Dad didn't stay as long as could have yielded more info, but spoke a lot to Thursfield.

We are aiming for midfielders. Might trade into some 20s picks.

Last year we had a few players we wanted before Higgins but they were gone, but also wanted him so it was still a good result.

They are excited about one academy kid next year (Ethan something maybe?) and Maurice Jnr the year after.

Chol delisted due to terrible work ethic, but they've told him what to do to get another gig and he sounds like he is on track.

They wanted Stengle but weren't prepared to match Adelaide at 3 years. They are happier to keep Baker due to his exceptional work ethic.

They said Tom Lynch is there everyday and he is an absolute monster in the upper body.

They genuinely want to keep Towner but are going to 38 & 6 for the list, hence rookie offer only.

Not much about who we want at our picks but Dad may just have missed it.

Brandon Ellis to become a midfield run with tagger.

Markov got HEAPS of interest but we wanted to keep him.

Apparently Thursfield wasn't shy about who he didn't rate as far as kids coming up. No one we'd be into obviously, but I won't name the name I heard so not to possibly ruin a kid's confidence were he to read this.

We are internally filthy at Collingwood for being dodgy, Quaynor should be at Richmond but will get to Collingwood due to his mother being from Ghana, academy rule.

Brayden Rioli to Essendon for sure.

That's pretty much it as far as I can remember Dad telling me. He said it was great and super interesting.

EDIT: mods delete this post if you think it's a bit too internally revealing :)
Ellis can run but not sure he has the mongrel to tag and tackle the best midfielders all day

Actually watching highlights and reading stats, Ely Smith is the one I like. How’s this quote from CD:

Smith was only selected in one game at the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships but left as the only player to win more disposals than Sam Walsh in a match. In that game he won 30 disposals, 18 contested possessions, nine clearances and laid five tackles.
You had me at hello, smiddy it is

Don't have to tackle to be an effective tagger, if you're right beside your opponent at stoppages and limiting their ability to get into space where they can do damage you can be quite effective. My biggest query with him in that role is that he panics when under pressure and just bangs the ball on his boot which often leads to turnovers.

Haha great I tipped this!!! We need a tagger to limit other teams gun mids and stop them getting high possies.

I think what you are inferring has merit in the sense even among the slightly lower run players the quality and opportunity to get a better one drops over time as we fall back in the draft(how many stars come at 100?)and there must be validity in some cases why some players jump up and others fall back sometimes especially as more info comes through.

I think the fact we have a 2019 1st round which some anticipating would be a late 1st rounder helps us tremendously in terms of flexibility for this draft.

We have 5 minutes to trade a pick per Twoomey in the brief with Sheehan mock draft on the AFL website. Is that 5 minutes to trade each pick at that point in time or 5 minutes todo all our trading for picks at that interval?

The thing is when we get to 17, assuming we still have pick 17 and the point we get to the equivalent pick in the order we have, whether we are at real 20, 21 etc who knows, we will have a better idea what we can do in terms of the players still available and those that are not in terms of who we are chasing. If who we want are not there except real bona fide later options then sure we can trade 17 for 24 and 29 or even later picks. But if some are roundabout we could even trade our 2019 first for Brisbane pick 18 and 30 with a bit going back there way in futures or whatever and go from there. If we have 17 and 18 then we can do other things as well. A lot can happen contingent on that scenario in terms of flexibility with pick trading and options in the draft. For example supposedly Jordan Clark, if true , diagnosed with glandular fever, will he drop and how far? What do WA clubs want to do? How far will he fall. We might end up with a pick 29 or pick 30 and not have the players we want available. West Coast or Freo might say hell we want Jordan Clark at 29 if he is still there. West Coast might say we will not use 24 but we will trade it for 29 plus extra and use 29 for Clark that has slipped or Hill or another WA player and anyone else they might want or even to create another trade for draft picks even involving futures. We could trade that for a later pick again or trade back into the 2019 futures if it suited. The other thing is in the wash up, theoretically we could use a pick in the 60's( have 5 minutes) as an anchor to get a trade back into 2019 futures in terms of swaps(assume we trade our 2019 1st and later we want to trade back up higher in the 2019 draft with other clubs like West Coast or whoever that might want certain picks or even a 2019 second rounder). At one of our later picks even a pick 70 we might tee up with other clubs and try and get(using 70 as steak knives) trading later 2019 futures a second and a third(who knows) and try and get back into the 2019 first round at the back end of the 2018 draft. If we run out of time, try again with our next pick in the eighties or a later pick and find out which other clubs are looking to trade 2019 futures at the back end of the 2018 draft.
Have you got an abridged version?

Most insiders do this anyway, and ours are no different.

Does tiger71 or anyone have any actual legit info of who we are after?
I’d assume that only the recruiters would probably know
On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app

Most recruiters talk to each other so they have a fair idea what they can go for. The only problem is one team to change its mind on a player and it throws everything out the window. That's why they have second and third lists as a backup. Like I said they all know what they are after but can't say.

We are considering Craig Lambert’s son for rookie selection I’m hearing from some fellow Tiger tragics.
Played an excellent debut game against Frankston but was surprising dropped for the VFL finals. Could be a good pick up.

The consensus draft here: http://www.hpnfooty.com/?p=31294
Hopefully we do better with a couple of sliders.

Can you ask your old man if its Ethan Penrith? PM if you dont want to post.

NED McHENRY went for a run this week, which is not an unusual practice for a draft prospect less than 10 days away finding out where he will start his AFL career.

Except this run went for 30km. He left his house in Geelong, headed for nearby suburb Highton and ended up at Barwon Heads on a warm Tuesday night.

"It probably was a bit of a weird thing to do," the Geelong Falcon told AFL.com.au.

"I go for a long run occasionally and I don't take any headphones, I just run. There were stages when I was thinking 'I could stop now, the road is pretty busy' but I didn't really want to stop."

Running underpins McHenry's nature as a footballer: he's a relentless prospect with a work ethic almost unmatched in this year's draft pool.

He won the Yo-Yo test at last month's NAB AFL Draft Combine (the endurance test that replaced the beep) and came sixth in the 2km time trial.

It's partly why some clubs, including Richmond, Adelaide and Melbourne, are considering taking the 178cm McHenry with top-25 picks when names are called at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night and Friday.

He's a tenacious tackler who can play forward, add pressure and create, and he can also move through the midfield and work up and down the ground. Which takes us back to the running.

McHenry wasn't always a dominant runner.

Growing up in Macedon before moving to Geelong in grade six. He spent years seven and eight at Geelong College, before his mum Sam decided it was a good idea for him to cross schools and spend year nine at Geelong Grammar's Mount Timbertop campus three hours out of Geelong.

Timbertop is a full-time boarding campus of the school where the full year level is isolated from family and friends in a bid to improve independence, with a wide outdoors curriculum. It was also where McHenry's running strength came alive.

"It was a crazy year. Footy was big to me so not being able to play that year was something I missed. But reflecting on it, Timbertop was amazing," he said.

Some of the challenges we had to face, like waking up really early and going hiking for six days with everything we needed on our backs, was huge
"We did a lot of running and at the start you think 'How am I going to get through this?' but everyone finds a way. They do a marathon that's about 30km at the end of the year, which you build up to, and I remember coming up that last hill and knowing it was the last time I'd do it. That's when I understood why it was all worth it."

McHenry won that marathon, by the way.

He became obsessed with his running, and was keen to follow a mentor at Geelong Grammar, Ross Hopkins, into completing a 100km surf coast run. Footy got in the way, though, as his Falcons pre-seasons started to take shape.

McHenry went back to Geelong College in year 10, where he has completed his schooling this year, but his running capacity continued to grow. The competitive 18-year-old sees it now as one of his major weapons as a player, knowing he can outwork whoever he's on. He also enjoys the freedom a run brings.

"Sometimes I run to clear my mind and sometimes I run to get my mind busy. I think about everything when I'm out there. I think about some weird stuff. I've got a list on my phone and a hard copy diary of ideas I have, so I might come across them when I'm running and then jot it down," he said.

"I have all kinds of things – ideas for businesses, ideas for inventions, ideas for things I want to do in my life, ideas for my coffee table I want to have when I'm older. I've got a massive list."

The coffee table, for what it's worth, would be see-through and would allow McHenry to see plants and cactus' grow inside it. "I reckon that'd be epic," he said.

He has other ideas. "Also, when I'm older, I once a fortnight want to have someone random over for dinner. It might be like a Thursday every second week, it might be someone I've met down at the newsagents," McHenry said.

"Don't you think that'd be epic? Doing that once a fortnight when you meet someone new in your life. You'd learn cooking with it. It'd be cool."

McHenry is an energetic, on-the-go personality. He's inquisitive and chatty, interested and interesting. He loves to get out on his boat and go fishing and next year is hoping to study a media course. Clubs enjoy his enthusiasm and natural spark, and have seen the impact he has on teammates.

"I've always enjoyed my footy and my personality's come out through that. Everyone's a little bit different. I've always been the more bubbly and positive person," he said.

"I don't know if [clubs] enjoy it. They probably hate it. I really just do try to be myself in interviews. I definitely just try to present as myself and that's just who I am. I don't try to be upbeat every morning, but usually I am excited about it all."

He has reason to be excited at the moment. He recently got a call from the AFL's national talent ambassador Kevin Sheehan asking him to attend the draft next week, and he can't help but wonder about what it would be like to hear his name called by an AFL club.

"I haven't necessarily been the most talented kid as a junior or even this year, but my intensity with my training and energy on and off the field is something I've really tried to bring," he said.

"I had a laugh to 'Shifter' when he was on the phone and he invited me to the draft and he said, 'Who would have thought this two years ago?' And I reckon it's true, in a way. I think I've earned this position to give myself a go."

Matt Balmer has said we'd take Stocker or McHenry if available at our first pick in the foxsports draft chat.

Good player if only he was 10cm taller, Has everything that we need and immense tackling and reads the play well

Love to give the Dont Argue as well , Dusty can help fine tune that for him

Higgins & McHenry same size

McHenry is an interesting one. Aerobic beast if not a little on the small side. Stocker a great size but needs to work on his tank. Cant we just get both.
