Does he have extra growing in him or is he a man child?

He doesn't need to get much bigger he needs to strengthen and harden his body.

In fact I think they will look to strip a 4-5kg off him and increase his running game, most the year he wasn't able to complete training sessions due to the knee and then after surgery that 7:30 2km time was his 1st distance run since surgery.

With an AFL preseason he will break into the 6 minutes bracket which is AFL relevant.

You :hearts: him like Louis CK loves a wank! :p

Haha nah I just don't think some of the criticism of him is valid and like to give a detailed reason why.

I'd be happy with a few players at our pick he is just leading the race in my mind. But I think Hine has others in his.:p

Fogarty/Coffield/Murphy/Richards for mine.... in no particular order.

I don't want to hear Naughton's name called.

Even in the highlights he doesn't get all his footy through "monstering" his opponents, think people see him being big and on the odd occasion using his strength to break a tackle or stiff arm a player and get those thoughts that's the only way he can get the ball.

But look at all the times you see him finding space and receiving or the times he marks on the lead or the times he gets back last on the line in defence (across a few different videos). Also just because he looks more developed doesn't necessitate that he is ridiculously stronger then his peers who would also have weight programs themselves.

The kid has genuine talent, start of the season prior to injury he was universal number 1 prospect. Yes that tag fell away and he will slide now due in part to recruiters being wary of was it the injury? or was it a lack of development to his poorer year? and also in part to what you fear is he a manchild and looking good because of it?

He also played in SANFL against men and still displayed those attributes, just like a lot of other big kids who got drafted early his strength will also increase with age.

I do understand the concerns but imo I'd take the risk.

You could sell sand to an Arab with a phobia of sand.

Why the pluck a duck do they need permission to train from the AFL.
If the club wants to let someone train then surely that is a decision for the club, why do we need to get permission.

Re: the welcome threads, why don't you let TD do the the first 2 picks and pre-organise for someone else to do the others. That way the other person could have adequate info good to go and we all get decent welcome threads. I don't know about others, but I would rather be a little slower with the threads and have them correct than have another "Welcome Josh Deluca" debacle.

Sharing!? Who would ever think of such an atrocity.

Fogarty, Cerra, Coffeild, Bonar. My top 4.

Murphy is my pick for the Hine smokey.

Richards I can't get on board with at 6.

I'm not a Naughton fan either due to that kicking style, but if he is picked he is picked. Does have a bit of Jake Lever to his game (minus the kicking) and we know the club was keen on Lever and are on Naughton from what we read.

With all due respect to the club, we don't need a "Lever".
We have Howe, Langdon & Sharenberg who all fit that mould.

We need a KPB like Naughton but i'd prefer us to spend #38 on that.

I'm keen to take best available at #6 as long as there's a huge gap between them and the next best available.
For example if Brayshaw and Cerra are only 5% better than Fogarty/Coffield, then i'd go the latter for the fact they fit a need more than the former two do.

What we do at 6 also depends heavily on who we expect to be around at our 38/56 picks. Will Petty/Wooler/Paton/McPherson still be around to fill needs at those picks or do we need to fill the need first and then go best available.

Either way, I do NOT envy Hine and Co. Obviously they'll have better intel than us and I hope they use it wisely.

Yeah I'm with you on that.

Best available at 6 and pick needs based at 38 hopefully a Claverino or Taylor (WA) slides to us.

Heard some knockers on Clavarino... Especially his disposal. Is Taylor the overager who's been playing in the WAFL as a Key defender?

Really he used it well in the champs games.

Oscar Clavarino

Sam Taylor

Personally like them both better then Naughton both better kicks then Naughton.

Yep, i'd be happy with either of those 2 at 38/56.

My favourite was when TD started a welcome thread for a Twitter user during the Women's draft last year :P

Hearing we are into BALTA Take him Freak Gun Croatian
Please oh wise and mighty football gods, allow Balta to fall to our pick 38.

Happy to provide Blair and Mayne as a sacrifice.

Pick 6: Fog > Cerra > Naughton

Pick 38: Balta

Pick 56: Brown

Pick 61: Barry > Keitel > Borthwick

I really should be asleep, I'm getting up at 2.15 for a road trip to Sydney but too excited. For a draft nerd like me, Friday night is Christmas after nine months of hours on end at games and writing. Can't wait.

Lucky You Mate going to the Draft.

Same Here as I am also super Excited for Tommorow Night. More Nervous then Games we played in the last few years

Delisted AFL players training in the hope of a rookie draft lifeline

GETTING the cut from an AFL list might not be the end for a handful of hopefuls who are training with their former or new clubs.

Former first-round draft pick Blaine Boekhorst, mature-age Geelong defender Tom Ruggles and Magpies Adam Oxley and Jackson Ramsay are among the players to hit the track for pre-season time-trials in the hope of a lifeline in the pre-season or rookie draft.

No Shock going by Training Reports.

Can anyone honestly see North Melbourne passing over Cerra or Brayshaw at 4?.

I highly doubt it. They are better prospects then Fogarty is

I feel like Fogarty plays like Alex Rance in defence. He can read the ball well, and attacks the ball with purpose. So Fogarty and Mclarty could be our pillars in defence.

Posters seem to dislike Fogarty's flexibility to basically play anywhere, but I love it ,I think it gives him more avenues to grow and get a better understanding of the game.

IF we do draft for Defense I would pick Naughton over Fogarty
