I've seen both close up, especially McCluggage and I'd dispute that strongly...McCluggage is an absolute Rolls Royce....and I have had a very high opinion of McGrath all along, long before the Draft "gurus" were really onto him.
His comments were that McCluggage was too slight. The comparisons were to Akermanis. McGrath also sounds like he's very mature and a natural leader.

2 years in an AFL system will be all Hughey needs to "muscle" up, just so much hurt factor with ball in hand, has to be seen to be fully appreciated, football I.Q. off the richter scale. I think both will be great footballers but if I had to choose I'd bet on Hughey having the more decorated career.

Gut feel says that we'll be using a 2nd (Lyons) and 3rd round pick in this draft, plus maybe a later pick too. Gut feel is also saying Jarman will nominate Hawks.

Wouldn't mind getting two midfielders - one outside, one inside - with our 2nd and 3rd. Gallucci could maybe be an option in the mid 20's? Poholke with our 3rd if he slips? Would love, love, love Stengle with a late pick, I've been high on him for a while as Bicks may remember

How about our KPP stocks? Dear yet to commit, lowden and Ramsay gone , Otten has ?? Regarding whether he can pick up the pace of the game, shaw doubtful with concussion. Only other potential KPP is keath ?? Think we may need a KPP or 2 as well.

Lets say we get pick 26 from GC, chances of Vanables being available?
He'll go in the top 20, IMO. Very slim chance of him being there at 26. Unfortunately.

Very bad year for talls. If you want to find, say, a KPF late in the draft, don't bother unless they're mature aged - very low success rate of KPF's taken with late picks. Reckon we may develop Hunter as a KPF/ruck next year, Dear as a true KPF. Anyway, our four tall forward system allows us to be flexible in this regard. We could do with a Ramsey replacement in the rookie draft, maybe?

Further evidence of how strong clubs see this year's draft depth wise...

Cant read that, but agree nonetheless. Draft pool looks excellent. pick 30 this year looks to be equivalent of pick 15 other years... Need to grab a bargain whilst they are available.

Minimal

If we want a powerful mid Powell pepper would be a 30% chance to still be there

Hayward 40%

Galluci 50% would be a good Dmac replacement . A solid pick , not a star but more weapons than Dmac ( speed, vertical leap)

Others - Cedric Cox , Willem Drew more likely to be there than not

correct re KPFs
Logue Maibum and Cox all good key defenders that will be 2nd rounders . Logue could possibly play mid and forward- but will prob be a 1st rounder you'd think

The guy that would be a great pick in 20s is Ridley from vic metro. Rated well at combine for athelticism and is a natural footballer

Also a very good kick , around 190cm and could push onto a wing and midfield methinks

I'd be looking at him big time with a mid 20s pick ( if venables and Powell pepper are gone )

No to Cedric Cox from me, he's a pure project player for mine, as much chance to be bust as a boom IMO.

Ridley ran a 2.98 20m sprint which was top 26% and was also top 20% in agility testing

He's also 192cm good overhead, good footy IQ and a good kick

If we got Gibbs and him ( or Hayward ) for
13 and Lyons and next years 2nd - I'd be extremely happy

Wouldn't mind Ridley if we're confident we can develop him into a midfielder. Has a bit of our own Ten Goal Tommy to him IMO

Hayward's a yes from me, needs to learn to accumulate though.

Gallucci would be my pick at the moment for a mid 20's pick, has some very nice weapons that we lack (speed, good kicking, vertical leap, intercept marking)

I've seen Hayward dominate as a half back and as a half forward. I've also seen his quality playing midfield.
He will accumulate without too much trouble going forward.

And all this bullshit by the hyped up "Media" Draft Gurus about next year's draft being a Super Draft and far better than this years...well Gurus Clubland isn't backing you up on that one...you know those blokes that actually do it as a profession!!
