Harry would have been highly touted if he was in this draft. If he wasn't injured, he would have played as many games as SOSOS did, if not more

Cripps displayed that he could unlock the game from clearances a lot more than what Brodie has. Cripps' query was speed and body shape, but it was well understood he'd had a dramatic growth spurt and a broken leg.Cripps went at 13 would he have been a stretch at 5? No way, I'm sure there were many saying he has no tricks, kicking isn't great blah blah. Supposedly Brodie is an animal with a burning desire.
Look at Swans midfield...they have 3 or 4 per game at 20 plus possessions plus ..and steam roll teams such as us....if we had 6 cripss we could be more happy.Judd,Cripps,Gibbs,Murphy,Brodie,Prestia....stuff like this equals sustained attack and possession of the football....wears down and demoralises the opposition...it can be and often is over at the midfield...should load up on first two picks as mids, usually at a premium.I get the thinking but having 2 guys in the same midfield getting 20 handballs a game each isn't ideal and would lead to an unbalanced midfield.
Someone who knows stuff about stuff. Where does Tim English rate and any chance he could slide?

Maybe so. But H's point is we should not reach for a 3rd tall when we already have Jack and Charlie.
I wouldn't exactly call him a small forward @ 192
I don't know about him. Is he more a Darling or a Kersten?
Is he really what we need as we have CCurnow & Silvagni in place for that role already, but with more tricks?
Just can't get enthused for any of the KPF's just yet, but maybe Battle is much more than a KPF......if you want to take that risk.
I said Smart
Agreed we have a few already but with same token I really like what I saw of Battle
Might depend where we see CC playing as some think he could be a Mid and will Harry make it?
Most of those guys aren't what you'd classify as KPF. (e.g.) Gunston, Membrey, Darling, Lynch and the other guys are moreso complementary forwards and in the case of Tippett, a ruckman, rather than absolute first rank forwards. (e.g. 2) Walker better than Jenkins and Riewoldt better than Bruce.
I understand what you are saying and I don't want to pump up one of our own more than deserved, but you only have to look at how guys like English are talked up in the rankings to see how desperate teams are for quality talls. There is no way that Harry missing 12 odd weeks through injury would have caused him to slide into the second round.I'm not going to continue beyond this post because I don't want to sound like I'm being critical of a 1st or 2nd year Carlton player. After all it's hardly Harry's fault he got injuried early, and then didn't have the time to get back into full match fitness before the end of the year.
But I do stand by my second round comment, and there's not a chance in hell he'd go pick 1. Maybe if he had a full year of development in the VFL and everything went right but that didn't happen. No point pretending otherwise.
Maybe so. But H's point is we should not reach for a 3rd tall when we already have Jack and Charlie.
95% of the time, you'll get a player you rated higher than for where you picked him up. That's just the way it works.
We'd be pretty unlucky to pick up the player we rate as the 25th best player in the draft at our pick #25.
I know it doesn't necessarily work this way but let's say we wanted a real talent and a grunt inside mid with our two picks.
If we take Brodie at #5 as the inside mid first, what talent are we going to get at #25?
If we did though take Taranto or SPS at #5, there's more than a good chance we'd get the an inside mid later, via Clarke, Drew, SPP, Drew, Fisher etc.
So which situation gives us the better chance of getting two quality players and the 'types' we want?
I may be wrong but this is the way I'm seeing it for now.
I still like Brodie with pick 5. Great competitor, prolific contested ball winner, clean hands, good contested mark, and nice pace for his size. I don't really see why people are all of a sudden getting so down on him, I think his kicking ability is being exaggerated. Would compliment Cripps nicely.
Mind you, my gut feel is that we will take Taranto and I will be happy with that, but personally I worry about Taranto's kicking more than Brodie's and he is slower.
I reckon SOS will bid on Setterfield and will target him for 2 years time. Apparently he is loving Melbourne, if he isn't consistently in their best 22 within 2 years, like so many others he will be gone (and let's face it, that is a much tougher team for a young player to get a gig at than any other club)I still like Brodie, SPS, Taranto and Setterfield for pick 5.
Yes Darling comparison works
I'd prefer SPS he's mesmerizingly good but if gone either Brodie or Taranto will be very good footballers so happy with the possible outcomes, it's exciting prospects at 5 and 25 too.
