The reality is that if Port lose any of their star power they struggle big time because the underlings aren't up to the grade and hence have a side full of golden tickets. While Adelaide isn't perfect either I believe we do have the ability to confidently drop under performing players and the golden tickets no longer exist. Oh and your draft selections are mediocre at best which is only natural due to you selling the farm for Dixon and Toumpas. I would be surprised if any of them make the grade long term.

My point all started with saying I believe Toumpas will be depth for us and then i was told he is a flop and Menzel is an absolute gun and then I said that if he is such a gun why was he let go so easily. Yeah you were lucky with Betts but Bolton is not an idiot and knows players.

Well then your answer to my question is that depth is more important so then you would be believing that you are closer to a Premiership than us with that logic. Raincheck.
Menzel has shown he is a gun at AFL level before his injuries. Toumpas has shown bubkis.

So why would Bolton let him go so easily is my question?
I believe overall the talent on our list as a whole is far better and our list is better balanced. Your list is suffering because of the premature rise as a result of 10 good games which has cost you draft picks. The fact their is room on your list for Butcher speaks volumes!

Anyway I guess we could be going around in ever biased circles ad infinitum so I will show your board some respect and leave now.
Got an offer of 4 players from GWS as a bulk deal for a second round pick. They traded Menzel as an opportunity to gain that pick. I am not saying Menzel will be a star for us. He may be a bust, all I am saying is he has shown a lot more at AFL level.

If his reported attitude and work ethic issues are true, then he's not what you'd want around a rebuilding side full of kids, where there isn't a strong leadership presence. Kerridge and Wright may not be as talented, but the one thing you could never accuse them of is not having a work ethic or not trying their hardest. Besides, as good as he is, he's the cherry on top of a side at the moment, and Carlton don't even have a cake.
Now obviously the hope is that being traded is a wake up call to Menzel since he A. has guys in front of him who are performing and B. can't live off his reputation and draft status now that he's running into his 4th year. So far it appears he's doing everything right, but thats probably natural to begin with. The real test will be will he still work his ass off if he starts the year in the SANFL and will he do the hard yards necessary to push his way into the 22 if he doesn't get there straight away.

Not at all I am leaving because It's not my board and I didn't expect the convo. to go on for so long or attract so much interest. I still have the view that we have enough depth and that Toumpas will be part of that depth.
He started reasonably well - Craigy should have stuck with him and not embarrassed him with the DVD in front of the SA public. Could've been a very different story.

Every good a chance to be part of our team, I still believe that 100%. Many on your board have said that Menzel will not start in your 22 anyway. I was saying Toump will add to our side and depth as Menzel will to yours. I was commenting about the additional depth from this draft and trade period that we have without losing a gun player which should mean our depth has improved. Anyway the problem when discussions run too long it all gets lost.No you said Toumpus was every bit as good a chance as Menzel

The Dees were not wanting a decent player & 2nd rounder for toumpas though...Classic
Menzel will be an AFL star, Toumpus will play a lot of footy for the magpies and you will be very disappointed when Port again fail to live up to expectations.
Didn't want to ruin his career by keeping him at carlton
