Why wouldn't Spain let Scotland in?

My gut feeling is that it's like telling your four year old they are going to have a little brother or sister stealing their parents attention.
Barcelona and the Catalans, you can probably add San Sebastian and the Basques as well.

The have made it clear no Scotland under any circumstances. Of course this could change but the current bunch in Madrid are pretty hardcore in saying no.

It depends on who's in government. People's Party more likely to block than the Socialists are.
Possibly but political reality may mean the socialists don't either. Anyway Madrid seems happy persecuting any independence movement anywhere at the moment

No you are, Scotland won't be let into the EU as independent country no matter how you spin it because all member states have to agree. Spain will not agree to let Scotland in. Not sure I can be anymore straight forward than that.

You are correct. I recall Slovenia utensil blocking Croatia's entry into the EU for 5-6 years over a small maritime border dispute. Only takes 1 member country to object to keep another out. It's not in Spain's national interests to allow Scotland into the EU.

Add to that the current bunch in Madrid want the rock back as well.

Right-wing authoritarians are people who have a high degree of willingness to submit to authorities they perceive as established and legitimate, who adhere to societal conventions and norms and who are hostile and punitive in their attitudes towards people who do not adhere to them. They value uniformity and are in favour of using group authority, including coercion, to achieve it.
Chief, Malifice has stolen your login.

Progressive policies like SSM and the like are in no way use of authority to enforce traditional conventions and norms. In this board you see people talking about the left not standing for anything, being against everything.
Conservatives in both UK and Australia introduced SSM.

What a vacuous, millennial, blot

Planning to be a doctor is she?

Whilst publicly wishing death on democratically elected political leaders.

Thank god these lunatics lost.
Can you guys stop posting about randon extremist nobodies and pretending they represent a large sway of the population. Imagine what sort of nut cases we could find on the right side of politics to post about?

This reminds me of the time I heard of a Canadian Nazi group being monitored online by multiple agencies. Most of the 20 members were agents trying to infiltrate the group.

Spain wouldn't have any interest in blocking Scotland EU membership years after its independence, which is when it would happen.

Bit like the way the left immediately labels anyone who dares to discuss sacred cow issues, such as immigration, the shortcomings of a certain religion of peace (TM), as being a far right hate speaker?

Depends on whether they see an advantage to further destabilising the UK, particularly if they think it will be advantageous in furthering their claim to Gibraltar. It’s one thing standing against the dismembering of current EU members, quite another taking advantage of the weakness of a departing member.
