shouldnt Carlton worry about trying to re-sign weitering, c.curnow, McKay, etc. all will get offers from other clubs if Carlton don't come to the table. Not to mention you have more first rounders in your team than us so the salary cap squeeze should be hurting Carlton soon as well
Weitering has re-signed and i believe the remaining 2015 draftees across the comp remaim unsigned because the new CBA hasnt be signed yet and that will obviously affect salary sizes

But but surely any players unsigned are leaving.

What we get told anyway.

Yeah but contracted players can still leave. I'm sure he can earn more elsewhere and play in a contender

Still being mentioned as working on rehab & no timeline set. I'd suggest we won't see him until around the bye period - at best.

Richmond would not pay the same (or near) price for him back, so I wouldn't think sending him back would be anywhere on the agenda. Either GWS fix his calf problems, in which case we would want to keep him to extract value from the deal, or we don't fix the calf issues, in which case no-one would want him.

Our Melbourne interstate memberships are cheap and hopefully he'll put in an appearance at some point. We wont take it personally if you stay loyal to the Tigers as well.

Listening to that fat campaigner Eddie Maguire last night on Fox he really seemed to have a ring of confidence that Kelly would get to North and these deals "get done at the end of the year" to which his imbecilic campaigner mate McClure had a knowing chuckle.

It's pretty common knowledge down here that the VFL coalition have a modus operandi to dismantle the Giants and that there is some collusion in their strategy. It's part of their discussions in their unofficial get togethers.

They are pretty confident they can achieve this via grandfather deals and impending free agency impact.

Unless the AFL puts a limit on contract lengths we will be quite vulnerable to this.

Seems like someone likes a conspiracy theory.;) Though TBF, even you have to admit that GWS were handed a pretty good hand at the start, even more so, than the GCS were. Do you really find it unsurprising that Eddie has a problem with it? Eddie has been campaigning for a reduction in handouts, for lack of a better word here, against the Sydney and QLD teams for years now. He railed against the Lions during their three peat years.

The Giants will fail if AFL house let it happen. Gill and his circle are totally committed. I would be surprised if Eddie and his circle are that stupid to want to have us gone. Money talks and bullshit walks. The VFL clubs know that our 'moderate' success and growth means more dollars coming into the AFL overall. They want us to be big, but not dominant. They'd be very satisfied if we ended up in the same situation as Freo. For the VFL, it's a containment strategy.

Well, Eddie should know about wheeling & dealing! As we've seen, it often is less about the main deal than the 'added benefits', although TBH with Josh's deal I think it's quite straightforward, and for him it's a choice of $/security versus mates/flags. I wouldn't blame him for choosing the former, but hope he chooses the latter. Which I think is still possible. A 2-year re-signing with GWS on higher but not exorbitant pay would still allow him options in 2 years time to cash in - the risk obviously being if injury intervened.

It's not a conspiracy theory at all. He led the campaigns to eradicate COLA and to change the Academy bidding and boundaries.

He only wanted GWS and the Gold Coast brought in to boost TV Rights and has now had the taxation rules relaxed to suit Collingwood.

It is very common knowledge that the big Victorian clubs Collingwood/Richmond/Essendon/Carlton frequently meet to discuss strategy and when they sneeze the other VFL clubs catch a cold.

If you don't think they drive policy then you are even more ignorant than I think.

There isn't any ignorance on my part mate. I know exactly what Eddie is up to. He has been doing it for years as I said. If he can find an angle that he thinks can benefit the ferals at Collingwood he will push and push and push and talk louder and louder. I just generally ignore him. I'm not certain he does anything that other club presidents aren't doing in looking for benefits to their teams. Eddie just has a bigger media profile with which to push his self centred agenda's.

Eddie only wants what's best for Eddie & Collingwood. If he can enlist others to do his bidding, then it obviously helps him. But don't think that he won't turn on those who help him in an instance once he gets what he wants from that collaboration. And yeah, it's not a conspiracy when he shouts it from the rooftops in his media gigs. The only good thing about Eddie & Collingwood is that they have been so committed to Nathan Buckley over the last 5 years, and he's been such a disaster for them, that it's held Collingwood in check.

Hey guys just wondered what the word around Kennedy was? If Kelly re signs and Hopper, do you think he will end up out the door with Smith? Sorry for just assuming a few things here, just wondering where you guys see the whole situation.
