It isn't a good thing when the CEO has problems with the language. Perhaps he was in China too long. The non-word 'learnings' is corporate-speak bullshit.

Port Adelaide FC

@PAFC

China trip gives plenty of learnings to footy department, says CEO Keith Thomas:
Fat fingers on phone. Missed out the prefix "fallout from..."

Been meaning to post this for some time. Can Port please go back to wearing that shit colour instead of the pale blue aqua they're trying to pass off as teal, they're ruining my perception of the Carolina Panthers.

And here I thought Carolina were ruining your perception of Carolina ;)

"What have we learnings ?"

Here's a thought - pop it on the scoreboard at training !!!!!
Did he actually say what the learnings were that they got for their footy dept from a country that doesn't play footy ?
Apart from the "we had dumplings for breakfast " breakthrough revelation.

Not AFL, but what's with this idea of Christmas Day Big Bash? GAGF - who's going to attend? And how about the players and staff? In my opinion, no one should be working on Christmas or Easter unless it's a reasonably necessary activity. Typical example of commercialism being put ahead of Australian families. Kornes saying that 'someone will grab it, make it their own, and the Strikers will regret turning it down.'

Quick hide this from WW ;)

Plenty of people already work on Xmas day. It's surely no big deal.

I'm just not in favour of leaving everything open on holidays. I understand with doctors, defence force, refineries with machines that cost a fortune to shut down, et cetera. But I'm of the old-fashioned school, of the view that holidays are called holidays for a reason and commerce can take a temporary back seat for a few hours sometimes. If Rundle Mall, the Big Bash, Marion, restaurants, cafes, start opening on all holidays then you might as well abolish all holidays. But this is a discussion more appropriate for the Society Religion and Politics Board.

Even though I believe in Jesus, I've got no problem with Good Friday footy because we live in a secular country, and Good Friday doesn't have that very strong family-time element.

Not everyone is Christian/Catholic. Anyone who doesn't want to work on Christmas would be able to take the day off.

Some people would prefer to work Xmas day and then get two and a half days off when shit is actually open. Plenty of food and beverage outlets are open so that people can enjoy the day without the hassle of cooking and cleaning up after a dozen people. If workers don't put their hand up for the penalty rates and the public don't front, then it'll get canned pretty quickly. I don't feel that it's up to me to impose my holiday preferences onto others.

Surely there can be one day without sport ?? I'm not big on religion but I still think we can have a day or 2 when we don't play anything.

I won't be annoyed should it go ahead, but is it really necessary ??

No, they should. I do all those things (salmon pink ties only). They just shouldn't broadcast it all over the internet in a desperate cry for attention. Teenage girls do that.

I doubt Ian Curtis (one of my idols) on his final night on earth, if had the chance, would have rushed to his Instasnapdorkchat account and written 'OMG LOL just watched Stroszek and listened to Iggy Pop - hashtag friyay lol'. He was a man's man

It's human nature to seek attention to some extent, we now just have resources to exploit it. I bet you the same thing would have happened in most generations. I have family members in their 60s 70s who arguably abuse it more than my 'gen y' friends.

They played an AFL game on NYE 1999/2000 and people still turned up. Build it, and they will come.

These games are infuriating, and treats the public as idiots ......so Watson returns his Brownlow to AFL house, or did he ??

No Medal .....FFS ask Watson, isn't that easy ? ......why a big story in the Herald Sun Newspaper then

Did the dog eat Watson’s Brownlow?

THE AFL is refusing to say if Jobe Watson has been asked to return his Brownlow Medal and the Bombers stars’ manager also wasn’t forthcoming on the medal’s whereabouts.

I think I like him having a physical reminder of what he was once recorded as having had won.
