He was playing well in SANFL against man prior to injury from all reports.

He has enough pace to break away but he's not a speedster per se.

I strained my meniscus at the start of the year (suspected small tear ) and it took weeks just to be able to freely bend my knee with out using my arms to grab it and help bring it in (like when getting in and out of the car or bed).

The fact he played through one actually shows great will power even if in the last game vs metro he looked to have dropped his head after getting repeated treatment off the ball or any time he went near it.

Going off his highlights in champs is unfair as he would of lost a lot of power and drive playing with a meniscus tear. Hopefully our recruiters keep this in mind. Even still he displayed a turn of pace at times in the allies game see below.

Against VC showed other attributes like being quarter back in defence taking kick outs and kicking 55m already.

HE is capable in all 3 roles of fwd, mid and back. A lot of strings to his bow.

Wherever he ends up, will be a player.

Impressive highlight reel.

Ah, didn't know that, I only heard it this morning.

So I was told there are 5 top mids and it is likely one will drop out and we will pounce, the likely one is Stephenson (sp?)
I don't know enough about them, but the person who passed the rumour on to me said we would take any of the top 5 that have been mentioned if any one of them dropped out. Apparently all 5 are exceptionally talented
Check Stephenson's highlights... speed, left / right kick, takes game on and X factor, fwd /mid. Upside!
Luv him in black n white.

For me Fogarty or Coffield, good gets either one at six, just wish we had a couple more later picks.

I'd like somehow to conjur up an extra pick early doors to get both
Coffield and Balta.

Dave gets sniped at by enough keyboard warriors because of his passion for trade week I can understand him getting a bit testy.

Mate that glass house of yours must be hot tonight!

You missed the point, I never mentioned your comment - just made a comment that Dave had a right to be a little testy after the treatment some have been giving him.
I knew what you were getting at. I know Dave cops his fair wack, but there was no need for his comment regardless.

Theres 3 articles saying Freo are into him? Maybe Freo are targeting ruck/fwd Sam Hayes?
Or are they playing smoke and shadows behind the windows! Someone call Clokie!
Would help whoever we are sniffing slip to pick 6!!

I could be wrong but I thought that I heard on Cal Twomey's road to the draft podcast that he tested poorly in the running/endurance tests at the combine. To an extent that recruiters thought it was well below AFL standard. I think he'll slide; seems a big stretch at 5. Especially with how well Darcy went when he took Sandilands spot last year.

PS: Happy to be corrected if I am getting my draftees mixed up.

Not phased by the prospect of taking best available at 6 but would like to get into the 2nd round to ensure we can access a KPP prospect then. Might still be someone available at 38. Time will tell.

Fas is really the only currency we have to try and get into the 2nd round

I hope we don't take Brander though we better brace for it as it's the obvious choice based on list need and the club might go that way.
Interesting take on him here pre injury

Jarrod Brander
Bendigo Pioneers/GWS Academy/NSW-ACT
Key Forward
Height: 193 cm Weight: 93 kg D.O.B: 11/2/99

Probably the most likely candidate for the number one pick for 2017, Brander is one who has star written all over him. Brander is a tall forward who has a lot of raw talent and has shown despite his slight frame that he can dominate games. After a stunning u16 campaign, this year Brander has been cruelled by injury for the most part of the year. But when Brander got onto the park it's not hard to see why he’s so highly rated. This was on show in the u17 All Stars game on Grand Final morning where he impressed as a centre half forward for his team. Brander next year could be playing for the Geelong Falcons alongside Patrick Dow who from all accounts has moved from Bendigo to Geelong. Brander is mobile, strong in the air and has is a player who draws the football towards him up forward.

Pick 2 to freo. Does that change who will be available at pick 6 for us?

I came to this thread with the same question. For me it depends on how our draft board looks, but I don’t think anything changed at the top and Freo will go a mid at 2 and 5 is now more likely to go toward Hayes/ Naughton/ Fogarty now. I just can’t see them taking two smalls!

Yep agree. Best mid at 2 and best KP at 5. Hopefully Naughton or Hayes for them at 5 which will see The Fog available to us at 6.

Man Freo are going to win draft and trade period. Gives them a pick to replace Weller In Dow/Rayner/LDU/Cerra. Then they can come in and pick up someone like Fogarty or Coffield.

Who cares what was said 12 months ago based on u16 performances? He was poo this year and had no injury excuse like Fogarty did.
