Banfield can't tackle at all and is physically weak, and quite a soft player and really should have been delisted.

You saying that he could be anywhere near Brayshaw is indicative of your football knowledge.
Well your first paragraph is spot on and I agree 100%.
Second paragraph, nah, that is uncalled for. I'm glad Brayshaw signed this extension, great news, but let's be honest is there one person on here that wouldn't have preferred it was Cerra? I think that's yyou's point.

To compare Banfield to Brayshaw is ludicrous.

Watch the Geelong game again and in particular a final quarter effort on the freeway side wing where Banfield lets a Cat stroll away from a limp tackle which results in a goal. Not only did he miss a simple tackle, but also gave a very weak chase.

He hasn’t played since.

99.9% of us would prefer Cerra's signature at this point but I think yyous point is rather clear after 3 years and it has nothing to do with Cerra.

Such great news Brayshaw committing longer than Fyfe. So early in the preseason means good signs imo.

Cerra multiple times has indicated that he will leave contract discussions till end of year, “ so strap yourselves in” for this to hang around till October 2021.

Not too many clubs throwing $1M+ a year contracts around for Cerra (happy to match btw) , Carlton need to keep Cripps, Bombers McGrath, Pies rebuilding and paying treloar , Saints (maybe?) , Hawks rebuilding, Melbourne (maybe?). None which are positioned in the same trajectory as ourselves. North has cash but literally 4 years min before finals.

Respect decision to follow his girlfriend but equally respect freo’s decision to gain another first round pick (or two) in the best draft for a decade. Cash wise he goes to north Melbourne, Hawks for 5 years of a rebuild.

To be clear Cerra is an absolute gun, will smash Petracca in terms of ability come 2022 and worth every bit of the cash, but if he’s not committed then respect the call. Equally he needs to respect freo need to be compensated.

I’m a huge fan of Cerra, some of the things he can do on the field is jaw dropping but I don’t think he’s worth a million bucks. That’s Fyfe-level money.

very solid 2020 season for Andy. Obviously you could argue some of these players are cherry picked or have good reasons for down seasons but still shows he's on the way up and his 2020 was sneaky underrated. Blind Freddy could see he needs to be more offensive with metres gained / goals but that goes for almost all our mids.

What that tells me is that his two areas for improvement are:

He needs to push forward more.
He needs to either attend more centre clearances or become more proficient in how he performs there.

What it tells me is that it is amazing he is even competitive with those four guys at his age and experience. Give him another three years and 50 games and he will be an absolute jet. Or maybe (yyou) he just remains a very average plodder like Mundy (Memories).

His goal assist numbers are good & even his dad knows his goal kicking isn’t up to scratch, but I’m sure he’s working on it.

But the below explains why his centre bounce numbers are down in comparison, he just needs to get in there more which will happen with Fyfe forward more often.

I had hoped he would be part if the Cripps trade.
I'll admit he is a better player than I initially judged him to be, but the way he is lauded here is ridiculous
Some sooks on here can't take the golden boy receiving any criticism, but that is their prerogative.
I'd be ecstatic if it was one of the young stars, like Cerra, Serong or Young (2 of which I also wasn't keen on drafting, but I have admitted my error there)
As for Andrew, I hope his next lot of highlights feature more brilliance & not 70% tackles due to great effort, as I'm sure Bailey Banfield could do the same thing if given time in the midfield

I am staggered by how low that number is. Not surprised by Cerras as i found myself being disappointed most of the year that he wasn't in there more.

I must admit I’m a bit disappointed to see the comments around how Brayshaw is the least exciting re-sign of the four big OOCs we have.
The guy gives 120% every time he steps out to play. His grunt work and courage are commendable especially considering the gruesome injury he copped from Gaff.
He is THE leader of our younger players and the commitment he has just shown the club will go a long way to securing the other guys extensions.
Just because you are not the most glamorous looking footballer doesn’t mean you’re less critical. For every silky Cerra bit of magic you need someone like Andy in there getting dirty in the clinches. His offensive work is only going to improve as well. He works too hard at every aspect of his game not to have continual improvement.
Long live our next captain AB!

Do we have any thigh circumference comparisons? I think he might have those four covered already.

Slightly unrelated, can't wait for my annual lashings of Xmas ham this year!

Thanks for sharing this.

We have had some seriously heartbreaking losses to the blues these last two years, but geez looking at the Carlton centre square bounces feel like we are well ahead in the development race. Walsh, SPS, Dow are comparable to our Cerra, Brayshaw, Tucker combo and well down on our 3 not including Serong. Obviously Dow is injured but still very concerning for their development.

Trust me, it won’t be the circumference of your thighs that increases from the “lashings of Xmas ham”.

Cerra’s alright , got a bit better in the contest last year but still doesn’t do much for me as a player

Rating him ahead of Brayshaw is laughable too me but everyone sees the game a bit different I suppose

Each to their own Tony, but I'm the complete opposite. Cerra is easily a better player and his contested work around here is ridiculously underrated and undervalued.

Luckily we have both, so who's better doesn't really matter [emoji4]

Though low key, desperately hoping for Cerra to sign soon.

It seems I am a part of the .10%

Give me the 100% heart and dedication of a skilled player in Brayshaw every day of the week. Cerra may be more "silky" but Brayshaw wants to try and help in every aspect of the game and already speaks highly of the club. You want one club players and he is going to be one.

I love Andy. I'm not disappointed he re-signed, I'm stoked but I also fully expected it to happen. Could read it on his face and in his speech from the day he was drafted.

The only reason everybody wants a Cerra signature way more is because we all worry (at least a little bit) that he is going to leave and not because we don't want Andy.

Cerra and Brayshaw are equally as good for mine but they play a different game.

Brayshaw is becoming a brutal, front-line mid with a hunt and kill attitude that will happily take the hit to give a handpass or do an inspirational rundown tackle to lift the team. His skills have improved and he reads the play very well enabling him see ball and get ball.

Cerra has a set of skills that enables him to be less brutal but inspirational through feats of skill and cunning. He can be brutal as well but given his strength set are elite skills he tends to play to them. He for mine reads the play very well and kinda sees things before they happen.

Both appear to drive standards and lead in their own ways. I can really see them as the two that drive the team as Capt and Vice Capt of the future.
