Can anyone set some light on thoughts of how Thomo will go this year. Got a couple mates there and they seem very confident. I was there on Tuesday for a couple beers and they have recruited heavly and just started up a under 19's. Word is a loyal sponsor splashing out heaps $$$$$$$.

Thomastown have had very good under 19's teams in the past the last team about three years ago won the combined div2 and div3 grand final So good on them for getting the unders up and going again the nfl needs all teams to field under 19's

Big news at the bear cave down watching training having a beer overheard the bear hierarchy having deep discussions a possibility looking at the edfl for season2017 very intense i might add

Whats their gripe with the NFL ?

They appear to be progressing very well and i couldn't fathom why they'd move to a different league in a different area?

Agreed, seems quite odd.

They've been in div 1 before, albeit a bit of a write off season. Seem to be coming good now, and they had a pretty impressive season.

On face value it seems to very bizarre position for a club to stand. I dare say it's come blokes from the outside in the inner sanctum.

Doesn't make much sense in my opinion geographically... As well as no local rivalries

Panton Hill topping up nicely, Scott Conte premiership player from Greensy and Matt Duckworth from Lower Plenty.

How do you guys rate Steve Krstevski, been at 4 clubs in 4 years. Got the arse from all 4 clubs. Now coaching Bundoora reserves.

I think you are being a bit harsh Steve left thomo as they were going to appoint a reserves coach which was not suited he could not change the committees minds so he left then spent a year helping out at watsonia then last year at the northern saints and that club imploded when the young man died during a game it tore the heart out of the joint .
Steve has a good footy brain and is a teaching coach Bundoora 2 are in good hands

He'll get the sack before season ends. A few of the senior players asking why , what, when, how. Not much respect around for steve.

Thats a load of shit, everybody wanted him out. From players, comittee and members.

I know one of the players at watsonia and Steve was very well thought of by the playing group and they would have preferred him coaching them over the bloke who was the senior coach , and just a point of clarification Steve was not appointed he just helped out for the season. So its a bit hard to be sacked if you are just helping out. you may not like him and accusing of all sort of rubbish is too easy when you hide behind the key board .

He is a young bloke doing his best, he will only improve IMO..

Moving away from this topic slighty, what do you think makes a good coach these days? Would you take someone with a good 'footy brain' and 'people person' or someone a bit old school with a harder edge?

From the coaches I've had over the years I've found that the best ones are the ones that had a presence or aura about them. They are great blokes to have a beer with but don't ever do anything wrong by them on the field or they'd let you and the rest of the team have it. I think it's important for the team to know who's boss and that they control what happens with the side.

The less successful coaches I've had, have had the good 'footy brain' but have tried to be too chummy with players, having favourites and have had a difficult time making the hard decisions. These coaches had players walk all over them.

I think it's no coincidence that Thommo's fortunes have turned around in the last couple of years with Sinclair returning after 4 years under the previous two coaches. Having known him for years, a great bloke is Deano, but when he passed through those gates, he meant business.
