Gruden hasn't coached for years. It would be almost as bad as Arizona State hiring Herm Edwards off the ESPN set.

And yet is still a better option than some of the other candidates.

Wont see any College coaches move up because of the early signing day a few weeks ago.

A Gruden hire is more about the name, i wouldnt expect him to call plays. He will be made or broken by the OC and DC he hires.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Raiders are "preparing to pursure" Jon Gruden as their next head coach.

The Raiders are expected to make Gruden an offer that "could include an ownership stake." He'll also have the power to reshape the front office, potentially putting GM Reggie McKenzie out of a job. With the Bucs keeping Dirk Koetter, the Raiders are willing to eat the remaining three years on Jack Del Rio's deal to get Gruden back in Oakland, where he spent his first four seasons. Gruden has been putting together a staff over the last few weeks and signs continue to suggest he's serious about making a return.

Would his ego and control-freak nature allow this though?
I think he would. He will know he is just there to be the face and they will have his assistants sign exclusive contracts with big buyouts.

He will help with gameplan over the week, but not call plays on gameday.

I remember the excitement of Parcells joining the Boys, Jimmy Johnson the Fins, even Joe Gibbs comeback...but sometime the hype doesn’t match the performance. Let’s not forget Dungy played a huge role in setting up the Bucs

Didn't realise Mularkey was facing a "win or be fired" situation this week
Titans FO is unhappy with the offence and Marriota not getting better.

Yep. Mariota has regressed this year despite the Titans signing and drafting players to help the offence. Puts the pressure on the head coach.

The Ringer's Mike Lombardi reports the Broncos are in talks to re-hire Gary Kubiak as a front office executive.

After resigning from his head-coaching position last January in part due to health reasons, Kubiak stayed involved in the Broncos' organization in a scouting/advisory position during the 2017 season. He was rarely at team headquarters, however, and a true front office position would bring him back to the organization in a major role. Kubiak was Broncos GM John Elway's backup during their playing days and they maintain a close friendship. Friendships, of course, are the driving force behind almost any job hiring in the NFL.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Colts are expected to fire head coach Chuck Pagano after the season.

The Colts haven't reached the playoffs since falling to New England in the 2014 AFC Championship (yes, the Deflategate Game) and simply weren't competitive without Andrew Luck this season. Even when Luck was healthy last year, the Colts could only muster an 8-8 record while slumping to a third-place finish in the AFC South. According to reports, GM Chris Ballard has already been eyeing Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub and Patriots OC Josh McDaniels as potential replacements. Pagano has been with the Colts since 2012.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Titans coach Mike Mularkey is in danger of losing his job.

Mularkey has dubbed his offensive philosophy "exotic smash-mouth" but in reality, the Titans run one of the league's slowest offenses and have been unable to make use of Marcus Mariota's unique dual-threat skill set. Even worse, Mularkey has wasted another year of Derrick Henry's career while continuing to feature injury-ravaged veteran DeMarco Murray. Even if the Titans beat Jacksonville to secure a playoff berth, which would be their first in nine years, Mularkey's job won't be secure unless Tennessee advances at least to the Divisional Round. Per Rapoport, Mariota's lack of development has caused "serious frustration" within the organization, which could prompt the Titans to replace Mularkey with a quarterback guru like Patriots OC Josh McDaniels.

Ill say it again. Texans wont do jack with BoB as HC.

Bad decision to kerp him.
You’re basing it on a couple of bad late game decisions he’s made, which he himself admitted. All coaches make boneheaded from time to time.

You have to look at overall work and this season it was some of his best.

And he thought Tom Savage was the best QB on the roster at the start of the season.

They have won in spite of him. Not because of him. But they have lost because of him.
