It's going to be very interesting how this all turns out.

Lukosius and the forward King brother are probably out of reach.

Do we go Hill/another mid + Carter and settle with that? Do we try and move up for a KPF (almost impossible IMO), or move back in at around where O'Reilly might sit, assuming he comes on and is worth it?

I would just take the best player with our first with a leaning towards a tall or a leaning towards a local. Assuming players rated similarly. I would exclude types we don't need, such as rucks.

Hill /best mid ,or gun medium fwd /mid with first.(both pref local)
Trade into where oreilly is (who knows but at this stage prob early second) and take
Then grab carter
Done.

That's pretty much been my dream scenario for months: Hill, O'Reilly and Carter (and Medhat if he's good enough). No homesickness in that group!

Kid hasn't done anything. At this point he should be worried about getting picked at all, not us worrying about losing 2019 points to get him.
Cal Twomey said he was at least a pick 25+ And didn’t seem to excited by him. Good kick with wheels and that it

Assuming/hoping we don't pick inside the top 5 then I'm firmly in the iHill camp myself or maybe Rozee (SA) but I am going early and saying AT LEAST 1 of the King twins goes after pick 5.

I'd say we have a very good chance of selecting a King this year if we want one. I do realise that Ben plays back mostly but I believe he is still handy up forward. Better kick and athletic profile as well I think.

Going by previous drafts Fogarty pick 12 Marshall pick 16, Brander pick 13, Oscar Allen pick 21 from memory O'Reilly should go between 12-21.
O'Reilly has at least kicked bags of five at colts level, but with the Victorian bias will have to excel in U18's to be mentioned.
If we do go KPF a quality third tall to complement Dixon, Tabs? McCarthy should get the mismatch.

Our 2019 1st to GC for their 2018 2nd (plus another 2nd), their 2019 2nd and their 2018 3rd.

2018 1st - Hill
2018 2nd - O'Reilly (would love the FS rule to come in to play ala Mundy 300 AFL appearances). I think it should be years on list etc as injury can be cruel - ala Mora, I'm sure he would love his son/ daughter to represent Freo etc. I'd even include admin staff. Make it a real fortress.
2018 2nd - Carter (discounted via Academy)

I mean if you're going to bend them over may as well ask for Jack Martin too.

It's pretty much the original offer we got for Weller, which they thought was fair. ;)
GC need to attract top end talent. They need the high picks. GWS did it so well..GC did a minor version of what we did.

Martin? Yes please.

Hey like the positivity but you only get one Scott Clayton in your lifetime;)

Using the following system of:

(A)Score out of five for athletic traits for primary position
(B) "" for versatility
(C) "" for results with emphasis on consistency rather than 1-offs
(D) "" skills x decision making
(E) +1 of a captain
(F) -1 if F/S or academy; arguably I should make this a larger negative....

Based on this have the following Top 20 sitting in clusters as such:

1. Walsh (4+4+5+4=16) (Average size mid)
2. Rankine (4+2+5+5=16) (Average size mid)
3. B. Smith (4+4+3+4[+1]=16) (medium mid)
4. Lukosius (4+4+4+4=16) (tall utility)
------
5. Taylor (4+4+3+4=15) (medium mid)
6. Rozee (3+4+3+5=15) (average mid)
7. Hately (4+4+3+4=15) (medium mid)
8. B. King (4+4+3+4=15) (ruck tall utility)
9. Hill (3+3+4+5=15) (small mid)
10. Thomas (5+4+3+4[-1]=15) (medium mid)
----
11. Caldwell (4+3+3+4=14) (medium mid)
12. Blakey (4+4+4+3[-1]=14) (medium tall utility)
13. M. King (4+3+4+3=14) (ruck tall forward)
14. Carter (5+4+3+3[-1]=14) (medium mid)
15. Bytel (4+3+3+3[+1]=14) (medium mid)
----
16. Joyce (3+3+3+4=13) (average sized mid)
17. Valente (3+3+4+3=13) (medium mid)
18. O'Reilly (3+2+4+4=13) (medium tall forward)
----
19. Collier-Dawkins (4+3+2+3=12) (medium tall mid)
20. Berry (3+3+3+3=12) (average mid)

Other names close by weighing up were F/S West, Scott, Fletcher, also Williams.

Small <180
Average 180-184
Medium 185-189
Medium tall 190 - 194
Tall 195 -199
Ruck tall >199

I wouldn't want to take a Victorian twin if his brother is playing at Carlton etc.

Just as any eastern states club would be thinking real hard about taking Ian with his cousins playing at home already.

And his manager would have him talk about being happy to play anywhere.

Yeah I gathered your post was based on what wc got for their future first off gc but again think it was as much about extenuating circumstances as of "fair value"(FWIW I think wc did well with that trade just they kinda screwed the actually picks).

I mean gc had a heap of seconds and clearly didn't want to be developing another heap of youngsters with no guarantees from scratch(they took slot the year before too but higher picks)

Their under pressure to start getting results (afl and to keep lynch) hence think they bit the bullet hoping to simply nab top 10 picks that have more 'chance' of making it.

I totally agree. Although we all do that at some stage.

Only so many of Barlow (love), Rosa etc and soon Lach Snr can go there to provide "leadership" and fill TPP.
