2017 Ladder Predictions

Not sure why everyone has Adelaide so high. Yes, they have an excellent forward line, but elsewhere they look average. Last year they had a dream run with injuries and finished sixth. They haven't recruited anyone and lost depth players.
Where is the improvement coming from?

This was the ladder just before the "storm in a teacup" hit us with full force!

After round 17 Essendon was told they're getting kicked from finals. Since then the players haven't been 100% focused with what they've been through. The mental anguish is undeniable and ever since then the team performance has been on decline.
Others may call bullshit but it's my observation and this isn't the HTB so lets move on and not discuss that part.
From that team til now we've lost Ryder and Carlisle which are the biggest lost and Watson and Goddard have aged and their performance will be a shadow of that year. What Essendon has gained is Daniher, Zerrett and Heppells bodies have matured and hitting their prime. Our KPD is still solid with Hurley and Hooker the oldest at only 28, we have a good core of young talent to support around the ground in Parish, Francis, Tippa and Laverde.
Since then Essendon has gained goal kickers in Fantasia, Langford and hopefully McCluggage with pick one.
Overall our list has improved since 2013 bar ruckman, Ryder is superior to Luey and Bellchambers.

The only unknown is how the players will go after a year off, will they burn out or will they be emotionally charged from what they've been through.

I'm not so sure about feeling. Touhy (spelling?) is a great pick up but there losses are huge. Caddy, Bartel, Enright, Vardy, Clark, Kersten. On top of that guys like Mackie and Lonergon are on the way out. The bottom half of there 22 is very average. Danger and Selwood will always have them there abouts but I reckon they are gonna drop out the 8 this year especially if either of those do a hammy.

When you lack depth, losing depth players doesn't help. Their list has deteriorated from the start of the season. Certainly more likely to regress than be a real threat.

You're allowed to think that, but history has shown that you'll be wrong. Their list is in a similar state to what it was last year.

Clarke and Vardy's losses won't hurt them, but Kersten did at least play 17 games and kicked 22 goals and kicked 3 or more goals in 5 games, so he presumably helped them to win those matches (they won all of those 5) and now they need to find those goals from elsewhere. Caddy also kicked 21 for the season, so they've lost two of the top 6 in their goalkicking from this year.

They also lose Enright (who was so good this year he made the AA team and was only beaten in their B&F by Danger and Selwood), plus Bartel and add Touhy- who's no Enright- so I reckon they'll really have their work cut out to not at least drop off a tad. Especially if they get a few injuries.

The rest of the team is young and it is very unlikely that we have two years in a row where we are as decimated as we were this year. We will improve or stay the same, we have reached our bottom.

You're welcome to your view of the Dees, as misguided as it is, but you'd garner more respect if you annunciated what part of our list underwhelmed you.

Your inability to articulate any semblance of a position other than a vague observation serves you poorly.

It's my Annunciation that the Dees will finally beat the Roos in 2017. If forced to enunciate the reasons for my Annunciation, it would be the growing maturity of the Dees, with a corresponding decline in the age and experience of our guys, a number of whom haven't experienced being part of the 15 game winning streak over your team. Plus you don't have Lynden Dunn anymore; you're immediately less laughable.

Essendon supporters save yourself the time and don't abuse and tell me how they're going to shock the comp and storm into the 8 ahead of St. Kilda or Melbourne, or how they'll at least finish in the top 10. It's not going to happen Best case scenario they win 10 games and finish around 13th, worst case they win 5 games and finish 17th.
