Witherden wanted out and we exited players with class.

Still, the Lions are a great club.
Witho was given a gentle nudge by being told he was no longer in the best 22 and would have to fight for a spot.

And exited players with more class than Collingwood😂

As in Braddy’s son? I hope not but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him knock back a father son nomination. Braddy left on pretty bad terms and not sure things have been patched up since.

His beef would be with Vossy and with others who are no longer at the club.
He would be welcomed with open arms to the club now along with his boys and any other new draftee.

Jake used to come up to train with all the other father-son prospects. So I doubt it’s an issue.

Age profile wise our list of players nearer to the end than are Birchall (HBF), Zorko (mid/forward), Robinson (mid), Rich (HBF), Lyons (mid) and Lester (third tall defender). Purely looking at that Briztoon it is evident that HBF and mid should be our focus.
We have in-house replacements ready for those positions (Birchall - Prior, Zorko - Cockatoo, Robinson - Bailey, Lyons - Robertson, Lester - Brock Smith), except for Rich's because he's a hard player to replace. I concur that HBF and mid should be the focus, and this draft will be good for both positions, but priority #1 in my book will be finding Rich's successor.

Me too, no idea who though looking through who is out of contract or an RFA.
Cripps, Kelly, Bontand Merrett are all RFA. Oliver OOC. Nobody else I'd call an A grader, but there are a few boys like Hopper and Tom Green who could become A graders.

Was Rich recruited as a HB or as a potential Mid?

What's your take on Brayden Sier?

Sorry to jump in but I don't see him being any better than our young lads Robertson or Smith. Is also a bit of a loose unit I think?

Phill Inn?

That's the kind of stuff worth discussing, agree we have internal development but in terms of IF we may be trading in an A grade mid, and the A plus players mentioned are unlikely, then who in the next tier is potentially a mature upgrade and astute choice.

Two first rounders also good currency if a trade was an option for a contracted player, and I'd be interested in who we could potentially target if we rolled the dice that way. Also most people wrote off Greenwood and Zak Jones Last year but both were pretty serviceable, and Greenwood was actually very good this year, so there is not really a dire need to bring in a superstar

Casting my mind back a fair bit there, but I think he was recruited as a potential midfielder. Ideally his replacement would be someone who has played in both positions and has great kicking skills, and the projected top 30 is full of those types.

What's your take on Brayden Sier?
Not good enough.

I know he’s welcome back anytime, though I don’t think he’s motivated to come back.

On young Harry. I’m super excited. I’ve coached runners for 23 years and only ever have one crack the ten minute 3k. He was awesome but not in harry’s league.

The two ‘adrenaline junkie’ running events are cross country (1st) then steeple.

Steeple requires a big leap, balance and pace control and acceleration out of the obstacles. I’d be scratching my head if we ever drafted a pure runner, but this is going to be interesting. Teach him how to catch, bounce and how to hold off to create a gap, then get our contested ball champions to feed it to him. Lol He’ll end up in front of the goals not knowing what to do.

I watched loads of swans games when Lewis Jetta was at his peak running, and I’ll be going to reserves games next year just to watch Harry. Going to be fun.
He'd probs be about an 8.30 3K runner I'd think. Nowhere near the big Blitz but very good for a footballer. If he could play like Scully at his peak & get to contest after contest as an extra man, he would be brilliant for us

Players gathered behind closed doors on Wednesday night before joining the 1200-strong throng at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

"I'm over it," Bradshaw said of his acrimonious split with the club and Voss. "There's no point holding on to any grudges.

"The first one (2011 reunion) I was still probably holding a bit of a grudge but I'm over it. It's been three-and-a-half years since I've been back at the club.

"I caught up with a few of the boys last night (Wednesday) and that was great.

"We (Bradshaw and Voss) are all good. No problems at all."

Just found this article and seems like young Harry has Blicavs covered over 2km. Blicavs personal best over 2km is 5:39.

Obviously more to footy than running ability but with reduced rotations and the importance of wingers in the game he’s got a chance.

Love this, thank you. Braddy and Akker were my favorite players back then.

Ballenden also drafted in 2017, didn't play in Prelim: but I think got 2 AFL games in 2021. Payne played Prelim: due to injury to Gardner and as you said if Adams fit probably Payne would have missed out.
Daniher is a big in for us if he fires, he keeps us comfortably in the top 4 if playing well. Cockatoo sounds skilful, but Adams is arguably a solid 'back up', don't believe he is best 22 in 2021. Too many concerns regarding ongoing fitness, and his last AFL game against Hawthorne in round 1 was pretty ordinary.
Sounds like a few of the young guys might be close, and the newly proposed VFL comp will no doubt accelerate their development, hopefully we get TV or streaming coverage of the Lions reserve matches in 2021.

Well I agree to an extent, but am more concerned we can just keep him on the park. With the amount of entries our midfield create he will have his days out, but his real value lays in the fear factor of what happens if he does. Daniher will create headaches for defensive players with just the implied pressure of his presence. He will draw the dominant key back, as well as others looking to assist. It's up to Hipwood, McStay et al to use this to their advantage. They won't ever get less attention than when Joe is lurking about.

Dude you're the most negative poster I've ever come across. For you to say I'm drinking the cool aid is no insult.

I just think they played everything very well. You choose to believe you had better ideas than the club. Delusion my friend.

That’s somewhat of a loaded question.

Pretty sure I’ve answered this in my previous posts.
Hey BriZ there seems to be a change to what was called the Long Term Injury list, it's now called the Inactive lists. I can't quite get it but it seems if you have a long term injury, that player can be made 'inactive' and the list spot can be filled. The example I briefly read about is Gibbs at the Crows. The have to have him on the list to pay out his contract but apparently they can immediately make him 'inactive' and then go to thew rookie draft. Haven't found the direct rules on it yet.

It would seem, if we get near the mid season draft, lets say Birtchell is doing it tough, we could move him to this 'inactive' list with early retirement and go into the draft to fill the spot. Is that your knowledge of the change?

Again the AFL doing its best to replicate US sports like it does with everything.
