Rehab through a care plan with a local physio in a regional town is not quite rehab at an AFL clubThere was nothing stopping the lad doing his rehab though.
The thing is, it's hard to tell if it's a bit of Hodgey or a bit of Billy Nicholls in some of these guys.If our aversion to Hollands (if correct) is based on expert opinion on his knee / running style and the club is not willing to take that risk, so be it. He is a riskier prospect than others.
But I would be disappointed if it was based on a perceived lack of dedication based on a couple extra KGs during lockdown. When we drafted them, Hodge was a fat kid from Colac who knew his way around a beer, and Buddy could not do a single chin up. Conditioning can be taught in an elite environment. Easily. Latent talent cannot be. Hollands has talent others donāt - and that cannot be taught. Thereās more than a bit of Hodgey in him.
I now think it will be moot anyway and he will go to North at 2.

Too right but unlike some on here, after a few I'm a loveable chap.Apparently thereās a bad case of Cabinet Fever doing the rounds... eh Bumps"N"Grins![]()
Lol he ended up in jail right? Nicholls couldnāt kick the ball 55 metres on his non preferred pegs. He was a limited footballer. And ultimately a shitheadThe thing is, it's hard to tell if it's a bit of Hodgey or a bit of Billy Nicholls in some of these guys.
Your right in what you say about the lack of cardio options.Thereās a huge difference between not doing your rehab and putting on 2-3 kgs though. I never said that he was / wasnāt doing his rehab just that I didnāt think he looked as bad as some where making it out to be.
Iāve never done and ACL before but Iād assume itās similar to when you hurt any part of your knee (PCL / MVC / Meniscus etc) in that early on your limited to the amount of conditioning your allowed to do and just mainly focus on the muscles around the knee (repetitive stretching). Outside of hitting the exercise bike and being stuck inside for long periods it most definitely wouldāve been challenging. Youād hope the kid had access to a swimming pool to do water work.
I wouldnāt be surprised if Adelaide or North took Hollands as they both have two first round picks and may take that risk. I also noted in the the interview he commented to the effect he did not expect to be ready to play until circa June ā if everything went well.ā In this scenario clubs may decide to draft others this year as there are deemed to be elite mids in next years draft.
From the Hawks perspective, if he wonāt play much this year it may be better to pass on Hollands this year if they can get a mid of similar quality next year and a āready to goā draftee at pick 4 this year.
For the Hawks Hollands is just a riskier pick than any other club in the top 10.

Thanks mate- have you seen much footage of him play?Heās a small forward, likely to go in the second round of the draft. Winder will most likely be available come pick 24. Whether or not heās on our radar remains to be seen.
Logan. Come on down.On the North board itās fair to say the vibe and a few who come across as a bit ITK, seem to think Hollandās is their guy.
In fact a few North posters are worried the Crows will take Hollandās at 1.Logan. Come on down.
Surely not. If Crows go Thilthorpe, Swans couldn't overlook McDonald. McDonald might not have the most "exciting" tools but with his proven performance as a key forward, it would be highway robbery if he slipped to us at 4. He's the only one I have been confident throughout will not be available to us. We'd pick him in a heartbeat if somehow he was.Logan. Come on down.

You reckon legit chance of McDonald at 4? Would be an epic steal. While I think Hollands has the most talent and highest upside in the draft, as a proven key forward with no injury history, i'd take McDonald with pick 1 for sure. If he's there at 4, we don't blink.Swans have committed to DGB.
We're not passing on Hollands due to a delayed start to this year. He'd be most likely playing BH anyway.
Club will be looking at this decision as a 10-15 year investment. Initial months mean nothing.

I'm not too worried about the 'Luke Hodge' type condition (LOL) but if the club see's something there with the knee / leg mechanics than I'll back the clubs call 100/100. The kicker for me has been hearing from Sven multiple times now that he sees a huge issues with the kids mechanics. It's multiple sources now that have reported the lacklustre rehab and I wasn't doubting any of them. All I said yesterday was that the kid didn't look as fat as a lot were making out.Your right in what you say about the lack of cardio options.
Someone on here did have pretty good Intel saying that he hasn't applied himself to his rehab to the same degree as a teammate or friend that did his knee around the same time, this is the kicker for me not so much the Luke Hodge condition he has found himself in.
