Pearce, Hamling and Logue are the 3 KPD's if all fit. I don't see anyone better on our list than those 3 and Logue and Pearce haven't hit prime.

Cox CAN play forward, he is silky that way and I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be a swing player in our side. Even if 1 of the KPD were injured based on opposition we might not even need Cox to go back to defense.

I think our list on gameday is setup quite well to matchup on various opposition lineups.

At the moment I'd imagine JLo is quite happy to roll with Tabs, Lobb and Fyfe as the talls up forward.

Agree with all of this, the only issue for me is I see Cox as a potential AA back. He looked like he could be absolutely elite, has the perfect mix of rebound and defensive skills.
Again, agree wholeheartedly and love Cox (That came out wrong). However we are basing that off one season, and in 2018 he was being touted as one of the best KPFs in the league. Truth is he is a very talented and skilful player and if he can swing between forward and back he will be an absolute weapon.

Alex Pearce was spoken about as a AA back before his injury and Hamling is a premiership KPD who kept guys like Hawkins, Franklin and Kennedy quiet. Cox was played mainly as the "third tall" this year with Ryan taking the best KPF - this to me indicates he MAY not be as good a KPD as we hope, but still a really good defender.

how can we? If we take two rookies including Banfield today we have no spots
I think the supplemental drafts allow for replacement of long term injury players.

So if we have a long term injury player we can replace them.

What would be interesting is if we would draft a player now who is recovering from an injury to dibs them, then use their injury to replace them too. Double dip the pick so the guy we take today doesn't get missed.

Yeah, a bit of a fu**-up yesterday.
I’ve watched Chapman. 193cm and he played on Logan in the All stars match. Versatile player. What I like is that he intercepts and hits the ground running.

If he was best available according to Walls at that pick ahead of Stone, Henry, Cook Macrae then I’m good. I was happy for the club to pull the trigger on any of those players. There were a couple like Henry and Perkins who made it clear that they weren’t comfortable moving interstate.

Adelaide chose local in their two top 11 Picks. We chose Chapman and he was a good chance to go earlier.

“fu**-up” is as someone posted is indeed a quality melt.

We just selected a KPF (Josh Treacy) in the rookie draft to round off our selections nicely. Watching the live feed his name popped up very quickly whereas a couple of the earlier selections took a while to come up.

Cox has played the lion share of his AFL games as a forward. We had a KPD availability issue last season to the point Hogan was trialed back in defence. Hogan is gone and McCarthy had already moved up to wing HFF as he was never a KPF.

We chose Chapman as best available. A versatile type who will likely fill a range of spots around wing, HB, HF or KPD.

Cox back to KPF. We have drafted Josh Treacy a young (only recently turned 18) 194cm, 94kg tall forward.

KPF: Lobb, Taberner, Cox, Treacy (Cox versatile - ie can play KPD and Lobb versatile - ie can play ruck)
KPD: Hamling, APearce, Logue, Chapman (Logue versatile - ie can play smalls and talls and Chapman appears versatile - can play KPD or attacking HB/mid).

I’m not sure what the fuss is about really. APearce is injury prone. Having more defensive cover and the ability for Cox to go KPD is a good thing. We also have Ryan, Hughes and Young who have show ability to play quite tall.

The only thing we didn’t tick off really is a developing ruck/fwd. I would hope we keep an eye on a few prospects for the mid season draft. That is a good time to pull the trigger on a ruck. The mid season draft is in June so will get a good volume of games to view development. Also we can keep an eye on Dixon and how he tracks with East Fremantle.

From what I have seen of Meek he is at least AFL ready to fill in for Darcy if Darcy or even Lobb are injured. Is a make or break season for Meek.

I agree, there will be some very good players at Peel next year regardless - barring multiple injuries. Saying that, how long since we didn't have KPP injuries??? :)

That and the fact there are just not enough quality tall forwards coming through the draft to satisfy all 18 clubs to have, say, two quality tall forwards...and...generally most teams have extra tall defenders compared to tall forwards (ruck the exception) because of the spread of Talls and smalls in the forward area.

This year, Richmond were fortunate and Geelong also to have their key forwards at the end of the year...but ...not so sure that without Lynch and Riewold or the Hawk they would have got through to the GF.

Tigers don't beat Port without Lynch. Jack is a liability when played on his own these days.

As I said a page ago we have only 43, even after taking two Cat A rookies, on the list and 36 on the main. We can fill a main list spot if we so choose not just in the mid season draft but in the Pre season supplementary draft which runs from Jan 6 to immediately prior to the season beginning, which would take us to the max 44. This is without accounting for any LTI's potentially next year.

We are on 43, but have six category A rookies. If we had 37 primary listed players we could only have five category A rookies. The extra player we can pick up is the category B rookie to get us to 44 max on the list.

They want teams to have 42 players excluding cat-bs. Either 36 primary and 6 rookie, 37 primary and 5 rookie or 38 primary and 4 rookie.

We are full, unless someone is injured and long term injury listed or we add a category B qualifying player. Given the lack of international options for middling elite athletes this year we might be able to find an Australian cross code player, perhaps a basketballer who had played footy when they were younger but moved to basketball and hasn't played AFL for three years.

We could fill a ruck spot with that player.

No way Brennan Cox playz for Peel. He is best 22. Full stop.

He is a genuine swingman.

Will Schofield may have to play reserves...

Not sure about anyone else, but I can easily see Chapman being able to develop into a high half forward/third tall forward.

Good overhead. Imagine him leaping about taking grabs all along the wing and then booting it in the f50 where Sturt replicates the nightmare for the opposition. Good times ahead, well done Belly!!

I think people forget that 2 of our key backs in Cox and Pearce were mostly key forwards before their AFL careers at Freo.
Rather then the calls to chuck a Logue or Hamling forward lets look at Cox and Pearce as options given they spent years as juniors playing forward and would not be learning their forward craft from scratch.

Sorry having checked the text on the Players Association website it makes it clear than main list + Cat A can't exceed 42.

I'm thinking the stooge of being able to move a Cat A Rookie to the main list at any time would create a spot in one of those two drafts irrespective of LTI's?

We will be flicking good AFL level players for peanuts in next years trade period because of a lack of game time in 2021

We probably lost about 40% of the career goals on the list with the players we dumped and replaced them with what exactly ?
stop gap maybes who have a dozen goals between them

I like a nice balanced list where every player has someone breathing down their neck

Who’s breathing down Lobbs neck if he carry’s on dishing up the crap he dished up last year

Draft picks who MIGHT be upgrades on players who are already perfectly capable in their preferred positions

I give our 2020 off-season 3/10 but but but best availbles
