Good luck, we were angry after the game. Dont hate the guy but, he had a bad game. We'ĺl get over it. 12 more bloody months before we get a chance at you guys again. Kudos by the way! :tearsofjoy:
I agree, he got Cloke when he somehow decided to find some form! Obviously not his preferred position. I just feel that White is playing his role, and that we might have to give up a fair bit to get Tomilnson i'd probably rather keep White. Never thought I'd say that about White haha.

Can't wait I hope we have many good battles over the years to come. I'll be at Manuka to watch you lads destroy Richmond!

Still no rumours or murmurs from the club regarding contracts, are they still waiting for the news on the CBA and the salary cap

Just interested to know your thoughts on breust , would you guys want him and what would youse be willing to give up? Ive mentioned this trade on hawks board and it didn't go down well but anyway - you guys get breust for your 1st round you receive from pies plus Tomlinson or steele!!!!!

Not surprised it didn't go down well ... your board wants to bring in talent not lose it. I too rate Breust, so would look closely at the above proposed trade. It's probably reasonably priced for each club; GWS might negotiate on which of the 2016 picks it would give up depending on the player involved. Breust coming in taking that experienced leadership role in the forward line would carry on the good work from Stevie J.

Timing-wise, not sure this year works though. (Yes, I know, have to take your opportunities when they appear etc etc, but this is just 'what if'ing.) Breust is still contracted from what I see until 2017, and for GWS have Stevie J likely to go around again in 2017, plus Smith & Greene in the similar role; backup from Palmer and of course the developing Pickett. End of 2017 therefore seems a time GWS might look at this ... I'd expect GWS to have other pick and trade options equally enticing then.

The thing is to bring in the talent that has been linked to us ie Omeara, Mitchell or crouch you have to give up quality whether that be players or picks!
Picks around the 15 to 18 (which is where we will be around this year and next ) wont get it done so players will have to come into it and the one area of the ground we are very strong is the forward line and I think we can remain strong if we lose a player (breust)
Now I would hate to see him go (and he is contracted so would have to agree to trade) cause he is one of my favourites but if it means getting two of omeara, Mitchell or crouch (obviously other clubs and picks involved but the first rounder from gws the key) plus a player from youse and I think that would keep us in flag contention for a few more years

;) I agree - my answer was somewhat tongue-in-cheek that many on your board can't see that you can afford & might have to lose some quality in a well-stocked area to gain elsewhere. It's a strategy that will help Hawthorn stay strong - but if GWS can mutually benefit I'm not averse to doing it ... then it's a competition to see whose gamble pays off!

Last years missed trades are starting to add up. McCarthy I can stomach, we stuck to our guns to send a message. Carlton were ready to give pick 11 for Tommo, looks like we'll be lucky to get a 2nd rounder now. Richmond apparently were set to give pick 12 for Steele. We could of had a mortgage on the first round this year.

The consensus on the Carlton board seems to be that basically the main reason the Tomlinson trade fell through was because of the whole McCarthy saga and the public spotlight of the situation in 'forcing' McCarthy to stay while letting Tomlinson go...anyone know if this is true?

Nope dont think so.
We let a few go last year.
Club still had faith he would come good for us. Oh well. Will get a pick this trade period.

Last week he was free in my view, this week price goes up. Will you use him as a Wing/outside mid if it gets done do you think? He might work better there

IMO we'll use him as a half forward/wing...seems to be his best position where he can use his running strength.
Read on here that he's not really great as a key position forward.

I think the other aspect could have been that the offer came in very late and therefore wasn't really useable. I believe that GWS had made their mind up to take just the four academy kids, and had enough points for them. They probably felt that they didn't have time to trade it (e.g. for a future pick) and keeping it didn't really add anything for the 2015 draft. Another pick, and 11 at that, probably would have just seen someone bid on Kennedy higher and we wouldn't have had a live pick until later in the draft - which everyone was saying lacked value past about 25.

But I agree with GG that first and foremost we wanted to keep him because we thought he still added value to the playing team. I (personal view) won't say it's a decision that should be regretted by GWS - he's provided utility value - but agree that he hasn't developed as much as other specialist players (e.g. Lobb and Patton forward, Greene forward, Kelly inside/outside mid) have, who've locked down spots in front of him.

Just from watching him play that position, yeah hard to say exactly why not. Just doesnt seem to get it done. He does have a big tank and his disposal a lot better today, and generally at NEAFL level. I'd still want him to perform better in high pressure games, in all honesty before you could be confident he's a lock at AFL for anyone.

He has no intensity when the ball is near him. Just dont think he can adjust to the speed at AFL level. Dont think he'd be any different in the fwd line. Big bodied, one paced mid. He just wont get a game in our centre square so hard to know if he will make it there. He might be good with Cripps.

Havnt seen it anywhere but how many years has Lobb got on his contract?
That knucklehead Karl Langdon said on Perth radio that we are looking at giving up our first rounder for him. Sounds like fairyland stuff

It might be a plan to see if he wants to play for you. Just saying.

1st rounder...how generous!!!

Maybe throw in a rookie selection to make a Monty of it...
Ha, that's what I thought when he said it.
Lobb would be in the untouchable category I'd imagine. Sounds like something he just made up but I don't honestly know what his cred is like in Perth and how accurate he is with any of his rumours

Offer whatever you want - you ain't getting him.

If you wanted him you should have drafted him in the first place - going at pick 29 every team had their chance.
Any club would want him and yes everyone overlooked him.
Absolutely untouchable, was just the first time I've really heard his name mentioned in a trade sense so was wondering if there was any slight bit more to it
