Just curious.

What's the next emotional level up from curious?
Aggrieved?
I'm with you; it's p*ssed me off how the Vic media won't acknowledge home ground advantage that Tigers, Hawks etc. have had over interstate teams. on GF day
It's an inbuilt unfairness that you just have to absorb when you barrack passionately for a non-Vic team.

As an aside, and not referring to your point, I thought the low point of the Grand Final parade was some Vic numpty journo asking Jake Lever where he was going to play next year. How off-putting to ask him that on the eve of the big day. Showed no respect for Adelaide's team preparation.

That said, the presser yesterday with lever was interesting. He bent the crows over with some of his comments... he actually said if I can’t get to melb through trades I’ll go to the pre season draft.

Maybe the reporter had a tip off he was going to be a jerk about it?

Charlie Cameron got the same question.

Interesting article on afl.com about Smith’s priorities as he vists the bombers and the blues... he wants to know how they handle rehab from an injury

Two schools of bought here :

1) he is dissatisfied with how we handled him this year and doesn’t want it to happen again meaning he is def out the door
2) his pcl injury may need surgery and he wants to know how they will handle him coming back. In this case the door is still open for him to stay as other clubs may Baulk at an injured player

Very rare for players to stay after reaching this point. I'm not sure I'd want them to.
I dont want Devon to go, but the club made the offer they beleive they can, said publicly he's wanted. His call from there.

If he did stay now there'd be constant speculation.

I was onto him early... and I read that Nick Shipley ran a 2.84 20m sprint earlier this year. That is elite speed. He is about 6 ft 3 and solidly built. Midfielder. Lookout.

Hopefully it works for him. Sad he's leaving.

Agree it's a bit sad, disappointing.
His last 2 years have been underwhelming, which I'm guessing he's attributing to injuries. Did the Giants medical staff look after him right?
Or, like Treloar, did they not offer him enough?
I recall the topic earlier this year, Kelly or Smith, and most/all picked Kelly.
(If there was a thread Hopper vs BamBam, would've picked Hopper after his 2nd semi game).

I dont think we have to look further than Raymann's info that he was on overs and the new contract was less. Club said he's wanted and he said he wants to stay, I believe that.
Lot harder for a player to accept less in cold hard cash, than to forgo an opportunity to increase their income by more than the ckub offerred as Kelly did, I think.
I actually thought it would be close between Hopper and Bam Bam a month ir so ago as to which was preferred, club clearly made a choice for Hopper though.

Looks like we are going to end up with a bunch of 2nd rounders!

Hoping we can pick up a future 2nd or two as next year looks exciting.

Not sure how the Bombers divy up Stringer and Smith without losing their first two picks unless they let Francis go back home and trade in another pick.

It’s probably good the players are choosing different clubs as it should give us a better opportunity of getting fair value or fairer value.

It's going to be brutal!
  • A contracted player that wants to go home.
  • A player that doesn't want to take a pay cut.
  • A player that we didn't offer a contract to.
It's the biggest exodus since the Bible! Well, one out of three ain't bad.

For those of us who don't actually know/care about every team's footy dept beyond the head coach, who is Bains?

I assume St Kilda, given some dumb tweets I've seen re Shiel, but would like some confirmation.

Pretty sure it'd be Ameet Bains, who is someone high up at St Kilda.

I’ll be the guy at the bombers game with money bags as props to boo smith with if anyone was wondering what I look like ;)

Trade radio reporting Tomlinson offered a 5yr deal at St Kilda. Despite one year to run.

Interesting development. Would say pick 7/8 in play given he’s contracted. He’s a pillar for us though so doubt it’ll happen

You would not even consider it for less than Pick 7. That is more than he is worth but he is contracted and is just about to enter the best part of his career.

I thought he was really good this year, a much improved player and a player that has excellent specs. He looked terrific at the MCG and could be a very damaging player there.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
