Apart from the trading of Gibbs i'm all for it would love to get a whole bunch of kids to the club.
I think Jaeger/Mitchell, The GWS 3/4 and a pick or two in the #10-16 range are very possible with Touhy, Casboult, Everitt, our first, our second and next years second all on the table

I was bored, so thought i'd quickly knock up a little Average Draft Position across three of the biggest phantom names on BigFooty and across the Internet with Knightmare, Cal Twomey and Chris25 being included. If a player wasn't listed in the top 28 of Knightmare or Chris they'd be given a 28, and if they weren't in the top 20 of Twomey's rankings they'd be given a 21.
Some clear tiers are developing.
Tier 1. Picks #1-4
-------
McLuggae, Brodie, Bowes, Petrevski-Seton
Tier 2. Picks #5-9
------
McGrath, Ainsworth, Marshall, Setterfield, Venables
Tier 3. Picks #10-21
------
Perryman, Scrimshaw, Berry, Rotham, Scheer, Macreadie, Mutch, English, Scharenberg, Simpkin, Taranto, Gallucci
Tier 4. #22-28
------
Bolton, Powell-Pepper, Battle, Drew, Graham, Witherden, Clarke
A very interesting balancing act would be, one Tier 2 and one Tier 4 player, taken with out first and second picks up against, two players from Tier 3 and one from Tier 4 if we were to trade our first out for two later first round picks.

That-s the point of this draft, there's a gap between tier 1 and tier 2, but I dont think there is much of a gap between tier 2 all the way down to tier 4.If l was gws or gc(probably the only 2 that could do the trade) l would want to trade into top 3, not pick 5, so l had some choice of which top tier player l want. I'm a little dubious about this trade down eventuating. GC want to feel pretty sure they get in before a bid on Bowes not just hoping for the best. Gws want a quality small/medium forward. Ainsworth, seton possibly Mcluggage might be what they want. May not be there at pick 5.
They talk about an even draft. If we were to trade down Carlton might struggle getting players from that top 10. We would be left choosing from midfielders like Scharenberg, Taranto, gallucci. Is that ok?
I wonder what the performance gap is seen as when you go from the top 10(tier1+2) to the rest?

If you want to look at how Ainsworth will progress into the AFL look at Billings today... he's alright, but makes no overall impact on the game really.Terry Wallet has us taking Ainsworth
Billings has kicked two goals. I'd be ok with thatIf you want to look at how Ainsworth will progress into the AFL look at Billings today... he's alright, but makes no overall impact on the game really.
Two goals in a smashing... doesnt mean a lot.Billings has kicked two goals. I'd be ok with that

I'd be wary of running with a starting centre square of Cripps, Gibbs, plus another big slow midWith pick #4 i'd prefer finding a Cripps, who's kicked 2 despite being smashed
Terry Wallet has us taking Ainsworth
Marking forward. Would be happy with this.
I want 3 first rounders and to hold onto 22. One Key orward and three mids. I could live with a KPF, Ainsworth (forward/ mid) and two mids.
If the rumours about Gibbs heading back to SA are true, we should get a first rounder for him at the very least.
Gibbs to Port for pick#9.
Touhy to Sydney for #16.
Casboult + Pick#40 to Brisbane for pick #24
Leaves us with: Pick #5, #9, #16, #22 and #24
Pick #16 to GWS for Marchbank.
Pick #5 -> Ainsworth (SF/IM)
Pick #9 -> Venables (HFF/IM)
Pick #22 -> Battle (KPF)
Pick #24 -> Clarke (IM)
IF this happens, our future defence will consist of: Docherty, Marchbank, Plowman, Byrne and Weitering
Our future forwards: C.Curnow, Silvagni, McKay, Ainsworth, Battle,
Our future mids: Murphy, Cripps, Venables, Clarke, 2017 1st pick, Boekhorst, Cuningham, 2017 2nd pick
The added bonus of this is Charlie can also play as a mid and Venables can go forward and they will both have an impact in those areas as well. Ainsworth also capable of going mid. It just adds a dynamic to our playing group that makes us unpredictable and gives us options.
We also have Ben Silvagni coming in the 2018 draft. He will be another KPF.
I'd be pretty happy with that.
Nice ideas, but would much prefer a mcgrath/ venables mix
Outside pace and skills are our biggest issues. Mcgrath - tick
Superstar potential and break away pace- venables- tick
I just cant fathom how ainsworth is anything more than an icing on the cake player. He has some nice tricks but a small marking fwd is not a list changer.
If we could pick mcgrath AND venables, I would need a valium to calm down.
McGrath could fill the void that Touhy leaves and then eventually work his way into the middle as well. Wouldn't be disappointed with that either.
GWS then ontrade pick 5 to Melbourne for their 1st round pick next year. This gives Melbourne two more guns this year to add to Petracca and Oliver etc for the new coach to work with next year. Melbourne bank on finishing higher than 13th next year.
I'm starting to think we should be trading for players and picks in the 2017 draft instead of drafting from the 2016 pool.
Why would GWS trade pick 5 this year to Melbourne for a pick 8-12 next year?
They'll place a premium on future picks. Once they know they have enough points this year to get all the (heaviliy discounted) Academy blokes, they'll trade out what they have left over for more points and picks next year to repeat the rort all over again.
Like what they did last year. They have 3 first rounders this year, and will get even more points in from trading (Marchbank, Steele, Tomlinson, McCarthy).
Once they have enough points to pay for the half a dozen or so discounted first rounders this year, they'll trade out whatever they have left over to repeat the whole thing again next year.
Its why the AFL brought in 'future pick' trading. Get used to GWS getting close to half a dozen first round picks each year (via 20 percent academy discounts, ability to match any bid, and future pick trading).
Their first round picks in this years draft all came from player trades. Im fully aware of what they are doing and it is very good management. As you said they will have a lot of players they will be trading this year and next that they can take future points for without taking a big risk and trading pick 5 for 10.
They easily could ask for future picks for Hoskin Elliott, Steele, McCarthy and take current picks for Marchbank, Tomlinson, Stewart.
What also hasn't been mentioned is others who might want to leave that don't come up until trade time, there are always others that pop up.
We need to get Todd Marshall with our 1st pick. Stuff trading it for part time players like Jaeksh we could of landed 2 meter Peter. Our forward line is our biggest concern we don't have scoring potential or targets apart from Levi
