No one in mind, but what we have as back up aren't either ready or good enough.
Josh Walker for North has been fantastic given his new lease of life in the backline.

Crazy idea I know but...why not try 'our' Moore playing back? He's not a forward but has some tools to play in the backline.

Moore would only be another 3rd tall, we have bucket loads of cover in that area

BSOS wont be retained with list reductions IMO. Project backman who haven't set the VFL alight aren't high on any clubs need list, and we'd be smart to just keep him playing for the Northern Blues in 2021, and maybe rookie him if he shows enough. Goddard likely goes too.

I really think we need to start thinking outside the square and target a young athletic young key defender who's had some exposure at AFL level. I posited McAsey a few pages back, and I think it'd be an easy sell with Adelaide on the decline and McAsey being an ex-Victorian Metro player. They are notoriously worse at acclimatising interstate.

Wonder if we could also trial McGovern in defence at some stage? Looked OK when was played there at Adelaide.

It could work as a last measure, but this is why list management is so crucial

The cost for a viable incumbent is minimal, we should ignore this need?
The cost is a list position, when we need to reduce the amount of list positions used on talls list wide.

I think we need to draft one within 3 years, but I think next year is too soon.

Somewhat off topic but both trade options - How would you all feel if we brought in Zac and Dylan Williams? Could we handle Bristle Taylor and Luke Darcy sperging out over two players with the same surname?

They could barely handle it with two Kennedy's, two Cripps out there. They continuously called Cottrell Cuningham, despite him not even being out there.

Zac I'm all for, I've not seen enough of Dylan Williams to know.

Not as a KPD, so it really is pointless

I seem to remember the same attitude when I discussed Jones as a back-man.
I then again seem to recall the same attitude when I thought Casboult has shown signs of playing back...Remember?

It's a long shot but if we want to give Moore half a chance, it won't be for playing forward.

Harks, Moore is not a KPP

This is basis of the discussion, not whether he can make it as a defender

Some very tough talks are going to need to be had with some of our heart and soul players between now and the end of the year..

We have Kruezar, Murphy, Simmo & Betts all out of contract and to be fair only Simmo is currently in reasonable form but will be 37 this time next year.. Eddie has provided a spark in the fwd line and the games we have won have been off the back of his brilliance and Murphy continues to accumulate without really having any impact on the game. The form of TDK and Pittonet make MK unnecessary..

Can we let all go at once.. does this provide the clean air for the side to become Cripps and Dochs to lead towards success or does chucking out that much experience hurt us...

Krez and Simmo this year.

Murph and Betts next year.

Harks, just consider this for a moment

Moore is 193cms

Please tell me which KPD, currently playing is that height, that, you believe could play on elite KPF's in the comp
Dane Rampe comes to mind. But he’s only 189...
Jeremy McGovern is 190
Tom Barrass 194
Steven May is 193
Alex Rance 194
Scarlett 192
Sos 194
But that’s just a few

that’s not me saying Moore will be a good KPD

Jonas and Rampe often play tall at sub 190, Dylan Crimes at 191, Sam Collins is in AA discussions at 194.

I'd suspect Moore's footballing ability will be a bigger handbrake than his height.

Yeap Rampe, outliner
Gov 196
Barrass 196

Then 3 bloke that were considered best of the best in that position, you could throw in Glass at 192

You have to be a rare footballer to be considered an elite KPD under 195 in footy over the last decade

Plenty of average/sevicable KPD's in the game at the moment, but they mostly need the height to compete

Tom Jonas 188cm
Dylan Grimes 193cm
Michael Hurley 193cm

By the way, I’m not saying Moore can do it.
Just answering with evidence that some can.

So with something expected to fall out of Collingwood following the signings of De Goey and Moore, would anyone here consider Josh Daicos as a small forward?

Out of contract and may not cost much. Has a lot of potential.

Absolutely 0 chance he leaves. Having a breakout year and is the equivalent of a Silvagni to them.

Steven May is 193cm Who does he play on?

Not suggesting that Moore could make it either way, but he has no home at this club ahead of our front line forwards.
It's back or bust, with bust being far more likely but he's no forward and again - It's easier for someone who has played forward to become a backman, than it is for a failed backman to become a forward.

Yeap Jonas another outliner like Rampe

Grimes isn't a KPD, even Balta gets that 1st KPF

Hurley prefers to play as the interceptor rather than a traditional KPD

Either way, wouldn't waste my time trying to play Moore as a KPD

May? Moore would have to put on 10 KG

Wouldn't waste my time trying to make him a KPD, doesn't have the height, skill or body
