Nakia Cockatoo.....
Exactly .....rose up the draft board on the back of one singular game ......simply stupidity & says everything still about the recruiting professionalism

Didn't Milera rocket up based on his last few games?
No .....Milera had an excellent U18 Championship, had played league at SANFL ....and combined that with an outstanding SANFL Finals ......there was a good body of work there

Not sure Brodie has that breakway speed .....he gets cramped alot on his disposals by foot ?

Excellent vision though and tends to throw out longer handballs than most that clears the congestion .......both Brodie and Venables are very composed though with ball in hand
Go watch his Vic Metro game again. He definitely has speed when hitting and exiting stoppages. Good thing is, he's able to run and carry well for an inside mid, too.

People often say to me .....how can you come to an assessment of a player off the back of 2-3 U18 Championship games ......this is how!!! ...can anyone explain to me why he ends up on a Rookie list?

Wayne I can't be sure. I think there are a few factors at play.
Indeginous people are very culturally tied to family and country. Not all have the same opportunity or understanding of what it takes to be a professional.
Or even what commitment means.

When things get hard, feel shame or get lost in the white mans world they seek home.
It's not the same as going home as non indeginous people see it.

There are stories in this years draft pool - Halls Creek comes to mind.

Cam and Eddie I think have mentioned at different times their bond. Cam was recruited from WA and I have no doubt Eddie has provided a VERY pivotal role in prime support. Eddie has told us of his being lost stories.

Cam was still raw into AFL as well and really so very young.

I'm sure this plays on recruiters minds. Yep talent but .....

Any testing results on Brodie? .....did he do the combine?

And exactly why Betts has to be retained at the end of his playing career in a Players Welfare role at the club ......think it will happen IMO

Any chance we trade back a couple of picks (like we did with Lever) and pick up Hayward?

Could upgrade a later pick by doing this whilst also picking up a local lad that won't ever leave us

The trade period for players and pick exchanges has already finished.

Not overly keen on Marshall, just don't think he fits our list profile and is about a year too early to come in with Dear already making his presence felt. Would prefer to pick up an balanced, explosive mid with our first (Brodie if available, not super explosive but couldn't pass him up) and draft a tall next year. If Colmen-Jones is available at our pick, whatever it may be, yes please! Assuming of course we don't have a top 5 pick and an absolute gun is available.

The way he is going though, he could end up a top 5 pick...

*edit Still think Venables will be our best option whom is still available. If Brodie slides, that south park meme will be well and truly apt...

No he wouldn't and there have been programs to facilitate transition and what he has achieved whilst he was at AFL that we have seen some progress. However I think I speak reality and no club official is going to publically state otherwise. Well we had an AFC official that tried to express reality and that didn't end well.

I agree. Just would have looked funny if I put Matt Rendell Likes This :D

You read the story on SPP and you would hesitate if you were a club as the go home factor looks big. Me I would gamble and if he desired to go then use as high trade bait.
