Rance retiring frees up around $800k next year, so we can probably look to target another star with a nice healthy contract.
The question is whether to replace Rancey with another star key defender, or to go after a star mid to maybe help transition Cotch into a less taxing role.
Darcy Moore is probably the only elite option key defender out of contract, with his age (23) making him very appealing as a like-for-like replacement.
However, there's a lot more options with mids, and some juicy free agents that wouldn't cost us any draft picks.
Crouch is the obvious one that we could go after again, and Zac Williams has proven he's capable of being a star mid and defender, and the flexibility could appeal to us.
The really interesting one is that Andrew Gaff has a clause in his contract that says he can leave as a free agent at the end of 2020 if he likes—and we already know he has interest in coming to Richmond, although he still doesn't fill a need.
