I think you will find that IF he decides to leave those conversations will take place after finals. But I'm still positive he is staying so we will see

That's exactly what will happen. He will stay for a couple more years then come homeFrom what was said in the interview last night, I think the decision has not been made but Josh has given the go-ahead for his manager to take offers... which will be considered after the Finals.
I also got the view that if he stays at GWS it will be for a max two years only.

By which time Collingwood will be getting off the bottom of the ladder and he will be joining his mates WHE and Treloar...
They haven't been able to improve it in nearly 20 years, how do you think they'll do it in the next 2?Hahaha that would be ideal wouldn't it? Can't see it happening though. When he does eventually come home I think it will end up being to North. Hopefully they can improve their club in 2 years to make it a bit more desirable
By sacking a certain coach. They haven't been able to improve it in nearly 20 years, how do you think they'll do it in the next 2?

hoI feel for you Harry. I would be feeling exactly the same way. It sounds like the groundwork is being laid for his imminent departure though ....
ApologiesTake it to your own boards to discuss, or better yet the Draft and Trade board please, we aren't overly interested in your discourse.
The earlier comments on possible salary dump was just speculative chatter popping out of various scenario discussions ... nothing serious in it. I think you'll find that Griffen will remain selected in the best 22 when he's fit next year - bit like Stevie J this year, having to manage through age-related injuries, unless he really drops off physically. Griffen still has a year to run on his contract, but that might (probably should) be it for his career. No offence to Griff, but he had declined from his best years before he arrived here, although still valuable given his experience & mature body while some of our youngsters developed further. Depending on what happens with retaining Hopper & Kennedy of course, there's a bank of young guys bursting out of their skins to take his spot though (Taranto, Setterfield plus Hopper & Kennedy). I expect Griffen will play some but unlikely to be all games (due injury) next year, then retire.Curious on how you guys sit with Ryan Griffen. Saw a couple posters talk about how they wanted his salary off the books. Do you guys still consider him best 22? because he would be on a bit right? I remember him being keen to leave to get out of the Vic fishbowl which probably makes a move back to Vic not high on the list of things he would wanna do. I don't think he'll leave, im just curious on where he is at currently. Cheers
Yeah i thought that might be the situation, i figured if he didn't leave at the end of this year he would probably retire at the club. Wouldn't mind having those 4 fighting for a spot in our midfield ahaha Cheers for the infoThe earlier comments on possible salary dump was just speculative chatter popping out of various scenario discussions ... nothing serious in it. I reckon we should see if we could get Paul Puopolo. He strikes me as exactly the kind of player we need. Good strong little man who provides pressure and finishes well.
The only way I can see a deal is if the Hawks have something we think is worth losing Whitfield for, and Whitfield wants to go. His public statements suggest he doesn't.That would be a NO from me
I don't think he would consider moving also and many of the Hawks players are made to look good by the system they played in and the great players around them
I think he was suggested last year to help got the Jaeger deal done and wasn't interested in a move

So who do you drop to make room for him?
