AFL have form on this though. Melbourne wasn't punished for Bailey and Connolly tanking.
But they used the excuse that they couldn't prove the Dees tanked...even though everyone knew they did.

However, Whitfield & officials have already been found guilty... so all that needs to be decided is the clubs penalty... which should be the easy part.

I was being half a smart arse, but the resemblance is there. They haven't found GWS guilty of avoiding drug tests.

Whitfield & 2 club officials have been found guilty... Then so should the club.

It really is that simple.

Otherwise I want our picks back as AFC are not responsible for Reid, Trigg & co.

Interesting comments by the Police Commisioner, no negotiation with them about handing himself in until 11am, but said through the media he heard Port did.

Also mentions when Impey was stopped with the bike that they hadn't finished investigations and Impey wasn't wanted for questioning yet and Impey didn't disclose the accident. So he had an opportunity to come clean and didn't.

I have a feeling they will go in reasonably hard as he can't use a defence of panicking when hours later he still didn't come clean when he had the chance.

Here's the article for those that can't get past the paywall...

‘No negotiations’ between police and Port Adelaide over Jarman Impey ‘hit-run’, police commissioner says

THERE were no negotiations between Port Adelaide Football Club and police before youngster Jarman Impey went to a station 16 hours after his alleged hit-run crash at Norwood, Commissioner Grant Stevens says.

Explosive forward/defender Impey, 21, crashed his white Holden Commodore into parked cars on George St, Norwood, about 7pm on Saturday, December 3, after leaving a party at teammate Angus Monfries’ house.

Impey fled the scene and did not present to a police station until about 11am on Sunday.

When asked by The Advertiser during an interview on Monday if there were any negotiations with the club prior to that, Mr Stevens said “no”.

“My understanding is we didn’t have contact with him until such time as he presented at a police station,” he said.

“My understanding is ... that, through his discussions – and this is only what I’ve seen in the media, through his discussions with the Port Adelaide Football Club, an understanding or an agreement was made between them that he would present to police in the morning.”

Port Adelaide fined both Impey and teammate Aidyn Johnson, who was also in the car, $5000 and banned them from playing in Round 1 next year.

It later emerged that Impey had been stopped by police while riding a bike without a light hours after the crash.

Mr Stevens confirmed that Impey had not mentioned the crash at that time.

“He was stopped when he was riding a bicycle but at that time the inquiry in relation to the collision and who was actually the driver was ongoing and there was no alert for the people involved in that collision. And there was no disclosure (from Impey) at that time,” he said.

No, they should. I do all those things (salmon pink ties only). They just shouldn't broadcast it all over the internet in a desperate cry for attention. Teenage girls do that.

I doubt Ian Curtis (one of my idols) on his final night on earth, if had the chance, would have rushed to his Instasnapdorkchat account and written 'OMG LOL just watched Stroszek and listened to Iggy Pop - hashtag friyay lol'. He was a man's man

That's a very generous interpretation of Ian Brady ;)

AFLPA have conceded and now aren't looking to have their salaries a % of income including what AFL makes through Etihad from Coldplay concerts, BBL, A League, government grants and bequeaths.

I've never owned a stadium, but I would imagine the turnover is huge and so are the expenses, so would have been a great deal for the players to get 27% of the turnover for etihad regardless of what the actual profit is.

Figured I'd find some people who agree with me here on this outside the Melbourne board.

Anyone else find it ironic Dangerfield turned down much larger $$$ offers from you guys and (Reportedly) us to go to Geelong, now he is leading the AFLPA in the battle for a much higher pay packet?

I fail to see the irony. The reasons for going to Geelong were obvious to everyone. It wasn't just about money and I would like to see that cited as a reason above the family card that was played. Now that he is where he wants him to be, why should he stop what has already been an on-going process of players seeking a greater percent of the money pie?

Seems more like conflating two issues to me just to take a shot at him. Thats fine if thats how you structure it, but not so if you're being deliberately disingenuous.

Didn't he apparently "lose" his mobile phone earlier, hence why he couldn't call the police when the accident/accidents occurred?

I mean you can't expect a 21 year old to be able to function let alone communicate without the aid of their phone, even if it is to a person standing right in front of them.

Can we have some media outrage please? And also the tinfoil hat brigade on BF to dive into the conspiracy theories?

Cam Mooney has obviously been influenced by the Geelong recruiting team to help drop the price of Dusty's free agency next year.

I bet Geelong first contacted Roo to see how to go about coercing a mate to talk down a player so that player's contract is worth less.

I am shocked
Shocked and outraged

If you only have one decent player the old saying "he's worth a million bucks" clearly CLEARLY means he's worth a million bucks !

Cam Mooney can GAGF

I would think the conspiracy is that Cam Mooney is looking after the old guys who didn't get any money. Making sure supporters sit there and say '' what and they want more money''!!

AFLPA doesn't like this

It isn't a good thing when the CEO has problems with the language. Perhaps he was in China too long. The non-word 'learnings' is corporate-speak bullshit.

China trip gives plenty of learnings to footy department, says CEO Keith Thomas:
cultural learnings of China to make great benefit glorious football club of Port Adelaide

Yep when overseas make sure your players if drunk and prang into cars lose their phones, steal a bike, flee, say nothing to the cops and then hide until sober.
