All mids?

Absolutely....... thats where we need immediate help and the sooner we draft to address the problem the better for my liking.

Hasn't changed for me this is the group I would pick from :

Brayshaw.
Constable.
Higgins.
Coffield.
Clark.
O'Brien.
Brayshaw looked good from what I saw (was only half watching). Didn't see Coffield and Clark do enough to judge them. O'Brien is one of the ones with injury issues right? He actually didn't look too bad, seemed quick and had a good kick on him.

I have seen him live in half a dozen games and I do rate him but not before the fourth round to rookie.
Yes he had a better game today but my opinions are rarely swayed by one game I prefer to look more at the body of work
Yeh today was my first time looking at most of these guys, I don't keep a close watch on many of the U18's throughout the year. I figure I don't need to anyway, can always just ask you :D

It's just such a WC thing to do. Drafting guys with injuries, picking up other club rejects just because they were top 10 picks 5 years ago. Trying for the Hail Mary "we outsmarted everyone" pick when in actual fact there's reasons why players slide.

Obviously it's going to work sometimes (hopefully with Venables) but in a draft where 5-20 are pretty even, the chance of picking a gun player is pretty much the same as taking the risk on the injured player anyway, take Fyfe for example. 20 something pick.

I'd rather be having a shot at a guy with a clean bill of health with the same "potential". Leave the risky picks for the rookie list.

Yeah but other than Venables when have we done this with a reasonably early pick? Swift in 2008?

IT was a well coached game as both coaches rotated the players through the midfield so some of the lesser lights got an opportunity to shine : Example Brent Daniels. The better mids got about a quarter and a half to show their wares.

He looked very good but only got the first and a bit of the last quarter in the midfield as he played a fair bit on the HFF.

I would have liked Coffield to have been given more midfield opportunities but that wasn't to be. Clark was moved around a lot , first quarter on a wing , second quarter in the middle where he is best suited then the last half of a HBF.

O'Brien is one of the ones with injury issues right? He actually didn't look too bad, seemed quick and had a good kick on him.

His injury woes are over stated , don't forget that he had a huge year travel wise as he is from Mildura , schooled in Geelong and played with Bendigo so he certainly covered some k's during the course of the season.
He is a very polished player and may take a year or two to develop physically but when he does he will be an A grader,

Darcy Fogarty ? If we have pick 7 . Or are you leaving his name out because he will go earlier?

I think he will be off the board by the time we get our first pick ( as it stands now ).

Godfather32 my understanding of the Bonar situation is that it was two lots of surgery but the second was to do a patch up job on the first operation that had not been 100 % successful. Which isn't as bad as having blown the knee twice.

I also have heard that he is being given serious consideration by two Clubs that may take him much higher than the general consensus range of a mid second round pick.

His last six weeks production and todays performances will certainly have caught the attention of the Clubs.

I'd be interested in which clubs are rating Bonar higher than the consensus. Gee I hope it's St Kilda at 7/8.

I really rate him & believe he'll be best in the draft. He does it all. Inside-outside beast & has clean hands in tight like Bontempelli. Defensively very good as well & loves to crunch opposition.

Despite his ACL's he hasn't lost any power or agility. At Haileybury he's rated a better talent than LDU but obviously the knee has scared a few clubs off. As a 16 yo he was rated the best player for his age division. Massive upside & is ready to play round 1 next year.

Not sure Stephenson gets to 7.

Fremantle have said that they are looking to bolster their HF/mid stocks. He won't get past them, if north happen to pass up on him at 4.

Bonner does shape as an interesting pick. Could still be available at our first and given his potential would be tough to turn down.

Who does Bonner play like

Nathan Broad played a good game today. Covered a lot of kms and completely shut Tom Lynch out of the game.

Another Swan Districts boy that we passed on.

Riley Bonner is another quick, classy looking player from the 2015 draft that would have been a good get. Not to worry though.
