2mins on the clock remaining down by 4 pts in the prelim 2014 Hawks v Port. Instead of kicking the ball deep into Power I50, Polec goes sideways. :drunk:

What could have been? Some happy memories to reflect on before our prelim next week.

Polec should never be allowed anywhere near a final! (On second thoughts... :D)

Anyone else worried about the finals going against us this week?

Geelong beat the Swans - I really think Geelong can cause us more issues than Sydney. I just have a feeling that Sydney are going to run out of puff ... whereas the Cats have another gear to find. Would rather see Paddy and his mates disappear tonight.

Eagles beat GWS - We seem to have GWS's measure, and the same goes for the Tigers ... but the Eagles appear to have us covered. I know we were down on personnel in the last H&A game, but they always seem to find something against the Crows. Would much rather take on GWS or the Tiges if we get that far.

How does Either of these results work against us?

For starters, we would prefer the Cats over the Swans.

To win a flag, you need to beat the best.

Way too much pointless worrying over who the next opponent is.

why was Kochie clapping? Should have been devastated.

Piss off Rowie. Golden point is the dumbest thing in the world. Imagine a tied game after all the tension being settled by a punched through behind. Or some mid wins the tap and puts a barrel through for a point after 3 seconds.

You need extra time. 5 minutes each way is perfect.

And then it should go to 50 m shootout with the oppo allowed to man the line. Only goals count

I am going to throw up another scenario.

Port really dont need to re-sign Ken. He is contracted for next year. If they were clever they would wait until next year to start talks. Maybe the leaks etc are coming from Hinkleys side of the equation. Putting pressure on Port to extend.

Brad Ebert's brain fart (where he played on) is still funny now.

Makes sense.

The most baffling thing is the unanimous media support for a coach with a mediocre record.

I reckon Kern would be looking at all avenues to get out of Port and off to the Gold Coast.

Saturday night wasnt the first time he's been a bit sooky la la due to the pressure cooker expectations in a two team footy mad town. It was awkward to watch him getting all huffy at the insinuation Dixon was overpaid and having a go at the bullshit pressure heaped on from 'this place' (presumably Adelaide?)...

... he'd be much better suited to the laid back anonymous lifestyle of the GC (where he's already spent a bit of time and by all accounts loved by all from there - hence getting his back up whenever his boy Dixon's game is questioned) and where he can coast along in peace, basking in the back slapping glory from the odd win which will be the only time the local media give two shits.

Yep he was happy to take the credit for a boost at Port when he first started, now it's got tougher he seems to be struggling to handle the pressure

GC has such low expectations he'd fit right in

I value my opinion that we are on the right track.

Ha...silent J at it again.

Bahahaha - wasn't clapping the other night.
I actually put a bit of their 2015 failures on the "pleasing" reactions from that loss.

So the statement says "Port Adelaide will resume contract discussions on completion of the review".

Basically saying they are going into the review, knowing that no matter the outcome of the review, we think Ken Hinkley has earnt another contract and is the coach for us through to at least the end of 2020 (Can't imagine less than a 2 year extension), so it is possible that at the end of his 8th year, they only make the finals 3 times.

They are in a similar place we were a few years ago, one kick away vs Hawks in a prelim, then no good for 2 years, then a week 1 finals appearance in year 3.

The difference being we had called it after 2 years and had made the changes required to really moved as a club while Port have settled into their new comfortable but a bit relevant position.

As long as China goes ahead, Kochie get's to run his seminars at the club and they play in their 2 grand finals a year I guess.

Works for me.

If the AFL wants Hinkley at Gold Coast, he'll be coaching Gold Coast next year.
Part of the plan to make it look like Kern was in demand....

A nice stern press release to make their numpties think they are a Powerhouse club of the AFL.

Geelong are more cooked than you think, and we would maul the Eagles at the G.

With the way the soft draw is manufactured the Power were all but guaranteed a top 8 given their lack of injuries place and still managed a way to f**k that up with their home final loss.

Hinkley is dead man walking if he doesnt get a contract extension he should flee to the Suns if they throw a 5 year offer at him. If they get a tough first 6-8 games Hinkley is screwed. Mind you Bucks managed to take the Magpies backwards each year and still managed to get another two years from this year onwards.

Problem with the Power is they spent the entire summer and first part of this season basking about their Chinese Take Away game as a feel good story.
