There is just absolutely no way in the wide wide world that cox is on that type of money.I know the De Goey preference is to stay and with Cox on 500k, if Jezza said he had a preference in a club out of the 4 clubs i don't think it would be hard for any of them to make it work
Think there will be a lot of chatter but until we know list sizes hard for most clubs to make final moves and cuts

None. Not a chance
Lost me when I saw Damian Barrett![]()

Is Mason Cox the odd man out at Collingwood?
Every recent Collingwood discussion has centred on Collingwood’s star out-of-contract players; Brodie Grundy (who has re-signed), Jordan de Goey and Darcy Moore. It is often asked if one of those players has to go due to salary cap restraints, but maybe that player should be someone else. Mason...www.theroar.com.au

There is no way Barret knows coxs sallary. And you have just posted two articles that take Damian’s claim and represent it as fact.![]()

Much like our salary cap pressure is overplayed in the media, Collingwoods is too. I'm not saying they've got Jez money, but I'd be willing to bet there's some wriggle room that allows the possibility (Beams, Varcoe, Reid likely to retire, that'd free up 900k odd).Given players were already getting pushed out for salary cap relief, I think you've probably hit the nail on the head.

wage reporting is the worst type of reporting in the footy industry. It’s a guess designed to shake the tree and get clicks. Don’t for a minute buy into it
Tbh I’m a fan of the nba style reported wages and take the mystery out of it. But god knows how you get that past the players associationDifferent code, but for a long while, I was in a position to know the exact income of a number of players in the NRL (about 25%), the reported incomes were way off. Quite often there was an element of truth, for instance in a 3 year deal where the player would earn $200k. $250K and $300K over 3 years the article would cite the $300K.
Another trick was to include all possible bonuses (including bonuses for the premiership, rep football and awards), no player on that sort of contract is going to clean up all the bonuses all that often, the guys likely to clean up have all (or at least most) their income guaranteed.
You only have to add up the reported wages of a club and compare it to the salary cap to see that the numbers from the papers are inflated. I think player managers drop the info.
For the poor blokes own health I sure hope notIf we could get someone like a cockatoo from the cats for cheap I would be interested in the risk. If the price is right of course. But his pace and agility at that size make him a point of difference in our midfield group. His injury history is a huge worry but that’s what makes him cheap. It would depend if we believed we could get him on the field or not.

I don't entirely trust our medical team with the uninjured guys we have - let alone wanting to take a risk on a perpetually injured player. Brett Deledio being a prime example. I like the idea, but I'd pass on Nakia. For the poor blokes own health I sure hope not
Well don't keep us hanging =(
I'm hoping Caldwell does stay, with Caldwell, TT, Green and Hopper we'll have the best stoppage play in the comp at some stage
Agree with all of that. Caldwell I also suspect has at least one other club in Geelong sniffing, although that's pretty iffy info. Perryman is a must keep, players of his versatility with quality in all the positions he's thrown in aren't growing on trees.Caldwell has had his most consistent year with his body and shows flashes of a nice player, he has pretty good wheels and can take a nice mark up forward. St Kilda wanted him at the draft and are into him.
If there is a surprise I don’t know of it but if I was throwing darts it would be Kelly. But if we lost Williams/Hately/Finlayson and say Heater and Mumford retire we may be ok re the cap? I would like us to retire Sauce and maybe put him on a coaching deal if there is soft cap room, he has no future.
We must keep Perryman, he’s proper.

If there is a surprise I don’t know what it is but if I was throwing darts it could be Kelly. That thing with his house was weird and form has been indifferent but that might be hub life which our players have really struggled with.

I can see Finlayson leaving but I’m not sure we get much for him
The incredible debut games from young Riccardi should have stamped Finlayson's papers for good, the difference is chalk & cheese. One wants to get the ball at every opportunity, the other picks & chooses when to go and by how hard.
There will be a couple of suitors for Finno, just need to construct a favourable trade deal.
Or, you could just give Riccardi to us for free ???![]()
Yep TrueIf they choose to retire, the rest of the deal can lapse. There are caveats about career ending injuries though.

Interesting.Interesting re: Kelly, there's obviously whispers around him every year, but idk this time I feel like it's, more there if you get me? A best case for that would be North Melbourne and we get both their picks
Interesting.
WCE paid #14, #24, #37 and this year's first rounder (perhaps ~#20) for Tim Kelly last year after making the AA team.
I actually think Josh's stocks have diminished quite a bit since last time we had a go at him. Did not even make the AA squad last year and unlikely again this.
Based on the T Kelly trade there is no way anyone's parting with picks #2 and #13 for him I wouldn't have thought.
