Exactly.Why do points matter?
Massive wank over points when deciding on a trade.
It makes sence for understanding how much a team needs to give up to match a bid for a FS

Could very well by the time it comes to our turn those sides with the Multi 2nd rnds(Melb,GCS & WCE) might have already done deals with one of or both picks.I just don't get how the live pick trading will work.
People are assuming when we get to pick 17, we can instead trade it for 2 picks in the 20s.
I imagine it more like us getting to our first pick, realising there are a few players still on the board we would be happy with, offering our pick for trade and getting an offer of about pick 30 and a **** all offer to upgrade one of our 3rd round picks.

Wasn't he already a rookie for 3 years? Not sure if we can rookie him again?Bit off the topic but Chol was at the club doing weights today according to Bolton’s Instagram so would assume both he and Townsend will get a rookie spot.
Pretty sure we can, just had to delist him first. He couldn’t just be retained like previous years.Wasn't he already a rookie for 3 years? Not sure if we can rookie him again?
Good chance they would let him do the preseason training to give him the best chance to get picked up by another club in the draft/rookie draft. Or it might be a kick up the bum with the thought of possibly re drafting as a rookie again.Bit off the topic but Chol was at the club doing weights today according to Bolton’s Instagram so would assume both he and Townsend will get a rookie spot.
He played predominately forward at the champs, much like O'Halloran did. In fact most of the year he spent up forward with only occasional runs in the middle.RCD seems like a real boom or bust pick. I think a lot of people are drawn to him because of his height which draws comparisons to Cripps/Bont/Fyfe. 12 touches per game at the champs doesn’t fill with me with huge confidence
By delisting him we are allowed to do whatever we like.Wasn't he already a rookie for 3 years? Not sure if we can rookie him again?
If Adelaide bid on Briggs with pick 21, we should try to do a deal with GWS for pick 25 which they will lose matching.
2019 second round pick + pick 64 for pick 25
This should give GWS enough points to match using pick 56 and 64. Both these picks will increase in value if there are multiple bids earlier in the draft while pick 21 and 25 will drop.
the rookie draft is now straight after the main draft, so players cant do the whole pre-season training to impress clubs any more.Good chance they would let him do the preseason training to give him the best chance to get picked up by another club in the draft/rookie draft. True, but the players are still training, especially doing weights, and especially those wanting to hit either draft. So you'd think Cho would be still allowed at the club either to impress a potential new club, or to curry favour at Richmond with the hope of being re-drafted.the rookie draft is now straight after the main draft, so players cant do the whole pre-season training to impress clubs any more.
edit: there is now this supplementary selection for ex players ie mummy, so he could be selected in that.
12 touches and not a big enough tank. Wouldnt pick him in the 1st roundRCD seems like a real boom or bust pick. I think a lot of people are drawn to him because of his height which draws comparisons to Cripps/Bont/Fyfe. 12 touches per game at the champs doesn’t fill with me with huge confidence
What’s in it for Sydney though? Don’t think they’d do the trade for the sake of helping usHe played predominately forward at the champs, much like O'Halloran did. In fact most of the year he spent up forward with only occasional runs in the middle.

To match for Briggs at 21 GWS needs 681 points after the discount is applied. BTW teams can't use 2019 picks unless they don't have enough points to match a bid this year, then they lose points starting with their 2019 first round pick.
A deal I'd like to explore is our picks 17 37 64 & 68 for Sydneys 26 33 & 40. Those picks equal pick 7 in value and if the Saints bid on Blakey with pick 4 the discount means that they only need points to the value of pick 7. That would get us 3 picks inside the first 40.
Sydney will have to use those picks on matching a bid for Blakey which is likely to come anywhere from the Saints at number 4. By doing the trade they still get Blakey and their picks pretty much stay the same. What’s in it for Sydney though? Don’t think they’d do the trade for the sake of helping us
Pts are for Academy picks which GCS may have someone to pick via the rorting system. So they'd only trade if they got similar # of pts back. Why do points matter?
We sure can, but after 3 yrs we had to either elevate or delist, but Clubs are allowed to pick them up as rookies again.Wasn't he already a rookie for 3 years? Not sure if we can rookie him again?
I couldn’t see us giving up 17 to drop back to 26, still a chance of getting some decent talent with 17. 26 is a bigger gamble. 40 is and even bigger gamble, just as likely to get at least 1 decent player out of 64 or 68.He played predominately forward at the champs, much like O'Halloran did. In fact most of the year he spent up forward with only occasional runs in the middle.
