Cal saying that Port looking like either trading their pick but really want Dylan Williams. Weighing up if they can trade slightly back and still get him or just pulling the trigger at 22

Says Adel looking likely club for Robertson. Gould could slide to NM. Says that Port were really keen on De Koning and Geelong on Georgiadies but they basically gazumpter each other tactically

The thing with Robertson is his uncle is the list manager at Weagles, Darren Glass. That may indicate a flight risk and no doubt the Eagles will come hard for him wherever he goes.
At the end of the day though, if he's a good selection and they end up trading a lot for him a la TK then he's still the best selection for our list... I honestly don't think that's playing into anyone's thinking too much. Every player has some preexisting connection to a club and only a small portion go on to down tools

I watched the replay from last night its very slow.

Surley it could be done alot better.
Can you imagine being a player who was touted as a first round pick, your name isn't called out and now you have to wait another 24 hours to see when & whom will draft you?

I’d love to get Robertson but if the Crows take him there’ll still be a few very nice options for us.

That's true. FWIW I hope we still pick him up.

I would get aggressive - good stock of known talent here so maybe FR1 from WC, 24 and 36 for Crows 22 and 23, or swap our FR1 and 26 with Port or Brisbane to get in front of Crows. Then pick up 2 of Robertson, Gould, Sharp, Williams
I'd take Robinson and clean out West Coast in 2yrs time for a further 2yrs

Yes my WA footy mates are all over this today - they just dont get why he hasnt gone. Say he is a gun when you see him play but clearly all clubs dont agree on value of him for round 1. I forgot Bianco as well before, so there really is a good bunch of say 7 odd players that would be round 1 most years. Im just saying very little downside in converting a FR1 into one of those players, and using 36 for a club that needs points.

This is the preview in The Age by Peter Ryan who seems to have good Cats mail. He’s the only one I saw linking Cooper Stephens to us at our first couple of selections. Makes me think we’ll look at Worrell, Jones, and Perez tonight.

GEELONG

PICKS:
14, 17, 24, 36, 93.

KEY DEFENDERS: Mark Blicavs, Harry Taylor, Jack Henry, Nathan Kreuger, Stefan Okunbor.

SMALL/MEDIUM DEFENDERS: Tom Stewart, Jake Kolodjashnij, Jordan Clark, Mark O’Connor, Jed Bews, Zach Tuohy, Zach Guthrie.

MIDFIELDERS: Patrick Dangerfield, Joel Selwood, Mitch Duncan, Brandan Parfitt, Jack Stevens, Cameron Guthrie, Nakia Cockatoo, Quinton Narkle, Charlie Constable, Sam Menegola, Oscar Brownless, James Parsons, Sam Simpson, Jacob Kennerley.

KEY FORWARDS: Tom Hawkins, Esava Ratugolea, Josh Jenkins, Blake Schlensog.

SMALL/MEDIUM FORWARDS: Gary Ablett, Luke Dahlhaus, Gryan Miers, Gary Rohan, Tom Atkins, Lachie Fogarty, Jake Tarca, Ben Jarvis.

RUCKS: Rhys Stanley, Darcy Fort

Regular premiership contenders Geelong have plenty of young players but their champion quartet Patrick Dangerfield, Joel Selwood, Gary Ablett and Tom Hawkins are nearer to the end of their careers than the start, so they must make the most of this chance to replenish their list after star midfielder Tim Kelly needed to return to Western Australia for family reasons. Fischer McAsey would be an ideal fit for the Cats but he is unlikely to reach them at pick 14. The club has explored options to move into the top 10 but have yet to reach a deal. Cooper Stephens is a local product from Colac, who missed the season with a broken leg but he is a chance to be around at pick 17 despite entering the year as a top 10 candidate, while Josh Worrell is a tall of interest to the Cats. Harrison Jones is a key-position player expected to go in the second round too. Flynn Perez trained with the Cats as part of the academy program before he missed this season with an ACL injury. Geelong has never been afraid to back their development program and he is worthy of consideration late or as a rookie. Mature age South Australian Brad Close is another to have attracted interest from the Cats while they made add a young ruckman to develop, with Nick Bryan potentially a consideration after Zac Smith and Ryan Abbott found new homes.

Robertson's game against VC was amazing. He made higher rated players like Serong, Flanders and Kemp look second rate.

Would be disappointed if we let him slip. Aside from being a gun junior player, we have an opportunity to being some much needed leadership into our young group with him. I think what he brings is much more than just his skill at winning the footy.

Wonder whats going through Robertson's mind he would of thought i am going inside the top 15 and now he could drift out to 25-30

Would even have to be doubt in his mind that he is getting drafted at all

Really feel for all those young boys having to not only go through it once but twice (stupid money grubbing AFL)

I don’t necessarily disagree but his kicking is average and turn overs kill you in the modern age. Danger does it enough really. I can see why clubs are luke warm. Having said that, I wouldn’t be against Geelong drafting him.

Double edged sword right there. Eagles may be obliged to come hard.... meaning that they have to pay overs to take him back. Eagles may not want to deal with Geelong on this sort of thing in future, as we have some practise now at just saying 'no'.

I would wonder as well what extenuating circumstance excuse that Robertson can give that would equal or trump Kelly's to try and leave earlier?

Dangerfield isn't probably the best player to use to support your argument... if we got another one of him I'd be rapt...

I do know what you mean, but I don't think his kicking is that bad. His ability to win the footy is second to none in this draft.

If we really had something against WA kids we wouldn't have drafted Clark last year and wouldn't have been so closely linked to Georgiades. We either don't rate Robertson for his kicking, or he's literally told clubs that he's going back to Perth at his first opportunity. Personally I think it's the former, but who knows really.

Being related to Glass is probably a factor why other clubs are iffy. If he turns out to be a great player can guarantee Glass will come to nab him.

Same with Jonty Scharenberg a few years ago. Was touted top 10 for most of the year and didn’t get picked up at all, not even rookie listed!

His kicking in the champs was fine, it didn’t even occur to me while watching that it was a weakness. Bizarre.
