bloke.

There are posters still potting Berry's kicking?

Probably people that have never seen him play in the flesh, his kicking's fine AND very penetrating.
Was just stated from experienced track watchers in the BF phantom draft?

Great stuff Bicks - yep reckon berry will go late 1st round so around our pick

A bit fascinated by Cox and hope he's on our radar as we need a gun outside type in my view

There is a LOT of potential here, guys

There's a good selection of small forwards/crumbers available in this draft I'd be very comfortable using a late round pick or rookie position...Sam Fowler, Jarmaine Jones, Tyson Stengle, Kym Le Bois just a few of note.

Don't know much about Jones, what's his strengths?

Mirror image of Stengle with a lot more mongrel, indigenous lad from Portland Victoria, capable of playing midfield minutes and regularly impacts the scoreboard. Invited to the State screening so there is interest.
After last week's announcement of five Rebels players being invited to the AFL's National Draft Combine, the North Ballarat Rebels are pleased to announce that four Rebels have also been invited to the AFL's State Draft Combine on Thursday 9th October.

Jarrod Korewha (Koroit), Lloyd Meek (SMW Rovers), Jamaine Jones (Portland) and Callan Wellings (Trentham) have all been selected to attend the State Combine session, having each been nominated by two or more AFL clubs to attend and get the chance to perform in front of recruiters from all 18 AFL clubs.

And who was bullish about this kid's prospects for an AFL career in the 2014 Draft?;)

And went to the Dees at Pick 53...steal!!

I'm not sure what your point is. There's great players from the draft every year and players who flop.

Was a funny one, from all reports seemed like an extremely good key defensive prospect, not 1st round material, but a sure bet to be a decent defender, yet fell a long way. Perhaps seen as too "safe" and without enough "x-factor", but I'm not sure hats a bad thing in a KPD. Thought he'd be a good pick up for us, in the end I think we selected Lever, Wigg and McGovern before him which I'm happy with, however there's a few clubs out there who probably erred in not grabbing him earlier...

Call me silly, but i actually see McGoverns future in defence. I think his ability to intercept mark, cover ground and execute with both skills could see him be very handy back there.

That's just it though, in all of the local games I saw in his draft year he was never just a "dour" shut down defender often running off his opponent just like he is in the AFL turning defence into attack and on the occasions when used as a "Swingman" playing forward he nearly always hit the scoreboard. Also if you remember his results at the Draft Combine were very strong for a KPP 10.30 for the 3km run and a 20 metre sprint of 3.01 are exceptional times for a big bloke which also pointed to Oscar having good athletic attributes. One of football's mysteries that he never went higher.

Both clocked best times in the three-kilometre test around the Etihad Stadium boundary on Friday afternoon, the final screening for the four-day combine.
Ruckman Marshall (Portland) posted 11 minutes, 11 seconds to shave about 40 seconds off his best while key tall prospect McDonald (Edenhope-Apsley/North Ballarat City) equalled his best at 10:30.
North Ballarat Rebels talent manager Phil Partington said the pair had left no stone unturned in physical preparations and conditioning leading into the combine and were well rewarded for their efforts.
“We’re rapt. The boys couldn’t have done anything better the whole week and that’s exactly what we want,” Partington said.
“When they finished the 3K, they were absolutely spent. It’s been a big week.
“They’ve done themselves proud and now we just have to wait. Maybe there’ll be a few more interviews the next couple of weeks.”
McDonald and Marshall also set personal best times in the 20m sprint – McDonald ran 3.01 seconds, Marshall 3.21 – and were solid across all fitness, agility and skills testing this week.

After watching the year unfold and what sort of depth we have I think our priorities are a KP forward and a pacy midfielder. Our defence is sewn up for the next decade really but we need a big bodied pure forward that can be developed. Midfielders are a no brainer and we should always look to increase our stocks.

Talking to a mate today something I wasn't aware of apparently Cedric Cox played VFL for the North Ballarat Roosters a fortnight ago as the "23rd" man and playing limited minutes handled himself well, racking up 15 or 16 disposals and showed good run and carry. I'm tipping Parto's putting him out there at the request of the scouts so they can get a good look at him.

jarman ?

Can't see us taking jars and another one of these types in main draft , maybe as one of rookie selections I guess

Can't see both Jarman and him as too similar but I like him and think a club will grab him late/rookie as you suggest
I'm not sure about our staff, but I see Jarman as more of a midfielder - just doesn't seem as lively or dangerous around goal as someone like Stengle, which is important for a SF

Mid / forward

Prob most suitable to what Douglas role is right now

Hasn't shown too much evidence to be a full time mid , is very small for inside and a bit slow to play outside
