Read my last post, throwing crap at us about 2007 or the tarps won't bring us down :) :) It just makes everything now all the sweeter :)
What's sweeter though? The imaginary stopping Hawks 4Peat?
Re-signing Butcher? Missing the finals?

An AFL franchise was formed, an SANFL club remained in the SANFL.

Both clubs struggled financially due to supporters deserting both clubs once they started losing games.

However the AFL franchise was able to takeover the SANFL club to turn it into an AFL reserves team and legitimise a claim on history.

But to suggest this to a Tealster is akin to telling a devout Christian the world is older than 4000 years old. Let them believe their fable and have a sing song about how hard done by they were.

Are you sure that is correct? My understanding is that the original PAFC was awarded the AFL sub-license via the SANFL. Part of the license conditions was that a Port Adelaide team remained in the SANFL, hence a new entity was created for that purpose.

Was disappointing as were your 2013 and 2014 I am sure, or have you forgotten those now?... but from our membership numbers I see no evidence of massive deflation.

And what about crowd numbers? The figures that determine if your supporters actually go to the effort to turn up and watch you play.

I have followed Port Adelaide for over 60 years ..
It was the Port Adelaide Football Club Inc, Nickname Magpies, that got the licence for the AFL and they became ....Port Adelaide Football Club Ltd. ..... Nickname Power ... when they entered the AFL
The SANFL still wanted a Port Adelaide side in their competition and the... Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club Inc. ...was formed and were not allowed to train at Alberton. It was the SANFL that broke up Port Adelaide and now it is back to one Club at Alberton.
All these details can be confirmed online with a little research .......

Blinkered.....sigh!

The new entity was the Power.

The make up of the Power was exactly the same as us. SANFL were responsible for the financial viability of the franchise, SANFL appointed board members and players spread across the league when not playing AFL. Members having no rights in terms of electing board members. The token "member appointed" board position was introduced later and even the all candidates were approved by the SANFL.

How do you explain SANFL involvement with the make up of their board in relation to the fable they believe?

Meanwhile the Magpies continued as a club where members had full voting rights. As it had since 1870.

Nah, all teams have to take the good with the bad. Things like that show how far we've come really.

Except with Port fans the 'bad' results in your rabid loyal supporter base deserting the club, only to return when you think success is imminent. I noticed last year when you started dropping games at home, the hesitancy of Port fans in waving their scarves during Never Tear Up the Tarps.

Yes, my fellow Crow's fans, this is my understanding also and it's a pretty simple concept to grasp. Get into theses people all you like, but it's embarrassing to need manufacture information or simply be ignorant of the facts.

Considering you supposedly have 2 thirds of the state following you who might come to some GA games occasionally and we have only 1 third at this stage and less 11 game members than you due to KT's plan to grow our club I would say our crowd numbers are bloody good. You should sell out every game but you don't.

Yep, I only had to look at the comments to guess who this is before reading your name. 12 year old who just doesn't have any inkling at all about how to have a conversation. Sad .

So you are denying this happened? Go back to your childish fantasy.

How has that answered why your fans didn't turn up when you were losing?

And there's nothing wrong with our crowds, don't deflect

I'm not talking about accumulating supporters. You HAD the supporters showing up in 2007, where did they all go in 2012?

Weren't they getting crowds 13-15k?

And notice how he's tried to address most posts except for the ones about their supporters abandoning the club when they needed them.

I am explaining that is why there is a difference in the crowd numbers between the two clubs, not deflecting, just offering an explanation. I'm not denying our lot didn't turn up back them, the evidence is there, but there's something called progress, thank goodness and we are coming out of a dark place. Time will tell if crowds ever fall off again like that and if they do I will be bitterly disappointed but for the moment all is good.

Really?

What is so funny here is you all keep banging on about something that is fact. Our supporters dropped off. Yes they did. What is there to argue about? In fact I'm not denying any of your points. Yes there was a massive dip in the years that followed 2012 and we yes thanks to KT we are now re-gaining ground. There would be no port supporter who isn't happy about the improvements. My comments were that those terrible times make these days even sweeter. Ups and downs part of life.

Yeah really. You've deflected you've got a shocking supporter base full of bandwagon supporters.
I have always found that these type of generalisations and over generalisations are a go-to stance for those who can't just have a fair and mature discussion. A bit like a 12 year old who uses memes. I once told a crows supporter who came onto our board, and was very rude and nasty to piss off. I wish I hadn't done that. I would rather state my case these days but some just take the easy way with slanging matches. Another sad one.

Sorry to say it's already happened.

First 2 home games of 2015 - after missing out in 2014, you are talked up as premiership fancies. You're expecting greatness this year. All the so-called supporters are out in force. Games against Sydney and Hawthorn. Crowds: 49,765 & 50,675

Round 10. Hmm shit we are 4-5 ... this isn't going to plan. Crowd: 41,813

Round 18. Well we're 7-9... We'll click back into 2014 mode soon... right? Crowd: 36,850

Round 20. The bulldogs ened our season last week with a 10 goal thumping. What the **** is happening? Where is Kern at? Crowd: 33,281

Oh please Mr Mature One. Don't think we don't know what you are doing, you come on here pretending to have mature discussions whilst throwing in subtle jabs.

There is nothing wrong with what i wrote. A vast majority of your supporter base stayed away when you were losing, bleeding money and the club needed you. Now they've returned when you were winning, there is no getting around you have a bandwagon supporter base.

I'm sorry if that offends you but it's the truth and nothing you've written has countered that.

You are aware that the fist few games were against top 8 clubs (remember our draw?) You haven't factored in oppositions we played and time slots. Can't just pick and choose, but thank's for at least attempting some sort of argument, no matter how flawed. We will never get sell outs due to number of 3 game members at this stage however I have hear that we have a lot more 11 gamers signed up this year already, after the disappointing 2015.

It's pretty much why they need massive PR campaigns in the summer at the moment to tell everyone (including themselves) how good they are going to be to get their fans to all show up in the first few rounds and hope they win. If they dont, the same will happen.
