I think a pretty good reason is that they would rate Marchbank more than that on his own, which would be hard to argue isn't fair enough, even without the other two. They rate him very highly I believe.

The only thing that might be working in our favour is the tweaking of the academy rules and their further need to created space on their list for said academy players. If we got those 3 for 23 I think we have done a bit of theivery. Wait and see I guess.

It would be nice to see us go hard at the draft again however, very keen to see what SOS can come up with. Think/hope he looks to add another mid first round pick to our selections at least.
What I'm saying is that the points total is equivalent to 23 in that proposed scenario, and that's the lowest their 1st round picks can go. Will more likely be around #14.

Stewart would be us doing them a favour, and Marchbank and Pickett represent huge risks for them in terms of their next contracts, especially Pickett because of their midfield contingent and his game being mostly outside (due to his frame, more than anything).

The only way I like us downgrading 5 that way is if the new first round pick becomes what we trade to secure a healthy O'Meara.

I don't want to trade Zach. I'd love to see him further up the ground considering we have plenty of options off half back

I get that the pick we may get for him could land us 3 players but will they be any good?

Marchbank unproven...Pickett hasn't played an AFL match yet and Stewart could be either an upgrade on Cas or another Gorringe type

So we want to recruit the Bulldogs 10th best midfielder? Are we trying to build a team to try and win a premiership or just be competitive?
3 years ago sydney board meeting: 'do we really want to sign carlton's 7th best defender?'. he's a quality player who can't get a game because of the bulldogs depth. he'd be our 4th best midfielder, he can play inside and out, give cripps a partner on the inside and i don't know if you've seen our midfield depth but frankly it's pathetic.

Melksham was traded for pick 25ish, Redden for a pick in the teens. Tuohy is twice the player of those guys.
Doc and Yeo went around 30.
Our only chance is Sydney otherwise we will have to send considerable steak knives to get a first rounder for Touhy. I cannot actually believe people think North would give up their 2017 first for him

They may but only if the guy they rate looks likely to be sitting at around ~ #25-#30 odd.

That way it may be Tuohy & #30 for #11. Even that seems unlikely but.......

Project Keep Pick #5

Trade #1 -- Zach Tuohy to North for their 2017 first round pick

Trade #2 (a modification to the rumor to make it more likely in my eyes) -- Andrejs Everitt + Nick Graham + Bulldog's 3rd (pick 48, 302 points) to Gold Coast for Port Adelaide's 2nd round pick (pick #27 - 703 points). It rates Everitt and Graham as worth 401 points (pick 42)

Trade #3 -- North's 2017 1st round pick + pick 23 (815) + pick 27 (703) + pick 41 (412) (1930 points in 2016) to GWS for pick 15 (1112) + Marchbank + Pickett + Stewart.

If North finish eighth next year it values the GWS trio as a pick 3. This is high and North probably do slip out of the eight next year but I think we come out looking good overall;

Carlton draft picks after trading

5 -- Knightmare has Marshall as 5th best (McLuggage, Brodie, Perryman*, Petrevski-Seton, Marshall)
15 -- Knigthmare has Tarranto, Gallucci and Drew ranked 15-17
59 -- upgrade Ciaran Byrne
77 -- upgrade Ciaran Sheehan

If no other delistings take place:

Out: Tuohy, Everitt, Graham, Walker, Jamison, Foster, Dick (7)
In: Marchbank, Pickett, Stewart, 5, 15, Byrne, Sheehan (7)

Rookie draft: We have about three selections (Byrne and Sheehan being elevated and Wood's retirement)
You think Sheehan will be kept?

Docherty had hardly played at the Lions and Yeo was just starting to show signs. Also, Crazy Vossy was at the helm...Tuohy has put together a very consistent three years of football, any side would love to have him and he'd play 20+ games - pick in teens please.

Something extra would have to get thrown in but apparently North are four year contract keen.

That's the problem if we arn't willing to match that then we get a second rounder noway they offer their first

Yeo had shown plenty and Doc was a pick 12 who hadn't done anything to diminish his value. Should have been a top 25 return atleast.

It's obviously where SOS will start negotiations, who knows what will actually happen though

There are very few instances where teams give up low picks for players older than 26.
Patful got Brisbane a pick 20 (Draft picks are like play money for GWS though)
Cooney got WB around pick 37
Griffen was part of a bigger trade (again GWS)
Jolly got the Swans pick 16.

Why would you give up draft picks which should deliver 10 yr players if you back your recruiters for players that may have 2-4 years left.

It would be madness for Brisbane to give up a 2nd rounder for Rowe when they can just get Brown from Collingwood as a free agent for nothing.

Richmond are going to be equally disappointed if they think they will get anything substantial for Delidio.

If North really want him, they'll have to give us something good. From our point of view, we have to get a first rounder out of them for it to be worth it.

Tuohy + 41 for 11 rates Tuohy around pick 20.
