Doubt it happens.
They'll sort a deal.

I guess we'll know by Monday - as Cameron has 'til then to accept the matched offer. Until then, it's looking more likely he stays given our club hasn't said a word and you don't want to deal with us - very unusual behaviour on both fronts.

I'll leave it there though.

Seems as if that won't be the case. According to a lot of reports, including from people at our club

- GWS are yet to talk to Geelong
- GWS have no interest in engaging in trade discussions with Geelong
- GWS want to retain Cameron's services and believe they can get him to stay

Lol you never planned on allowing him to leave apparently, hence why you matched and didn't even bother working out a side deal to go with the compo.

Very likely he stays now.

So that’s why you have gone on a salty rant all over the site.

Geelong has played the media game the whole time in which most posters have all brought from day 1 and gone on with

If he stays all well and good however ;

GWS have all intentions in working with Geelong and have even stated a deal should be worked out and we all know it will be within the last few days

Geelong should have structured the contract to make us think twice a little before matching, the contract was too standard and only 100k approx more
We said from the onset we will match and when the contract was similar, it was always going to happen
I would've made it a contract similar to Kelly's where its a rolling contract 2-3 year deal with club/player option to upgrade but the 1st year or 2 - 1mil+
There would be no way we would match another Kelly like deal, however should've, could've's doesn't really matter

Cameron's management has even stated he will not be playing at the Giants

There is always a plan to let him leave

You have even stated Giant Strides came up with some good ideas regarding trade deals, however looking unlikely that Witherden will be included in a trade but not ruled out, GWS even stated yesterday that potentially other clubs will be included in the trade

There is not a great deal of us on here and im yet to see 1 un-realistic / or greedy trade offer, most opinions have come from other club posters

We just all agree will be for more then the value of compo pick#12, will it be over the top i don't think so

Clark would be handy, plenty of options from him to slot into the 22 but all the talk is Freo or staying with Geelong

It's a shame Saad nominated the Blues, would be handy back flanker for us after Zac has left

Think Preuss will be the next deal that will need to be worked out then the tough assignment working with Essendon regarding Caldwell

Gee these geelong supporters are entitled aren’t they?

The Cameron deal will get done. I like we are making them sweat on it. They used the media over the early parts of the week to suggest they won’t make a trade in an attempt to pressure us into a corner. It clearly hasn’t worked and if we are staying quiet their plan to create pressure at the trade table has backfired and has been reversed. What a great lesson in humility

Sounds more like posturing than anything tbh but let's see how this all plays out

So it was mentioned on trade radio that discussions were underway and progressing. Matthew Lloyd was contacted specifically whilst on air by GWS and Geelong after the same remarks were made about GWS not taking calls from Geelong. This has been put to bed, we need to stop just running with what we hear and what we choose to believe, sometimes it can be correct sometimes it can be false. Either way we need to stop regurgitating rumours as fact as it really just stunts any constructive discussion.

Wouldn't be good conduct by you guys though, if you actually haven't even bothered speaking to us the whole time. Sours relations for the future in a big way

Nah man. Sorry Mr trump but your claims are not true.

im pretty sure the Giants list manager even said yesterday that there has been ongoing discussions with Geelong

This is completely wrong.

There have been discussions but only brief. We are seeking players and a pick, Geelong very reluctant to give up picks and the players they want us to consider hold zero interest. Charlie f****** Constable please....all we need is another one paced inside mid, Narkle....spell please.

We need a Parfitt or Clark or both, they make us better, Cameron makes Geelong better. The age problem at Geelong is not our problem, Essendon would happily give two early 1st rounders for Cameron.

What is happening is just posturing. I do hope we don’t entertain future picks as Geelong 1st next year will be Pick 17 or 18.

We need proper young talent or two inside 12 picks.

I hope you are right on our asking price

Geelong are pulling all the strings in the media, they know we are talking but paint picture differently to suit their own agenda because they are not getting for free

Should've done contract differently if they didn't want it to be matched

Walk which they won't and other clubs will swoop for more trade value and $$$ for Cameron

They need to pull their heads in and stop trying to deal the trade via the media and come to the party

When Essendon contacted Cameron’s management, the club was told Cameron’s preference was Geelong and his second preference was to stay at GWS.

Wait I thought his management said he wouldn’t play for us. [emoji848]

Could it be media is talking shit and not knowing what is going on [emoji44][emoji57]

I wonder if there’s been massive assumptions that the offer we put to Jezza is all we can afford, not just what we valued him at?

They had the assumption that we wouldn't match at all therefore stuck to low contract, Jezza should've went to open market

The media is just clutching and Geelong are stoking the fire in which BigFooty is loving 🤣

Who knows what dodoro would do but it depends if cameron is willing to go there.

My real question is if gws and geelong cant convince any geelong players to go there what is gws fallback position. Take picks? Or try and trade for mature players elsewhere? That would be interesting to know.

Thats where third club comes into it in which we have come out and stated as a possibility

They making a mountain out of a mole hill at the moment and just need to cut the crap or it will get done the last 2 days once other trades are completed

Thats true all this media type stuff is chip wrapper filling as usual.

When you say 3rd club do you mean a 3 club trade with cameron going to geelong..or you think you will try and convince him to agree to a trade to a different club?

I mean as in a 3 club deal but Cameron to Geelong

I can see that happening i just think in that circumstance it is going to take until the last day or two once player movements open up from other clubs to unlock it.

Could it be tied into the Preuss trade, so you get picks and Preuss in return for Cameron and Geelong send something to Melbourne?

I could actually see that as a possibility plus 2 1st rounders from Geelong, but what would the Cats send to the Demons?

That’s a great idea, however Melbourne may have the same problem with Geelong’s phone hook up method
