You just said it was the SANFL that requested a magpies team so we are in agreement that PAFC had no intentions of keeping the magpies. So PAFC was going to kill the magpies on its own. Hard to suggest then the SANFL were trying to tear you apart, yet you do?
Exactly

I have followed Port Adelaide for over 60 years ..
It was the Port Adelaide Football Club Inc, Nickname Magpies, that got the licence for the AFL and they became ....Port Adelaide Football Club Ltd. ..... Nickname Power ... when they entered the AFL
The SANFL still wanted a Port Adelaide side in their competition and the... Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club Inc. ...was formed and were not allowed to train at Alberton. It was the SANFL that broke up Port Adelaide and now it is back to one Club at Alberton.
All these details can be confirmed online with a little research .......

And the world is only 4000 years old. That can also be verified on the internet with a little research.

As I said, let them believe their fable.

Where did I say that PAFC were going to kill the Magpies. Port wanted to keep all their teams. It was the SANFL that killed them off. All PAFC Junior Teams are gone .......

Check the highlighted. Why would the SANFL feel the need to request a side in the SANFL if Port were going to keep all their sides. Would it be because Port had no intention of having a Magpies team at all.

If port owned the licence from the start, why did they have to buy it off of the SANFL last year?

Rewriting history again.

Port Power wanted the port magpies killed off when they entered the Afl... But it was the Sanfl that insisted the magpies remain as they were worried it would be detrimental for the competition. Now the power & magpies have kissed & made up to be one happy family again. Brings a tear to the eye. ;)

History in the re-making... ;)

Given the Sanfl bailed port out, they effectively gave the $'s to buy their license... So could be argued that the crows paid for much of port's license... ;)

The SANFL held the licence and Port gave 4 million back the SANFL who paid for the licence in the first place. When Adelaide and Port got their licence back from SANFL both Clubs have to give money to them for same. Good double dipping by SANFL...

You can't apply logic to a fairy tale.

Port spent their entire AFL history trying to murky the waters of what actually is the truth about what happened in the 90s regarding their AFL bids to hide the truth that they never wanted the magpies, they turned their back on the magpies as they wanted no part in the SANFL. This 'One Club' marketing BS is just rubbish. The only reason the SANFL agreed to it was to keep the Magpies in the competition as they want the appearance of a strong league and a club folding in the league would have been a massive blow.

lol, Port couldn't buy their way out of a wet paper bag let alone give anyone $4m

How come the SANFL appointed most of the board members to the Power, as they did the Crows, untill recently when the SANFL had those licences taken away from them?

And yet the Magpies remained an independent club, with member appointed board members who existed under the same Club Constitution as it did pre 1997.

As a supporter of 50 years I assume you were a member of the Magpies pre 1997 and thus were entitled to vote on all board member positions in annual AGMs. And yet as a Power member you have never had that right. How do you reconcile this with the fable you suggested in your first post?

A club (any club sporting or non sporting) is essentially two things, its membership and the constitution it is bound by. The Magpies membership rights and constitution never changed until the merger with the Power franchise.

but but but but but...............CARN the PEAR!

Whilst we are talking about Port's history, 2007 GF being replayed at 6am Thursday morning. Would it be unkind to tag our Port friends in to let them know it's on?
Nah, all teams have to take the good with the bad. Things like that show how far we've come really.

Errr... see the thing about that is... Bye!

really if anything you are yet to reach where you were in 2007.
I mean since the devastation of that GF loss and the years that followed and the 2011 2012 years. We overachieved to make that GF that year and I still shudder remembering that day. Now we are gradually building and back in a good place . Not denying the loss, aware of your shadenfreude and it is to be expectected from Crows people but no amount of bringing up 2007 or the tarps or whatever else you want to throw at us will deflate us now :).

Nah, all teams have to take the good with the bad..

Is that why your average crowds went from under 30k when you were challenging for a flag in 07, to under 20k in 2012 when you were 14th and losing to GWS? Sounds like your supporters refused to take the bad with the good if crowd figures are anything to go by

I would have thought last year would have deflated you

Read my last post, throwing crap at us about 2007 or the tarps won't bring us down :) :) It just makes everything now all the sweeter :)

Was disappointing as were your 2013 and 2014 I am sure, or have you forgotten those now?... but from our membership numbers I see no evidence of massive deflation.
