Let's not all fall back into the mentality of a few years ago where all we talked about was keeping kids on the list because they had potential to improve each year... he reality is we are in a window and need to do whatever we can to improve the team NOW.

Does having lids in he 22 make us better? I think it does
Nailed it!....Surely with the amount of players being traded out we can afford him.Lets just prey Palmer gets traded out and then the whole team can kick.

What $ would Palmer be on?..300-350?Pay Deledio $550 and Tigers make up the difference and we pay overs by giving them pick 15.Makes sense to me and he fills Stevie J role in 2018 as well

Brett Deledio has officially nominated GWS as trade destination!

Good get for you blokes. Absolutely love Lids. He is an absolute champion. I'm gonna miss him, but he has given this club everything and deserves to have some success in his career, so not going to hold it against him.

Apparently Pick 15 will be involved. Pick 31 may be involved as well if Richmond pay a chunk of his salary.

mate if Lewis goes to melb for free lids isn't going for pick 15. U want a first rounder u better pay most of that salary
think we will pay 80% of it. clubs will do the deal we get picks we need you get a gun to help you towards a flag

Great get for you guys.
A fully-fit Deledio is one of the best players in the competition.
If we pay a majority of his wage then I think you guys will give us some decent picks back in return.

Wahoo, Deledio is a real gun

No comparison with Griffen. Griffen was historically injury prone and depends on his physical presence to influence games.

Deledio is a very very smart player, great skills, great leader. An on-song Deledio made Richmond look like a *good team*...!

Would take 25 possessions from Deledio over nearly every other player in the game

Our team is mature and we want to win right now. Deledio for a pick 16 or whatever, perfect.

Love the academy kids, but I would happily take 2-3 years of Deledio right now over the moderate chance of an academy success story

Mate if Lids gets the ball 25 times the opposition is in real trouble lol

First time I've been disappointed in our list approach no matter what's said this just causes more cap pressure and I would go as far 2 say it's an arrogant (swans type tippet buddy move) just doesn't sit well with me at all.

I hope you win a flag with Lids. (as long as its not against us)
IMO he is capable of playing for another 5 years.
He has been the Tigers best players for the last 10 years. Martin and Rance probably passed him in the last 2 years but they are stars.

Tremendous news!! I love Deledio, he's one of my favourite players in the league and has been for some time. And honestly, when fit to me he's a top 10, if not top 5 player in the league. All class, and can play pretty much anywhere. Doesn't matter what picks you give up, he'll be worth it.

Holy crap

I know some won't like this decision but he is quality

Him and SJ has played in the prelim we win

Can't wait for next season. Hello 20k members

100% on board with this one, was iffy on SJ and look how that worked out, will be very excited if we get it over the line

Definitely unimpressed if it's pick 15 involved (even worse if pick 31 also, as someone postulated). We've traded first round kids for nothing, but going to trade in aging players with limited time left for early picks? He'll be 30 next season, becoming prone to soft tissue injuries and on a massive salary. Will push a kid out of the team. Probably cost us someone from next year's academy too. Sure I accept he's been a great player for the Tiges, although I've never looked at him and thought 'want GWS to grab him'; but while Stevie J benefitted the team this year, adding Lids next year I think will not. A poor move from the list management team IMO. The only way it works is if it involves a player trade (e.g. WHE) and not a first round pick, and his salary takes a significant haircut (and not from us giving Richmond an extra pick!), but that's not what's being said.

Why are the picks used to get him relevant to this argument? If he makes us better then he pick is better spent than the unknown of more youth talent

If that's the case let's give Richmond pick 2 for a 30 year old who's best day's are over next year isn't everything.

The trade hasn't happened yet
