I understand what you're saying but I disagree on principle. Geelong's home ground is Kardinia. That's where their home finals should be played.

Nope because you qualify for a home state final not a home ground final. Hence why finals in Sydney have been played at ANZ stadium before for both Sydney and GWS in the past. As there is only one AFL ground in WA and SA it appears we have home ground finals when they are home state finals. The Dogs didn't get a home ground final against us at Etihad. It was moved to the MCG because there needed to be space for a larger crowd so the MCG it was, much to the annoyance of the Dogs.

You watch Port supporters start talking up premierships because they've flat tracked a NEAFL side, but then after they get embarrassed in the finals they'll want Hinkley sacked again :D
Are they capable of putting it together in September?

The Bulldogs have given every mug a bit of hope. Like when Michael Beer played a test match.

We go in underdogs against either of Geelong or Sydney. The rest and we are marginal favourites.
Yeah, nah.

We will not be playing Sydney at the SCG and we wont be playing Geelong at Pussie Park. We will not be underdogs against either team if we meet at the MCG and we will be firm favourites if we play them in Adelaide.

As teams find every year, you can go from hero to zero very quickly. Last year Geelong won their last seven games to finish top two, won the qualifying final and then were smacked in the Prelim.

We will finish top with by far the best percentage despite one of the hardest fixures. We are premiership favourites for a reason. No final against a top four team is easy but we will never have a better chance to make (and win) the grand final.

I know, but I disagree with that entire principle.

The only team capable of winning the flag outside of Adelaide, GWS and Geelong is Sydney.

im surprised they haven't been over here yet

The Bullies actually beat plenty of good sides in last year's minor round, which is a significant point of difference.

If they want to play a final at a home ground they should pick a home ground with better seating capacity.

Besides, they play home games at the MCG all the time.

They don't get to cherry pick which home ground they want at the MCG for the attendance fees and which they want in Geelong for strategic advantage.
So much this. I have no qualms about playing Geelong at Kardinia Park so long as every other club in the competition have to as well.

I'm not saying otherwise. I'm actually arguing against that tradition.

It makes no sense, in terms of how a sporting competition should work.

Your home ground should be your home ground. Period. All of your earned finals should be played there. I even argue that the Grand Final should be played at the ground of the highest finisher, or rotated annually.
We have a fixture that is not fair, and makes no sense in terms of how a sporting competition should work.

They're as special as Port flogs. I know I've been at their shitty little stadium and sat amongst them. They have more teeth than Port flogs but they're still special in the head.
I've sat amongst Crows' fans and experienced the mass delusion of 50,000 people thinking they're collectively the "19th man". I don't think we're the only supporter group that's special in the head. :D

I remember sitting in your main stand two years ago and I clapped a goal by Sloane and the girl next to me started barracking for Dangerfield.......while he was still playing for us........that's as special as you can get.

They should scrap "home state final". It's bullshit. You should earn the right to a home ground final. You should be able to play it wherever you want

Geelong should absolutely get their home finals at their home ground. But the AFL isn't a fair organisation.

Because it's their home ground. Fairness suggests that's where it should be played. Preliminary Finals included. I understand the crowd etc but that shouldn't be a consideration.

Except Geelong play some of their home games at the MCG against the bigger Vic clubs because of the crowds.

What do you know, finals draw bigger crowds so off to the G they go.

You (and they) would have a stronger point if in fact they did play all their home games at Kardinia Park.

What exactly is delusional about our fan base?

Yep and that's what I'm suggesting. I'm not saying itll happen :)
