I'm warming to Jarrod Berry as a tall midfielder, if we accidentally win our last four games he wouldn't be a bad choice with pick 10.

You know, I really don't like telling people what to do.

But.... I REALLY hope you have to update your username in a few years...

I raised this on the D&T board but may as well mention it here as well.

Ex-Carlton rookie Luke Reynolds looks to be putting together a pretty good year at SANFL level, having kicked 35 goals in 14 games to date.

I wonder if he's on the radar of AFL clubs heading into next season...and I wonder if we'd consider giving him a second crack.
I was a little disappointed we didn't stick with him for a bit longer. I thought he had something to work with. He could take a mark & had a bloody good kick on him. He could be a forward in the Membrey mould.

Seems clubs agree with you, as he's not received an invite for the national combine. Looking more likely to be rookied now, if anything.

I'm not sure that's a definitive summation. Kerbatieh went last year, so clubs see no reason to profile, test and interview him a second time.

They already know what his strengths and weaknesses and the reasons why he was overlooked. It's the extent to which he performed in overage competition at Northern that will determine where and if he gets selected.

Sos really liked taking talls at gws. Will he be interested in Marshall? I think Marshall is a better prospect than McKay. Good hands, very agile for 198. Won't just be a mark kick type player, will be involved in play, providing assists, etc.

It will be interesting to see what his philosophy is with building a list now he's at Carlton. Will he continue to stock up on talls.carlton only has one proven key position player for the future - weitering. A lot is riding on McKay developing. Has the landscape regarding forward lines changed with hawthorns success without a key forward. Maybe it's now more about quality options with size being less important.

I must admit lm a bit impatient and want a midfielder because we know they can he an impact early on. But l can see the certainty that taking Marshall would give us for our future forward line. There are a lot of variables at the moment with Tomlinson, Stewart, Marchbank available.

I will be interested in our first pick just to get an idea of how sos wants to build our list. It would be a big call to go tall as it would hold back our improvement for hopefully bigger gains later on.

Do they have access to any data that shows how his fitness base has improved? He'll still go to state screening and get all that looked at.

All I'm saying is that he's not very likely for the national draft now. But if he puts another horror performance in with the endurance testing, he's not going to get a look in before the second round of the rookie draft.

I'm saying that for an adult candidate who has already done one combine, match-day conditioning is more important that facts and figures.

He'll be on the radar of the Victorian clubs, whose scouts have the opportunity to freely observe his exposed form throughout the VFL season. Whether that's in the national or rookie drafts or at all remains to be seen.

National combine is more important to narrow down hundreds of school age 17 and 18 year olds in junior competitions to a shortlist of 80 or so.

Azul i believe you are correct. If you look all the Vfl listed players that got invited this year they have never been tested or interviewed before. I read that kerbatieh has before from over 6 clubs is a lot of interest for a small forward. I still think the kid might go in the late draft and early rookie will be a great cheap pick for any club that can fix him up with a preseason. I hope we snag him cheap automatic replacement for smith and upgrade.

There is a way that we could land Brodie or McCluggage with pick 5.
All we have to do is get one or both of them to pull a Wingard and say they wouldn't like to move interstate.
Essendope have pick one and will take one of Brodie or McClaggagge if they go for a mid.
Brisbane Freo and GCS hold picks 2,3 and 4, they wouldn't use a pick this high on a kid who will likely go home after there first contract.
Get in there ear SOS and make it happen.

Surely Will Brodie refuses a breathalyser a week prior to the draft and 3 clubs pass on him so he falls to 4

I have faith in our culture to correct Brodies erratic behaviour : )

I agree with that & wouldn't be adverse to giving him another opportunity, as we did with Cachia a few years back.

Clearly he has talent but for whatever reason things didn't work for him first time around. Looks to have really come on this year and at 21 he's obviously young enough to forge an AFL career for himself if he's good enough.

Maybe he won't be able to make the grade but for a late pick in the ND or even as a rookie it's such a low risk proposition for someone clearly performing at SANFL level. I'd be surprised if he didn't get another opportunity somewhere, there are plenty of clubs screaming out for forwards in particular. Given he's in Adelaide it may be one of the SA clubs who come knocking - Port more likely given the strength of Adelaide's forward line.

He could be a replacement for Eddie when he turns 40 next year.......

JOM to Carlton for our 2nd and two 3rd round picks, just under 1500 points in total, plus a bag of Twisties?

I wonder if GCS could draft someone with their first pick before matching bids on Bowes and Scheer.
