Probably, but you're not going to convict a guy over a text to his GF, he could easily have been joking.
If the text says "crashing at Craig's house"? Anything about "avoiding drug testers LOL" then he needs to be banned for idiocy before he starts making bomb jokes at airport checkins.

Just out of curiosity (Nikki?) What happens when a player decides to crash at a mate's house. He's obliged to keep "them" aware of his whereabouts, so who does he tell? I'm guessing the club has some sort of standard contact point?

Not sure how it works with AFL players, but professional cyclists can just login to a website and update their "whereabouts" on a daily basis. It's just part of the routine - one of those things that a professional athlete has to do each day.

Pity about the texts from the GWS staff members then... you should do some research about what is up about this, and it is very, very fishy. It's not just texts he sent to his GF but texts he sent to Allen and Lambert and that they sent as well. It is not a simple case of a woman scorned as some are trying to make it out to be.

Craig Lambert and Graeme Allen are in some serious strife, especially as they deleted the texts from their phones, but they still exist on other people's phones who have passed that information on to the AFL and now ASADA.

From what I understand they have a contact person at the club they alert to a change in where they are staying. That person updates a database which is forwarded on to the AFL and then ASADA.

So, as I understand it using your example, if a player is crashing at a mate's place. They text that to the club person, who updates their info. The next morning ASADA or AFL testers turn up at original address. They are not there, so they contact the club contact person and they can say, yes we got an update yesterday and this is where they are now. There is common sense regarding timeliness about notifying of a change of address. A number of clubs got done, including us, earlier this year about not updating the details in a timely manner.

As much as we'd like to weaken a team we might play against, this board would be 100% in his corner and calling it a nothing story if he played for the crows.

Def not at least Jenny and I, so you can't say 100% and your statements of fact are only part of the information we do have in relation to what occurred with Whitfield.

He wasn't suffering a migraine. He did miss a few training sessions and a game (against us) last year in May, where he played every other game that season with no issues. He had an 'illness' was the official reason for his non-selection.

The first contact from his then GF to the club with her concerns about him was in May.

Then when nothing happens and she gets no response back from the club (Allen, who she contacted in the first place) she contacts them again in July and she also includes ASADA in the contact, and finally the club does respond to her and decide to do an 'investigation'.

The GWS 'thorough' internal investigation was only done on Whitfield, Allen and Lambert, and Allen and Lambert had deleted all texts to do with it once it was announced there was going to be an investigation. Now if it is so innocent etc and nothing to see here as you state, why did they do that? Whitfield the idiot didn't delete his texts which involve Allen and Lambert as well, but he also didn't tell the investigator about them.

Finally when the AFL "Integrity Unit" got involved those texts and the deleted ones came to light.

It smells very fishy to me once you look at the evidence that has been released.

Didn't us and the Power have players cop fines for not telling the club exactly where they were staying.

I believe they are meant to be contactable 365 days a year.

Athletes can and have been banned for providing false "whereabouts" information.

Michael Rasmussen was kicked out of the Tour de France, while wearing yellow (the leader of the race), only days from the finish. This followed allegations that he had been spotted training in Italy, when he was claiming to be in Mexico. He was subsequently banned for 2 years, and never returned to the top level of racing.

Also, are Arizona and Utah still a popular place for clubs to do preseason camps.

Is it just my imagination or are these facilities being used less since the Essendon saga blew up.

I think you will find a lot of clubs now have their own pressure chambers that players can get the same benefit. I also don't think its quite the fad it was a few years ago. Teams are achieving good sustainable successful runs at the top without these camps.

As we found out last year, if you what to do heat training, just stay in Adelaide!

Sucks being a professional athlete every time they stay at someone else's house (say they have picked up a girl, or guy, when out and about) they have to alert someone?!

Maybe they should just add ASADA to "find my friends" and they can be tracked via their phone - problem solved.

No! We'll become the sucker sacrificial team to play in their ****hole stronghold. We already have to do that at ****ing Geelong!

so SHUDDDUUUPP GEOFFA32! Don't encourage it!

Bulldogs at Ballarat?

**** right off. GAGF Beveridge you silly fellow.

I don't want to see the Crows play at some two bit country ****hole venue.

Yeah we have our own shitty country venues like Ceduna, Berri, Mt Gambier, Pt Lincoln... :P

I believe they have 24 hours to notify where there are unexpected circumstances. Lewis said something along the lines of this on AFL360.

Perhaps we should just microchip atheletes & be done with it... ;)

PS. Waynesworld this is a joke...

Hmmm, we have our newest client in Ballarat... but this is a strange one. Should play a lower away supporting team like GWS or GC... or Port mid next season. ;)

Yeah should make it in Darwin. The melts from the Bev for lack of clear Bev would be delicious.
