I'm not melting now either. He could be a gun key defender and we do need one. I just think the club needs to go in a different direction for once. Prioritise the midfield with the top end.

Yeah, isnt the difficulty that good teams require an elite midfield option, that we don't have one, and that our best opportunity / our massive use of capital has come and gone without us getting one? So, what now?

I don't agree that a key defender isn't a high resource position, we wouldn't have so many clubs continuing to pay overs to lure our key defenders if that was the case, IMO, take that for what it's worth, usually not much.
