A good reference point for picks.

Wouldn't like to buy a car from you.
It really depends on who approaches who tbh.
But from a less emotional standpoint, something like
6 and 7 for 4 and 24 is weighted towards us.
Post 4 for 6 and 8 and the bombers board. Guaranteed to get worse than "No f*&%^$^&g way"
Severely doubt Essendon will trade two picks just to get a 2 spot upgrade.B: Scrimshaw - Hartigan - Hardwick
HB: Impey - Frost - Day
Philips - O'Meara - Scully
HF: Bruest - Patton - Perkins
FF: Worpel - Lewis - Gunston
C: Mcevoy - Mitchell - Wingard
IC: Greaves - Maginness - Henry - Downie
This would include trading out pick 4, 45,46 to Essendon for 6 and 8, which we would get Perkins and Henry. They would be playing majority in the half fwd line, with Perkins going into the midfield.
This is also a youth policy list - Shiels is unlucky yet his body is cooked. Also Silk should have retired last year, he's just taking the place of others.

They may need 1 for Logan mate.Essendon trade makes no sense, they want McDonald which is why they are rumoured to be keen on 2.
4 won't get them McDonald so they have no incentive to move up.
Suppose that the crows take Tilthorpe, North take Hollands and Sydney DBG - That leaves us Phillips or McDonald - Now we know the Dodo wants mcDonald - instant Joey replacement to placate the hoards and give them the draft win they so dearly crave. 6 and 8 isn't such a stretch - they still have 7. (and we get Perkins and another pick in the top 10)
If we don't get 2 picks of their 6,7,8 (and I'd want 6 as one of them) then no dice and get your car from elsewhere
and for the record I'd be inclined to take Phillips in this scenario anyway - safe in the knowledge that GC would take McDonald and the Bombers miss out on one of the talked about players in the draft - for them its all about appearances after losing Daniher, Saad, McKenna and Fantasia, they need one of those top names. It's not emotional it's strictly business
Did the rule change for next year that you can’t match a first round bid? Or is that the year after? Or doesn’t apply to father/sons?Our pick 24 and next years third rounder for Collngwood’s 2021 first round.
Pies want to avoid having to use their 2021 first pick on Nick Daicos and we want to avoid the chance of having to use 24 on Downie.
Based on similar ladder positions in 2021, the deal is equal on draft value index.
Thoughts?

Me.Are there any potentials out there in DFA land?

If a bid for Downie comes before our pick 24, don’t we have to use pick 24 + others if we want to match?Ok so hear me out
Trade Pick 49 to Port for Picks 57 & 59
Trade Pick 46 & Future 3rd to West Coast for Future 2nd
Trade Pick 45 & Both Future 2nds to Collingwood for Future 1st
So now we have pick 4, 24, 57, 59 & 72
Bidding for JUH, Campbell, McInnes & Gulden will take at least 6 picks between them and our picks late in the draft.
Now those become picks 51, 53 & 66 which is enough to bid on anything pick 25 onwards
So we end up with DGB, Ford & Downie + any late picks/rookies/DFA we get.
Move into next years draft with our 1st & Collingwoods 1st.
If Downie gets bid on before our 2nd rounder we line up to trade it to North for their future 2nd as they've been looking for more picks apparently.
So what do we think?
Bit of a wet dream trade scenario.
Agree. It remains a weak point on the list. I think he’s a better player than Morrison for example and at worst gives some list depth in that running areaI'd be interested to follow Tom Phillips' idea on the recent Hawks draft podcast and have a look at his bother Ed. Sounds promising!PLAYERCARDSTART21Tom Phillips

If so, we’ve essentially wasted pick 24
We need to trade pick 24 first

Considering that Geelong enter this years draft at Pick 59 or something along those lines and also have 3 Second Round Selections next year, I'd be looking to trade them Pick 24 for both Essendon's and GWS's 2021 Second Round Selections.
Surely they'd bite?
I doubt that. Future picks seem to be going for similar positions in this draft, you wouldn't get 2 seconds. I still think it's worth trading out for one second pick next year. Certainly if a Downie bid came in before our 24 I'd be very happy to swap for Essendon's 2021 second.
So we're not allowed to discuss any hypotheticals that people aren't sure could be pulled off or similar trades that prove that said hypothetical could actually happen?
We can however have people speak all sorts of unrelated subjects (which I don't necessarily have an issue with) across multiple threads and have Essendon DERO's roaming free yelling random dribble.
Great to know that in this day and age our rights to freedom of speach here in Australia resemble those of North Korea![]()
