I've floated it before but I'd hope the club explore next years Gold Coast 3rd round pick(37) + 64 + 68 which is enough points to get a high 20's/low 30's pick this year. Means we get 3 picks inside 40 this year and maintain our first 2 picks for next year with the likes of Jack Martin Jacob Hopper Josh Kelly Stephen Coniglio & Josh Dunkley coming out of contract.
Probably why we were talking to the Swans on deadline day.

Pick 17: Richmond has lost depth in its midfield stocks but could bring in a prospect who appears ready to go in Liam Stocker. The tough, dig-in, hands-on midfielder won the Morrish Medal at TAC Cup level this season and he's a good kick on both feet. He has the build and frame to be playing AFL next year.

Around the mark: Riley Collier-Dawkins, Chayce Jones, Luke Valente

Posters unhappy with losing depth players have understand that most of them would have been delisted anyway to make way for draft picks.

Getting the 4th round picks could mean a player that club rates highly is available at pick 64/68 instead of being gone by picks 74 and 92.

Pick 64 will end up being around the mid 50s after all the academy and f/s bids. Could get another Jack Graham with that pick.

Yep, won a flag and made a PF. Club knows what its doing

Happy with all of those. Think the bigger bodies over Jones first but he’s a very handy player too by the looks of it.

Hately, Caldwell, Collier-Dawkins, Stocker, Valente, Jones in that order for me. The first 2, possibly 3 most likely gone by our pick. Valente might be the bolter for the SA clubs to pick up so another may slide to us.

Don’t mind the idea being floated getting 2 picks in the 20s for our first. But I think it’ll be extremely difficult to pull off because pick 17 is too low. If we were talking pick 12 or around that mark then clubs would bite.
Last year we traded 15 and pick 53 for Brisbane's 20 and 25.

Gold Coast would be the only club that we do that trade with. pick 17 and 64 for 24 and 29

Interesting that he says Jackson Hately is "around the mark" for the lions at pick 18?

Would have thought he'd go much earlier than that and if not we'd be screaming out his name if available the pick before

Hately is overrated. Let's hope one pf the SA teams picks him early.

What makes you say that? Do you think the hype just comes from him being over 190cm?

Not so sure. He gets under your guard. Has some Sam Mitchell traits about him albeit a fair bit taller. Doesn't seem to be hurting you much then you look back on the game and see his chain involvements, disposals and you say "really?". Don't mind him, but with all interstate boys, buyer beware in two years / four years.

Depth players aren't meant to be a lock, or else they wouldn't be depth players. Our depth hasn't taken a hit, it has been shattered.

Just ask yourself that when prestia inevitably misses through injury, who Is a reasonable like for like replacement? God forbid 2 of our 4 midfielders are injured at the same time.
Our depth players didn't exactly set the world on fire when they got their chance.
Besides Short improved from 2017 that he became a regular in 18.
Who's to say Baker and or Markov might be the short of 19 therefore our depth hasn't take a hit as you say it has.;)

Butler is the classic example of that TOO. Was just about out the door, lifeline took him to another 5 levels I reckon. Day to day coaches and trainers know it better.

That would be scenario that we’d jump at. Make it happen Balmey
Would keep this years 1st and offer up next years too the Suns instead.
17,24,29,37.

Agree.We actually missed him Prelim.
Wouldn't have said that 18mnths earlier.

Will be very interesting to see what the SA clubs offer up to Gold Coast to get Picks 2, 3 or 6. They may end up with a bunch of picks before Pick 24 and not need these ones, so a future first rounder for them may be worth more to them.

Yep, he's little bit greedy and you need that in his role. Tackles hard and spreads. Amazing how many 'easy' goals he gets. Not as greedy as Caddy though:D

Not sure if i read it or heard it on TR but it was suggested that the Suns are looking too future drafts to balance out their list.Lets hope the goodwill between us might serv us well.

No. He played Nationals in his bottom-age year, and held his own at SANFL level, so he can obviously play. But the bolded from Phar Ace below is what I see:

Chain involvements. To me he's a linkman, not an inside hard ball winner. Watch how he gets the ball and then compare it to the way Ely Smith ferociously wrenches it from a pack and bursts away with it. That's what we need.

Hately is a linkman with smarts, but not speed, and his kicking is just average. At 37 maybe, not at 17 for mine.

Yep. Live trading is going to be fascinating.

With the knowledge that Towner has signed on, and assuming that Drummond and Chol will be delisted, here are our pick numbers:

Senior departures:
Hampson Griffiths Conca Lloyd C.Ellis Miles Drummond

Rookie departures:
Stengle Chol Moore

Senior additions:
Lynch Moore DRAFT x3-5

Rookie additions:
DRAFT x3-5

Number of picks in each draft depends on whether we want to stick to 40/4 senior/rookie split and whether we want to hold over a rookie spot for the mid season draft

Agree broadly, but he does have a bit of everything - as I said he gets under your guard, you analyse his touches and go 'really, he did that too". I'm not suggesting we want him at 17 either, especially if Smith or Stocker are there still, just that he's better than most people seem to think when they critique him I've found. He could easily still due to this. Sam Mitchell for example went at late 30's but was better than people thought, and in a really good draft year too.
