Just up the bloody $ and keep Jezza. Caldwell is probably gone anyway.

If we do lose Langdon, any thoughts about getting Cedric Cox from the Lions as a replacement? Possibly going to end up delisted with their numbers squeeze and Daniher coming in. Stats are pretty similar to Zac's. Not a superstar, but as a cheap backup who does have scope (IMHO) for some further development.

I'm just worried if we only go to the draft to replace the outgoing, we could end up very junior/young and could do with ensuring a balance by bringing in 1 or 2 recycled players. Any other options out there that people like?

Alternatively, PMBangers who might be decent small forwards late in the draft?

Pheonix Spicer is a particular favourite of mine currently, got a lot of good athletic traits and despite what a lot say of him he's not that raw (imo at least) had been putting in a good shift on the wing/ hff for South Adelaide reserves in the second half of the season. I think Corey Durdin will slide as well due to being an average athlete at his height, so if we're looking for more of a skilled guy than athlete he'd be a good option.
Not just to piss off Sydney, I'd really like us to get Gulden, if we get a mid first rounder (say about 15?) I'd chuck a bid in there, I think he's gonna be something special and could play small forward early on. and somewhere in the second round bid for Lions kid Blake Coleman wouldn't be a bad idea

From memory Cedric Cox played a lot of HBF in his draft year? I can't say I know enough to rule him out so I'd be happy to take him on as 2 year + trigger

You are correct!

In his 10 games, Cox averaged 15 disposals and four marks – mostly playing across half-back as well as stints inside forward 50 through the Rebels’ TAC Cup Finals campaign. It was after his game against the Calder Cannons in late July where his AFL aspirations were apparent.

Since that last day in September, Cox returned home to Halls Creek post the National Combine to spend some time with family in the lead up to November’s big day. North Melbourne and Western Bulldogs recently flew up to visit, but Cox is not fazed where he is selected in the draft. “You don’t really know if you’re going to get picked. It’s up to them what pick they’re going to pick you,” he said. “I’ve always been travelling a lot, being away from family and I’ve always had that support and never been homesick ever since. I just want to do something with my life and want to make my community proud and my family.”

On the football field, Cox’s strengths lie in his speed and his vertical leap. His return home to Halls Creek in the last few weeks was a disappointing one for his mates who have grown so close with him since coming to Camperdown in February. Cox has been a part of the local basketball team with his mates and the trip back home saw him miss multiple games after his teammates declared the speedster was a “gun” on not only the football field but the basketball court too.

With many clubs interested in the North Ballarat Rebel teenager, expect his name to be called out in the 10-30 range on draft night, with his exciting speed appealing to those involved at club land. “I play my best footy on the half back (flank), really love to run and carry and use the ball well.”

Sounds versatile and has respectable stats from 2018 and 2019 in the NEAFL from what I can tell, what would you say is his ceiling?

I don't know that he would be any more than a role player, but he would appear to have some speed, and seems versatile enough - if he can cover HBF, forward, and probably wing too, he'd be an asset. You never know, though, if he got a clear run at an opportunity what might happen ...

He did have some issues at Brisbane that stagnated his progress, and Brisbane's winning run last year to this year has kept him out of the top team. We would have to check whether those issues had gone away. Also, there's no guarantee what Brisbane will do with him, but they certainly seem to have a squeeze on list size numbers ... even if not delisted he might be gotten for a relatively cheap trade.

dlanod we're talking about another brisbane player and need your input

The fact he can play HBF, HFF and Wing, all positions of need is enough to warrant us giving him a contract should he be delisted. Just reading up on my past draft notes I have him listed as athletic and speedy which fits our profile as well. I agree with what you said in your first post with getting too many draftees in, if we're losing 5 guys we need someone thats been in an AFL environment to come in, and this'll be the year where there are some real bargains as DFA's available, call me stupid but I'd be looking into a guy like Jasper Pittard as a role player. I'd throw the kitchen sink to get Hunter Clark at this stage, probably my favourite non GIANT now and his versatility + skill is something we need injected into the engine room imo.

Don't think I could come at Jasper Pittard ... Hunter Clark sure - but of course he won't be available. But yes, this year there should be some bargain (and willing) DFAs out there. The trick is to pick the right one(s), and select the right draftees.

He's flashed X factor but he's had a few interruptions but also plays a bit lackadaisical.

He's basically Curtley Mk 2.

Good player, would take some pressure off Phil and enable Keeffe to go back and be the reserve player. Rising 32

The only issue I have with him (not him per se, just his situation) is that he's contracted, and because of the state of the rest of the Norths list, they would likely demand a premium to trade him. I still think that there's value in a few other players who are out of contract - some of whom are likely to become DFAs - who could assist.

True...how bad are they going to be next year...they may not win a game. Basket case of a club.

Pretty unbelievable. The problem is they'll have a massive amount of $ to spend ... just not sure who they'll spend it on. Don't know who'd want to go there, except to get a huge payday. (That's not a crack at Corr, if that's where he ends up, just a broad criticism of where they've ended up with their list cuts & trades.)

A good mid ranger will take the cash. The best players don't need to, they get paid very well anyway and get set up. 4 years at $450k compared to $650k is a life changing difference. $800k compared to a million less so, you're set up for life life regardless.
