Starting to worry that the AFL will consider f**king us over by giving Gold Coast a priority pick straight after its 1st..if there is wind of this possibly happening i would hope and expect that our club will use any and all means at its disposal to prevent that from happening. It needs to be made clear to the AFL that we should not be punished (losing access to one of the 2 standout players) this year when we have the highest pick through savvy trading we have ever had in our history

They won't. if GC get a PP, it will be end of first round.

How can you be so sure?..I don't trust the AFL one bit and if it hurts us then the more likely they are to consider it
Weren't Brisbane the last team to get a priority pick in about the last seven years of the draft, and end of first round pick. The last first round pick was in 2009, Tom Scully to Melbourne.

You sound paranoid, GC will NOT get picks 1 AND 2. Not a chance. It's been 10 years since the last start of draft PP.

That last bit simply isn't true.

And no, they won't be given pick 2.
don't you remember the Rendell issue - The AFL all but forced us to let him go and then that same organisation happily let Collingwood take him on. Or how about the Melbourne tanking saga - who got penalised there - not melbourne who got a paltry fine. We did as we lost our assistant coach with no compensation for a whole year. No, when it comes to our best interest, the AFL could not give a stuff

Had a look at the Lions H&A season so far, had they not choked to CarLOLton and Freo last kick of the game, they would be coming equal 1st on the ladder.

They are a real smokey for this year's flag. Their one loss to a Top 8 side is the Pies who's form has since definitely dipped.

Their form in Melbourne isn't great, and if they are to be in contention they must best Port here this week.

Very paranoid.

They are 2W 2L in Melbourne this year*. (not counting the hole in Ballarat in which they lost)

Losing to the Dons (very early in the season) was bad and their loss to the Blues was even worse bordering on catastrophic. However, I do see them as outliers rather than a reflection of their form in Melbourne.

I can see Port winning this weekend, more so because it is back to back away games for them more than anything else, it wouldnt change my opinion of them.

Unfortunately their draw wont gives us any more insight into their Melbourne form issue, their next game isnt till R23 when they play the Tigers. Which may end up determining which team makes the Top 4.

Ironically they may not even play a game in Melbourne against a Victorian opponent in the finals if they are blessed with a dream finals draw.

you want to hope I am..otherwise it is our club that gets shafted if a PP after GC 1st is given
Don't need to hope that at all.

And if they do give them one it won't be "to shaft the Crows"

I really really really hope you are correct re the PP. But GC are falling in a huge heap again and the AFl could quite easily argue that the mature age concessions given last year were not enough

Leave the conspiracies to actors like Alex Jones. Even the AFL understand that Gold Coast's wounds are not going to be salved by a single priority pick no matter where it lands.

I have loose contact with one of the fringe players there. They are coming from a long way back culture-wise. Them surviving is not going to be on the back of another pick 1 or trading pick 1 for Gary Ablett v2, but how well they manage to build a club community that players buy into beyond the "distractions" that the Gold Coast otherwise has to offer. It can't be understated just how badly that club stumbled out of the gates up until last year.
