To me Powel-Pepper, although explosive, just lacks the clean disposal we need at this level. Unbelievably explosive and agile, but doesn't think and ends up hacking kicks forward. If he flicked more precise handballs out to others in good positions or learnt to slow down and balance before kicking, he could come good. Venables, Imo, is less explosive but better disposal wise and still has very good burst pace. A good mix of inside outside.

Berry seems like a hard-edged Smith, could definitely use one of him if he could be thrown into the center square from the start.

ATM of the above I'd take them in this order

Venables
Berry
PP
Florent
Sympkin
Logue

Florent is clean, but I'm hesitant to put that on a first on a outside mid when we already have Milera.

Really sound analysis :thumbsu:

Not garbage, No, but can be inconsistent....can tend to try to do too much with ball in hand rather than the team thing would be his biggest failing at this stage IMO. Needs to temper his bull at a gate attitude and get smarter football wise.
Sounds like another gun we used to have...

Seem about right?
That all seems to make sense. Wouldn't surprise to see Scrimshaw go earlier, maybe to North. Think if GC don't take Berry before their pick, Sydney might grab him.

Excellent post - though if Brisbane put a claim in on Bowes at 3, GCS just need the points from pick 6 to claim him.

If Carlton make the call of Setterfield, GWS would need to use 15 and 39.

Pretty close to the mark unless someone spots a Doedee, Marshall and Simpkin are the 2 that I feel could be taken earlier perhaps by clubs open to speculation.

So you think there is a very good chance we pick Venables? :D

From the little I saw last year Simpkin will be a star and a great pick up for whoever rolls the dice on a guy who virtually hasn't played this year. Amazing feel for the game and elite skills. But having taken Milera last year, I can't see us going for a wispy mid/forward again.
I don't mind Simpkin, very good skills and amazing goal sense, just is very outside and probably too outside, in my view, to be picked at 13. If Simpkin is a Crow next year, I'll be quite surprised. Who knows what the recruiters will think though.

Yeah was thinking Scrimshaw for North, they may want someone who has played a bit more in the midfield, though?

Absolutely he'll be in the mix around our pick but if it was me I'd prefer Jarrod Berry who I've seen plenty of live and up close, just offers up so much on top of being a damn good and tough footballer.

Isn't SPP's kicking garbage?

This is my thing with SPP... he needs to become a smarter footballer. He's very explosive at the moment, which is a good thing, but it can be at the detriment of your team at times. Needs to learn how to assess a contest, extract the ball, run away with it and make a smart decision by hand or foot.
He reminds me of CC. Gets it and just wants to get it on/forward without taking that moment to assess. Hopefully he can learn to take that moment to assess his options better.

I think we would probably look at inside/outside type to be honest.
Keep an eye on witherdens name stiffy. He is very highly regarded by recruiters. Also Simpkin think of parish and smith from gws type. Cross between two. He is not as outside as made out to be.

Smith like?
Didn't think so immediately ......but yeah, there are some similarities .......at 194cm and the quickest over 20mtrs at the draft, the kid has some un-tapped talent

Also really like the look of scrimshaw. Uses ball so well. But he looks better suited to outside role. Has the footy smarts We need players who can hit targets under real heat
There's a remote possibility Scrimshaw could be available ......but you'd doubt it

Your preference
Powell-Pepper
Venables
Josh Battle
Florent
Galluci?

None of the above WW - Simpkin, Witherden, Scrimshaw, Hayward (local boy),Berry - but really have not seen enough any of those you presented WW to make a case against them. Not a huge fan of Galluci in the little I have seen.

Is it just me, or does Poholke look a bit like Atkins? Not in the way that he plays, but in the face.

Here's the video for him anyway.

Would not touch Bolton with 13. Would grab Florent and especially Venables at 13 with both hands (although I feel the club won't consider Florent).

Scrimshaw I would take, but is he what we need? Doesn't win a lot of contested ball. Scharenberg may be a bit of a reach. SPP I'd be fine with.
We'd take scrimshaw on talent alone and it would help release smith eventually

Scrimshaw could be scary good if he develops

Lovey your work Ditty. Would love it even more if you could label them as Inside mid, Outside mid, mid/fwd, small defender, ruck, KPD..... etc>
