2018 Best 22

Real shame on Dixon injury. Was someone I was keen to watch as a genuine forward.

Never really sold on the idea of ‘making’ players play into a position. Logue as a forward? Yeah not sold on that at all, but would possibly be his best shot. Unless he can somehow become that big bodied midfielder type.

Crowden, Langdon, Mundy, Banfield

8 games into the season and time to update the new best 22.
This is mine"
Logue Hamling Ryan
Wilson Pearce S Hill
B Hill Fyfe Langdon
Walters McCarthy Bennel
Matera Tabs Cerra
Ruck: Sandi Neale Blakely

Interchange: Brayshaw, Crowden, Mundy, Banfield.
Emergency: Tucker, Ballas, Cox.

Notes: Am throwing Blakely back into the middle - I reckon that's his best spot.
Cerra for a permanent forward for the rest of the year.
Am a bit worried about the overall forward pressure of this team but reckon Bennell and Walters at full flight should play forward.
Logue slots into the back line.
Johnson and Ballas to be phased out.

## Worth noting that we currently have 6 players on this best 22 out of the team - that combined with having a pretty young team, and it's not a bad effort so far this season.

Hey,

nothing negative here.

Just wanna know why Switkowski isn't playing? Haven't seen him in the Peel stats lately.

My variation tweaking gungho's list.

Bennel for sure, but....

Logue in releases Blakely into the crash and bash of the midfield.

Crowden to do some work as the pressure forward for a bit.

Logue Hamling Ryan
Wilson Pearce S Hill
B Hill Fyfe Langdon
Walters McCarthy Mundy
Matera Taberner Crowden
Ruck: Sandilands Neale Blakely

Interchange: Brayshaw, Tucker, Cerra, Banfield.

Backline I rate as B with potential to hit A grade as of next year. That is the best group of defenders we have ever put together and it has teeth. Love the run, and the distribution power.

Midfield I rate B+ with a bullet based on the likely improvement from Brayshaw and Cerra in particular, plus the stardom of Fyfe and Neale fed by Sandilands. They are on track to being a dominant midfield.

Forwards I rate C+ based on performance, but the actual combination looks quite good to me once they get on the park together, get the service I expect from the midfield/defence, and get their chemistry together. But for now, they are nothing much, with Walters the only player with x-factor. They need to become B at a minimum, which can be achieved by the simple inclusions of Bennel and Taberner.

RUN BOYS!! RUN!!!!

This is what I reckon our best 22 will be by the start of next year.
Not too confident either Bennel, Ballas or Tucker will make it and at some point there has to be a baton change from Sandi to Darcy. It's actually a pretty tall forward line and Matera has only just made the team ahead of Crowden.
Aside from Fyfe Neale the hills and Walters, it's a bit of a no name team (at this stage) but I reckon this is the nucleus of a finals side next year. Darcy is going to be a very good ruck man.

Logue Hamling Ryan
Wilson A Pearce Cerra
S Hill Fyfe B Hill
Dixon Taberner Walters.
Matera Cox Apeness

Ruck: Darcy Neale Blakely.

Interchange: Brayshaw Mundy Giro Banfield

Looks pretty good.

I think you would always have one of the 4 key position forwards on the interchange bench with Giro or Banfield on the ground instead otherwise we would have very little forward line pressure.

Pretty accurate, not sure if we would draft someone who would automatically play Round 1 next year, if we have a good run and stay healthy during the pre-season this is basically the team we field with a few magnet shifts. IMO I'd swap Cox / Dixon & Logue / Wilson, have Cox on the bench - Banfield in his place then swap Cerra / Mundy. I don't think we'd ever be that tall on the ground at one time.

Leaves us with pretty good depth.

Geez must be a good side if Langdon can't even make the bench ;)

???? - Hamling - Ryan
Wilson - AP - Cerra
B Hill - Neale - Langdon
Walters - Cox - Bennell
Matera - Tabs - Apeness

Sandi - Fyfe - Blakely

Mundy - S Hill - Brayshaw - Tucker

Not sure on the 3rd tall spot - Kersten - Duman - Logue - Hughes?

Only Sandi and Mundy over the age of 27. Both have replacements developing (Darcy/Cerra).

Here it is; The Forward Slash Dockers / 2019
  • Taberner/Apeness; These boys are in a tussle. We just haven't seen it yet because they can't manage to both be fit at the same time.
  • Darcy/Sandilands; The Master gets to hang on by the skin of his teeth after knocking back a BIG 1 year deal from the Cats. The Apprentice knocks back a HUGE 5 year deal from them and has the honour of sharing duties with his Mentor, and they are in for a MASSIVE year. If Darcy is playing, Apeness is IN. If Sandi is IN, so is Tabs.
  • Hill/Hately; Well well, lookeee here, we got ourselves some exceptional midfield/forward talent at the sharp end of the super-draft, and whichever way we go, they are an IN.
  • ...../Dixon; A few players are going to be vulnerable to an emerging Dixon, but can't put him in the best 22 just yet.

I’d love to see our next midfield brigade take the next step in 2019 (Cerra already showing his potential) and push Fyfe forward more often whilst still getting midfield minutes. Some line ups looking something like this:

B: Ryan Hamling Logue
HB: ?? A.Pearce Wilson
C: BHill Neale Langdon
HF: Walters Fyfe Cox
F: Matera Taberner Giro

R: Darcy SHill Cerra

Int: Tucker Blakely Brayshaw Banfield

Emerg: Apeness McCarthy Kersten 2018 first round pick.

SHill needs to go back to an inside mid. He has played his best footy there, for some reason he has never really adapted to Half Back which is weird. Same goes for Blakely, more of an extractor than a distributor, burns it too much by foot coming out of the back line.

Cox, Fyfe and Taberner just roaming up and down the field as co tested marking targets. Their fitness and stamina would work over direct opponents, kinda like haveing 3 x N.Riewoldts. If Apeness can come along and provide a target forward than maybe that could push Fyfe back into the middle.

Half back a tough one. Cerra obviously a top pick but hopefullly he is getting more midfield time. Can Kersten be that position, might make us too tall. Otherwise back line is fairly solid and set, been pretty consistent this year. Been under the pump plenty of times so getting lots of practice in.

Darcy in the ruck with pinch hitters Tabs and Cox there as well when required.

ooops, yeah well Tucker to the bench and I'd bring in Hughes as an emergency
