Only 2/17 teams have a ruckman that is clearly better than Nank too, we aren't gonna pluck out a state leaguer that's gonna give Gawn or Grundy a problem lol.Don't see a problem..
Most sides have one Ruckman and pray he's not going to get injured!
Chol is no tap ruckman but when the ball hits the deck is pretty good, like Nank. Another preseason will be interesting, has talent but not a natural footballer.Let's agree to agree.
I forgot about Chol. No idea how he goes rucking though.
We've got 4 rucks on the books. What we need is for one to step up a notch next year to be able to support Nank. But right now I have a definite problem with selecting another ruck - we'll have too many. However, we don't have to mature decent ruck to fill in. I'd guess that most teams are in this boat though. We have options, which is great. We'll see what they do in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if its mid heavy though.

I have only seen Chol play one game in the flesh and he played as a key forward. He had all the attributes except the most important one, which was knowing how to play football. He was a fast, agile, gangly kid with a huge leap. Unfortunately he had NFI about how to lead for the football, where to position himself on the ground, or what to do when he got it.
If he can make it as a ruckman I will be very happy. I bear him no ill will, I hope he makes it. But geez he had a long way to go.
Need to sound him for our team!Apparently just signed with the Tigers.

Could Stocker play next year if required? We need our pick 17 to be ready to go if called upon
Yep i get soldo is a log type ruckman and would probally get outclassed by a gawn and grundy but he sure wont get bullied and will win quite a few hitouts against em ,strong tackler too i reckon hes not to bad as a backup also we have ccj miller, balta and chol who would be more competitive than many may think .Our ruck stocks are not a problem imo and if we get stocker and ely smith our list balance will be f..kn good
Not me but that b..ch stole my knifeI'm with you brother

If we need a first year player to play serious AFL then we're not doing it right. That we've done it the last 2 years is amazing, and awesome. But I'd be happy to get someone and then 4 years later they emerge as genuine quality after a thorough development (CCJ??)
This year it sounds like we could, maybe should, get a genuine top quality mid for our first pick. Top 10 quality sliding to us. I'm very stoked about that. Our drafting has been really solid recently, so if we can get another top range mid for the third year in row we'd be building that future base incredibly well.
If so....I'm gameI'm with you brother

Think we are between a rock and a hard place with our 2nd ruck.Too late on Soldo now probably. And we'd have to know that there is someone that can beat him for AFL performance.
My take on watching him in the firsts was that firstly, his tank needs a lot of work, secondly he's nothing on Nank around the ground, but does a basic role, and thirdly, his physicality is good so he can play that bulldozer role.
I'd guess Soldo is a solid depth reserve ruck. But that's about it. I suspect that he'd grow into playing AFL and be about as good on the lower tier of AFL rucks. But we want at least a good AFL ruck, and possible a top tier one. Nank's not top tier, but he's damn good. All those guys are already signed up, and we've got a future one in CCJ.
Think about this over a 2-3 year timeline. If we get a mature state leaguer then they might do a better fill in role. But they could stifle the development of CCJ. We're caught between a rock and hard place in this situation right now. Nank and then a huge step down.
I think Grigg is an under rated clearance mid. Do not like him on the wing, but he gets his hands on the ball in the middle as much as anyone. Not sure age is going to weary him as he is a real gut runner. 190cm 85kg mid who uses it well by hand and runs both ways. Tad slow, but never stops. Was under utilised last year I thought.
SweetThere is another ruck in the sanfl won the flag with Nth Adelaide only 20 yrs old 202cm Jordan Sweet perfect late pick.
