Now that the Giants are matching what do Giants feel is acceptable. I have absolutely no interest in hearing what Haw, WCE, Adel or Rich fans think for obvious reasons.
Given I believe no club has ever traded 3 first round picks for a player let alone one turning 28 before the season and nearly all previous 2 “1st round” trades have involved a 2nd round pick going back. Ie Lever, Gibbs, Treloar, Shiel, Prestia, Beams, OMeara etc. I know everyone wants as much as they can get but what will you feel comfortable with.
* 3 first round picks
* Two first round picks + Hogan
* 2 first round picks
* 2 first round picks but a 2nd round pick back to Geelong
* Pick inside top 8
Obviously the answer is as much as possible.Now that the Giants are matching what do Giants feel is acceptable. I have absolutely no interest in hearing what Haw, WCE, Adel or Rich fans think for obvious reasons.

True. But are we more likely to convince a player with a few years in the AFL system to stay at our club or a wide-eyed teenager who is overwhelmed by the lights of the big time?The issue isn't our focus, it's how many AFL quality players want to come to GWS, which evidently isn't many
Who are we convincing from Geelong to move to GWS? I'm all for bringing in a quality player, but I don't want to be bringing in someone like Esava RatugoleaTrue. I'm thinking picks make the most sense unless we can somehow pry out SDK as a developmental opportunity, but doubt that.I think players will want to come youre a good club.
What types of players do you think your list needs? My observations would be you maybe want a young kry defender and a ruck and they are the two weakest areas of our list so i cant see an obvious player swap there. I could only see a player working if its a 3 club trade where we help you get a player from somewhere else but interested to hear your thoughts. To me draft picks seem to be a more obvious swap.
Speed through the midfield is the other area of need. The preference has to be to take a young ready to go player from Geelong as this hurts Geelong going forward.I think players will want to come youre a good club.

Obviously Parfitt would be good but that seems really unlikely, I wouldn't mind Narkle but feel like that would be a steak knives type more than a replacement for a pick
Constable wouldn't be getting in ahead of any of our inside mids imo, Narkle I'dput on a wing or forward flank, wing especially is an area of need. For similar reasons I'd love Jordan ClarkId be prepared to trade sdk (we would have to draft another key back) but i think the chances he leaves vic while his brother is at carlton are low.
Parfitt id consider but his manager was very adamant last week that he wont move.
Im sure we would be prepared to part with guys like constable or narkle but whether you have a use for them given how good your midfield is is another matter.

Draft picks is the easy option for the cats however our team is a premiership contender so draft picks don’t help with that. We needy players that can slot straight in and have an impact.

Yeah that's the big issue with retaining players for us as well, we usually have to pay an interstate tax for players from traditional footy states, and it leads us to salary cap issues like we've had in the past, but for a guy that would be around for 10-12 years I'd be happy to pay a little bit of a premium initiallyClark i think if you can offer him a regular spot might consider it but i think you would need to offer him a lot more money than fremantle would to get him to nsw.
i doubt we will refuse to trade a player but the issue is we cant force any player to be in the trade the player has to want to be in it which is the issue.
Maybe a third club can help unlock that.

I agree that the most logical way that this impasse could be unlocked is via a 3rd club.
We find player/s, then the Cattery will need to deliver - painfully so - with current and future picks/players to make it happen.
The Cameron trade simply will not happen for picks alone.

That's the common way of saving face - demand a player, and then a random guy from a third club gets thrown into the mix even though it's not really part of the trade. Say, two first round picks to GWS and a third round pick to Freo to bring Hogan over as an example, even though the third could have just come to GWS and they send it on separately.I agree that the most logical way that this impasse could be unlocked is via a 3rd club.

I am bemused at the number of Cats fans who didn't think we would match - that the leaked ''advice to Cats management'' was just huff & puff.
