I agree, I don't think we need both hurley and hibberd, and what he spend on hibberd will leave nothing left for hurley pick wise.
Don't think we need Hibberd either, given the plethora of back flanker types we already have with Milkshake to come in too, would only cough up a 3rd rounder for him.

You can keep him. The dees have come so far and are going to play finals easily next season and do damage the next, but Melksham is just okay. Cant see him playing ahead of a number of your young gun mids.
I think he would slot into Vandenberg's role.

Well you're probably right there, there's been a few recruits over the years that I didn't think we needed in heritier and melksham yet we got them. Obviously Goodwin has a plan for these players for the future or we're recruiting a team of back flankers.

Hibberd is exactly what we need. Good defender, excellent (intercept) mark, excellent kick. Would give us some dash out of defensive 50 and also release players like Hunt, Salem, etc, to play through the midfield (if he doesn't go there himself) as he's a much better defender without compromising the skills.

Exactly, Hunt and Salem have been trained in defence but I reckon both have been earmarked for roles up the ground ( though I can't fault hunt in defence he's a gem )
Hibberd is a better mark than both and a good kick out of defence. I think the dogs and Hawks have proved you can't have enough options off HB but you can certainly have not enough
With Vince and Lumumba gone in the next couple we are just making sure we have options and I'm all for that
As well as our defence is going they don't mark it often enough for mine

I also read that we were 15th in the AFL for pressure across the ground, that's our next area of improvement

The ol' coterie switcharoo. Tyson to Melbourne, Prestia to Richmond.

Jason Taylor sits down with Mr and Mrs prestia

Taylor- well it took alot of hardwork, but we managed to secure your son!

Mrs Prestia- ummmm, that's not our son that's Dom Tyson

Paul Roos- Awwwee can we keep him anyway!!! ???

I would have Ms painted Tysons head onto hans moleman but I'm on a bus lol

Pardon intrusion but what is Dunn's story?? Can he play a zone? One on One? Seems a big kick - accurate??

Seems on the outer and overtaken. Contracted still? Price?

Isn't fast enough for the way our defence plays, but is still probably the best 1on1 tall defender on our list. Is a huge kick with reasonable accuracy, isn't laser-like but not bad either.

The club would take a 3rd I think, late 2nd at a stretch?

The more I think about it the more he could be a solid stop-gap pickup for the Dogs, just to play on the gorillas. Isn't overly tall but is bloody strong, can stand toe to toe with the likes of Hawkins and not budge an inch.

Our third and Dunn for the Dogs second, maybe.

Hibberd still hasn't committed. Would like him but no more than our 2nd rounder. Our second may end up 30 or so with academy picks. Would make up for over paying for Melksham.

God no to Hibberd, we already have one drug cheat on our list.

But if you look at our defense it's very settled. The McDonalds, Frost, Jetta, Hunt, Harmes, Vince and we have further depth. Melksham will have to fit in somehow (which i doubt he will) but if we add Hibberd that means taking Hunts spot.

**** that.

We've already thrown a pick away on one of them, i hope we're not stupid enough to do it again

Who do we drop to fit him in?

Solid veteran key defender.

Rumours were floating about he might have stuck his willy somewhere he shouldn't have early on in the year, and found himself on the outer as a result.

I can't see us being a serious contender with Vince or in particular Harmes playing across half back. Not to say that Hibberd is necessarily the answer, but is an area where we're thin.
