If we pick up a couple of 3rd rounders, is it wise to pick up the big Fijian and Jarman.

I'd be happy as we'd be covering our Fwd/ruck, particularly if Dear leaves, and Jars has that elite skill set that we need to develop.

I've been watching Berry live for 2 years, his kicking is fine, the reason some of the so called eggspurts espouse this "ïnconsistent" kicking bullshit is they look at stats and not the actual game, his role at the Rebels is to take the game on and go long with his prodigious boot which often results in goals and score involvements, and of course there are inherent risks involved with that strategy. The Rebels game plan under coach Gerard Fitzgerald is an offensive one and in the most parts succeeds and I daresay would have gone close to winning the TAC Comp this season but for the untimely bad kidney injury to Jarrod in the first final.

I guess you've seen Simpkin play live too?
I saw a couple of Simpkin's games last year and my take was, good speed, good skills, smart footballer but lightly framed and much more outside than inside the contest much in the Wayne Milera mould.

IMO we need a big bodied, contested, inside/outside mid with other strings to their bow which Berry has in spades being great overhead, a very capable running/attacking back and always hits the scoreboard when played forward. I've seen what he's capable of with my own eyes, he's an exceptional footballer and a born leader. Originally from Horsham so little go home factor also a bonus.
Hey Bicks. I know everyone wants midfielder in this draft and disregarding our draft picks....but is their any 2 metre Peter types in this draft?

He has a name: Esava Ratougolea. And at 194cm, he's not going to ruck.

Bicks
If Adelaide kept their draft number 13 , would Venables be worth taking if still there
or would his injuries scare them away
I'm not as keen as some are on Venables, doesn't find enough pill at this stage and goes missing way too often for my liking, no doubt he has all the attributes, just not sure he has enough desire to really push himself to get into every contest.....I suspect he'll still be there at our pick unless recruiters are sure they can work on and instill the will for him to get more involved in every play, I see him as a bit lazy and at this stage inconsistent, when he's good he's very good, when he's ordinary he's invisible....

Depends if they think there is enough there to develop through coaching

Sometimes the guy you get at 13 has weaknesses or inconsistencies but ends up better than the top 3 pick that is more polished and complete - he could be that guy

Certainly also others in the mix there too . Doubt we will hold the pick though

I'm hoping we use a late or rookie pick to get a mobile ruckman in the Grundy/Gawn mould as a project player.

We don't need any more half back flankers (or any defenders), half forward flankers or wingmen.

Do need midfielders, KPF, Ruckman.
But I'd take will hayward in a flash !

I'd rather we take a good player in a position we don't need than a shite player who plays in a needs position that will never play a game

Ha and I'd take Jarrod Berry in a flash, he's demonstrated right in front of me he can play Back, Forward and Mid.....and at a very high level...that's without even mentioning his leadership qualities and superb character......oh and I forgot to mention his elite endurance and agility...lol:D:eek:

Are either of Ladhams or Flipovic worth a rookie spot?
I'd be prepared to rookie any of the 4 if it only cost a rookie spot...

Filipovic and Ladhams not sure they get right through to the rookie draft...

Another worth a look is Rowan Marshall, a former Ballarat Rebel, now playing for the North Ballarat Roosters in the VFL. Thought he was a chance of getting a spot on an AFL list in his draft year [2014] but missed out and has since played really well in the VFL the last two years, at the Rebels he played Ruck/Forward and regularly hit the scoreboard in bunches...a very good and accurate kick. This year in the VFL he's played CHB/Relieving Ruck with big Oren Stephenson doing the bulk of the Ruck in a hopeless Roosters team and has done very well. I really like him as a mobile marking Forward/Ruck the role he played as a junior......if Harry Dear does go he would be an excellent replacement IMO and he's ready to go now with the bulk of the development already done. He's around the same size as JJ and quite mobile for a big fella. See his comprehensive AFL draft year reel at the link below I'm sure you'll see he has a ton of ability. I'd back him to be a better prospect than Paul Hunter!

And this from the Mad Monday Team also in his draft year...
